One of the WAMC's oldest races - a good old fashioned 10 miler- just like the club's founders used to run. If you don't fancy the 10 miler, you can always do the 16.1, or 5.25km!
WHERE: Hockey Club Rooms, Perry Lakes.
WHEN: Sunday 4 December 2011.
TIME: both races start at 7am (0700 hours).
ENTRY: Entry is on the day. Please make sure you register AT LEAST half an hour before the race start at 7am. Members $3, non- members $12.
COURSE: 2011 Founders Map
ENQUIRIES:wamc@wamc.org.au.au or telephone 9472 4833. Or, on the weekend Race Director Ian Roberts 0400 721 390.
The 16.1km race is part of the WAMC Club Championship series

Hey Grant. I'm a long way off fit enough to do that, sadly. Half mara is probably my limit right now, and only on a nice grey piece of tarmac

I'm a newbie to running, to WA and WAMC....did the 15k last week and thinking of trying the 16k this Sunday, can anyone tell me about the course please... i.e. flat, hilly?

DISCLAIMER: never actually run the exact course but my 4km school cross country is held there every year.
If its anything like the course we run for school its not too hilly though it also shouldnt be considered a "flat" course (fairly similar hardness in comparison to the 15km you did), i checked out the map and as far as i can see the entire run is on concrete/pavement (no grass).
look forward to seeing you out there!

Not sure if I will do this again or not. It will depend how far I run on Saturday and other options available on the Sunday. Plus I have a party Saturday night although the year before I ran this with a massive hangover, I must say, running 10 miles is great for a hangover. I felt much better after. I have never regreted going for a run.
Cheers,
J.

Now that I have put a link to my Garmin activity for the race I noticed by looking at the map on the first post here that the course has indeed changed again this year. The 'hilly' bit around the old Perry Lakes stadium site has been removed. It wasn't that big a hill anyway but this course will now be less 'hilly'. It will definitely not be as undulating as the Deepwater Point run as there are no bridges to cross.
Cheers,
J

Now a bigger problem...for me anyhow, I would really like to do the City Beach 8k on the 18th unfortunately my lad who works shifts will have the car, I've checked Transperth and there are no services from my area at that time of the day...is there any one attending from the Midland area that I could sponge a lift off..I live in Swan View??
Cheers
Colin....

Legs felt really tired only 4km in and seriously considered bailing into the short race chute after 1st lap. Instead I carried on and plodded home over 3 mins slower than target time, using it as a mental strength training run. Pussy! :-)
Well done to all volunteers, of which there were plenty
Congrats to all runners. Tough gig today. 25oC at start and 28 at finish

Luckily I now have a PB that should be easy to beat in the future
