is the Coronation Hotel a good venue for drinks after the SMH Half?
I've created a Wiki Page for the race:
http://www.coolrunni...day_17_May_2009
Off-topic: can someone teach me how to post links so that they appear as page titles rather than the URL of the page?

Here is the text from Don Juan's post last year:
1. After race drinks venue is the
Hotel Coronation
http://www.hotelcoro...n.com.au/1.html
The hotel is at 5 Park Street, City, next to the Woolworths on the corner of Park and George Streets.
The map on their website looks wrong, so I rang the Hotel Coronation and it confirmed the hotel is next to Woolworths.
Also open 24 hours for pre-race hydration.
2. Official CR Cheersquad location is the NE corner of Hyde Park North, on Prince Albert Road, - opposite the Art Gallery Road turnoff & St Mary's Catherdral.
If my reading of the SMH half marathon course description is correct then the runners will pass the Cheersquad 6 times, and then run behind us to the finish line.

PS to post links that are more than um links, you use the fourth icon along in the frame (the one after the underline icon) - that lets you put in any text you want for the link. Or highlight the words you want to have linked before you press the fourth icon along, then you just have to paste in the link.

I'd be happy enough to walk or hop on a bus and head to The Rocks, where past experience tells me the pubs are a little more accommodating to weary runners and cheerers.

I'm looking at top floor of Scruffy Murphys (George and Goulburn Sts) about 500m south of Woolworths (Coronation) and 300m south of Cheers.
this has 6 main dishes (ie: steak or fish or chicken with chips or mash; a couple of other dishes) for only $6 or $7. ***Other normal priced meals exist***
In the morning (about 10am) it is nearly empty....
That's where I will be heading.

Excellent. I had entered the race but am now a spectator due to injury, so am a definite starter for the cheersquad. Will be good to cheer home not only my better half and a friend from work, but also all of the other 5,000 CR's.
I'll bring along a number of pairs of appropriate CR eyewear.
Who else is a starter for the cheersquad?

Given the rain, I thought it was best not to bring my computer & Powerpoint slides with me, so instead I gave a different presentation off the cuff. It went along the lines of "Well if you're not running, then you can join the cheersquad".
Hopefully I've convinced him.

*OK it probably wasn't SARS, it was whooping cough. Or bird flu. Or swine flu. Or something I never want to have again or share with anyone.

We will have just run a half marathon, so what's another km or so as a cooldown to walk back to the Rocks and go to The Orient?
Or am I ever-so-slightly biased because it's conveniently close to my office where I will be going back for a shower?

If famished you can always head to Pancakes in the Rocks en route to the Orient (if REALLY famished we pass it twice during the race).

Of course! Girls only though - I don't have access to the male showers!
If I wear a skirt can I be part of the group shower?
If not maybe us blokes can have a dip in at circular quay
