Hi all... yesterday was a fantastic day!
We weren't expecting the trails to take so much out of us (newfound admiration for the 12-foot trackers), but we were happy to finish in better time and in much better shape than last time. I've learned as many lessons from this one, as the first Monster.
Recovery today has been nice and cruisey - a light gym session in the morning, and about to hit the road for a short recovery run with the boys. No doubt I'll be the one dragging the chain today!
I'll do a long and boring report later, but I first wanted to give all my thanks to the wonderful support.
Hearty thanks to:
- All the people who started the race with us: Happy Hoofers, BeesKnees, MartinDugdale, etc. Really got us off to a great start.
- Thomo for meeting us at 90+, with chocolates and good humour... made the kms tick away quickly.
- Eoin for joining us through the trails, great conversation and help with the Andy's injured head.
- Mick for looking after us AGAIN at Milson's Point. NTR and I weren't feeling particularly confident at this stage, but your supplies (well chosen, and exactly what we needed) and encouragement was such a boost. Looking forward to returning the favour soon.
- Martin (Coogee) for keeping our spirits up on the journey out west. It's a great pleasure to run with you, and we really appreciate your company. It's turning into a tradition, and hopefully, it will be sooner than next time before our paths cross again.
- Enduro for running the first half of the journey with us, and for making it look so damn easy. You are a machine! I really enjoyed our conversations, and might see you on a very long run soon. (or somewhere in China)
- Andy also for running the first half with us - even with a nasty heady injury, a burst camelbak, and bumps & grazes... an amazing effort!
- Rachel (and co) for meeting us at the finish with a big smile and cold drinks. It's easy to smile at the end of the run when we have such happy faces to greet us!
- Benny for all the support in the lead up with the training, being flexible and understanding with the kids, and for starting and finishing with us. Just you wait... your turn is coming sooner than you think

And of course, NTR for organising the Monster, and for your execution of the run. You were mentally tough all the time, and even when you were suffering, you didn't show it (unlike my whining self). Looking forward to the debrief, and to our next run. Hope you are enjoying your relaxing day of recovery.
And thanks to all those others on this thread and on the day who gave us encouragement, well wishes & support, including anyone I might have missed.
Peace,
Marlz.
