I decided to take on the 'Beyond the Black Stump' a month late!! Awesome run, but not sure I went far enough. When you get to the end of the fire trail (McCallum's Ave) do you then go between the bolders and down the steep rocky single track?? If so, how much did I miss out on....??!

What you also missed is quite a bit of elevation gain and loss, some fairly rough trail and seeing the castle and a nice view of the river below.
DO IT AGAIN !!!!

I'm guessing probably 1.0 - 1.5 in each direction ? No doubt someone will probably measure this on MapMyRun to prove me wrong.

Guess i'm 10 months late then (or maybe 2 months early!)
I had a go at the middle section this morning for the first time (i've done the first and last bit on the other side of the river a couple of times before).
Nice! Easier than i was expecting and i'm happy about that!
The 3km slog uphill at the start wasn't too exciting, but the 3km down at the end made me think i was much better than i really am!
And nice middle bit too along the track.
The castle was different to what i expected, probably because in my head i thought it was going to look like a broken down house on the end of a remote peninsular that i saw in spain a few years ago, with low-lying scrub around it and so it was quite prominant. Seemed quite reasonable to me that this one would therefore look exactly the same....
But no, our BTBS castle is sort of hidden in Australian bush. Funny that.
I suppose my next challenge is to string the first half and the second half together and do a proper BTBS. Got a bit of training to do before i could do that any justice though!
