Run to Redcliffe lagoon, 15.4km .Take a break, (as long as we see fit)
Return to Shorncliffe.
The November 28 run was great. Since we where discussing doing another run the same, I have put up a new post. Mid January was mentioned. But I’m open to any date so long as it is Sunday. Anyone who wants to do just the one way, 15km, you’re welcome; it’s easy to catch the bus back, any day. (I may be among you) The run is just a nice easy pace.

I think the said person mentioned that the Jetty to Jetty Half marathon could be extended to a full marathon by extending to the Shorncliffe Jetty and return to Woody point start/finish. So you can either start and go south to Shorncliffe, then back to Woody Point, past Redcliffe Jetty to Morgans and back to the Start/Finish..... or Start and go North and ruin the southern leg last.
If the MBRR grabbed this idea, there are a couple of possible sponsors for the event over that way (Sonomas, Raphaels, Coffee Club, Post Office Hotel...)

I agree it's a great idea. I'm with MBRR and we run that "super" Jetty 2 Jetty course as part of our club runs throughout the year. I'm not on the Jetty committee, but as I understand it, to coordinate a full marathon along that route would require approval & licenses for BOTH Pine Rivers & Brisbane City Council PLUS involve closing part of the bridge to cyclists on a Saturday/Sunday morning. Nightmare logistics. Would be nice though. Maybe some day ...

Hey Dave (& Board),
I followed the original run post a couple of days before you all planned it, and there were a few with the club who were gonna join impromptu at 600am ... then everyone backed out & I didn't quite make it down. I'm keeping my eyes open for this one though, too.
Not really training so much as trying to keep up fitness & trying to not hurt self again after disappointing DNF at GH in Sept. Got H&H in a month then looking to assemble a team for Oxfam. Need 1-2 more at this point.
How've you been running?

Not too bad, but I've been having some slight issues with shin splints so have been careful with not pushing myself too much. I've got K2D this Sunday which will be a good test, and then it looks like I'll be seeing you at H&H. After that though I'll probably just try to stick to a good training plan for a few months to bump up my base for a bit.
TW seems to be pretty popular - lots of people are talking about entering.

MrUniqueName likes Sunday Feb 6, I got no problem with that. Its a long way off though. Does anyone want to vote for Sun 23 or 30 Jan?
So unless anyone says otherwise, it's currently on at 6 feb.
If anyone wants to extend it further you can put up a suggestion for a new start point. Then we meet there. Im not too familiar with the tracks beyond what we did last time. I hope not to put anyone off but I may drop off the run halfway if it gets too long. I'm sure that you guys will be happy to carry on. Was not a problem last time.

feb 6th sounds good. it does seems a long way off though but with xmas, new year festivities & other races on, this date fits.
edit: oops - may have to do Mt Glorious if fit enough otherwise i'll be there

Fatass would be the way to go. Self-supported run. Plenty of drink stops & amenties along the way. Maybe the Feb 6 run & a late Feb/early March run can prepare some for the Fatass marathon. Late March or April maybe? It wouldn't be too hard to find the turn around point. "Two Cliffe's" Fatass Marathon?? don't want to step on J2J toes.
Who's up for it?
cheers

I can already tell you as of a fortnight ago, at about the 1.6km markings (from the bridge heading north) there are about 3 sets of taps near the near toilet block that do not work.
I would prolly run this as a test run or long training run before the GCM

i noticed those markings on the last run. it's the distance leading up to them that will probably make them unusable for 5,10,15, etc... splits. it'll be good for those that want to cover the 42.2k distance before Gold Coast but make sure they can do the Feb 6th 31k & late Feb/March 31k runs before attempting the full monty. if taps are a problem then water bottle a must. There is the shop at woody point & surf club that sell drinks also. Speak more about it tomorrow night.

sorry if a bit of a hijack of the thread. It would be great if you can do the full marathon distance also. so dates i've come up with (subject to discussion) are :
Sunday Feb 6th - next Shorncliffe to Redcliffe Lagoon & return run - 31km
Sunday Feb 20th or 27th - Shorncliffe to Redcliffe Lagoon & return run - 31km
Sunday March 20th or 27th - Shorncliffe to Redcliffe (Morgans) & return. Fatass Full Marathon - 42.195km
other races around this time are -
Sun Feb 20th - Sports Super centre fun run series
Sun Mar 13th - Sports Super centre fun run series
Apr 9th - Pinnacles Classic & DelXC
Sun Apr 17th - Mt Mee Marathon/Relay
Sun Apr 17th - Sports super centre fun run series
Sun 24th - Wild Horse Criterium
May 15th - Glasshouse Mountains Cooks Tour
March 20th or March 27th don't clash with any other races & Easter holidays. Come May & June things really start to get crowded in race calendar.
cheers

My preference would be the 27th - my next baby is due on the 14th so the 20th might be cutting it a bit fine, and I really don't think I could explain to my wife that I missed the birth because I was on a run...

I was thinking of doing the Twilight HM on the 20th. Will have to see how my training is going, might not be able to do the full fatass.

Further to the distance markers - after all the work on the new bridge, the first distance marker you get after you get off the bridge is 0.6km. From memory, the distance marker at Scarborough Boat harbour (Cnr Thurect pde and Oyster Point Esp.) is 13.7km.

Don't really mind having this thread Hijacked so much. I'm not too familiar with the running calendar, so the 6th Feb and 27 March sounds good. I've been so busy I have not had a chance to get on the site. As for the full 42K later I can join you but I will only go as far as my legs will allow at the moment
Is anyone looking at doing some alternatve routes after we do this? Just to keep it a little more interesting. Maybe I will scout through some maps and see what I get.
