We had a total of 185 runners with 25 going short and 160 taking on the monster half.
RunningWild took out the teams event over the Striders by an aggregate better time of 22mins.
Great morning, see some of you at Glenbrook on Sunday.

I was curious to see how I performed overall.
It has given me an idea of how hard i need to push next year to climb from 60th Percentile to 50th Percentile.
A BIG THANK YOU to the Running Wild organising committee for another terrific event.

Did the run with a friend of mine for his birthday (we didn't run together, he's fitter than me at the moment). We were the guys who finished the race with a long neck of VB that our non running friends handed us about 100 metres from the finish. That's how you win without being fast. (though in reality, the post race slushy was far more satisfying!!)

Same leg, same muscle, slightly different spot; just didn't like going uphill for that long and a quarter of the way back up decided to pack it in. Hobbled, hopped and walked home and got chicked in the last 10m too for good measure.
No way was I ever going to stay with Tucks even if I stayed healthy, the way he climbed yesterday was totally awesome to watch. To smash the course record by 5 minutes, basically just from the ascent too, was unbelievable. A special for B2H.
At least I still have the record of being first to the turnaround point. Gotta love that downhill. Any chance of just having a 10K downhill race next year?
Great to meet Roger, such infectious enthusiasm, and a few others backing up from GNW.
Time to dust off the MTB again...

So how are those quads and calves today people ?? I can't be the only one out there feeling it today... I thought a quick bike ride this morning would fix things but no, there is some serious muscle soreness going on right now...
Catch you all next week, bet you can't wait for the pain after Glenbrook

You're not alone! I'm crazy sore even after wearing compression gear. More hill training for me ... and maybe some Hokas.

WHEN: 7.30am, Sunday, 11th December 2011
WHERE: Old Lawson Golf Club, Wilson Street Lawson
DISTANCE: Approximately 12km - Note, there will be no short course option
COURSE:
This is a new race on our calendar. The race starts at the clubhouse of the Old Lawson Golf Club. After negotiating a dogleg par 4 fairway, runners will reach the track head and run a series of single trails crossing various creeks and bridges. Runners will exit the single trail onto a fire trail. After a period of fire trail running, runners will reach the turn point where an aid station will be positioned. After reaching the turn, runners will return on the fire trail. This will not be a true out/back, but runners will parallel the single trail on a fire trail before returning to the golf course and back to the start/finish area.
The single trail portion of the course would be classed as medium difficulty. The crossings require care, but can be safely negotiated providing the runners exercise care.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
This course runs through a series of bush gullies. If we have rain prior to the race, the course may be impassable. If there is rain prior to the race and the race is cancelled, we will update facebook, twitter and Cool Runnings. Please note, owing to our IT Committee member running at Coast 2 Kosziusko, we will not be able to update our website with this information.
PARKING:
There is limited parking in the immediate area surrounding the start / finish area. If you park in residential streets, be mindful of local residents and do not block driveways. There is parking in Lawson township, only a short warm up run away from the start / finish area. See the attached map for instructions.
REGISTRATION:
Race registration will commence from 6:15am. We ask for all runners to be ready be in attendance by 7am and registered by 7.15am. Any members that have not collected their bibs/shirts can be done at registration. Cost of event is $10 for members and $20 for visitors. Online registration is available on our website - www.runningwildnsw.com
MEMBER BIBS:
A reminder for all members to bring their member bibs for this race.
MANDATORY ITEM:
As per all Running Wild events, all runners are required to carry 500ml of fluid. This can be by a handheld bottle, fuel belt or hydration pack. If runners do not have fluids, bottles of water will be available for $1.
BBQ AND DRINKS:
There will be a bbq with cold drinks for sale post race. We encourage all to stop post race and have a chat.
VOLUNTEERS:
We regularly put the call out for volunteers to assist. This race we are in need of help. We have only 6 of 13 committee available, so our resources are stretched to the limit. Any help pre race at registration or during the race in timing or course marshalling is appreciated to ensure the event runs smoothly.
If you have any other questions, please email us at runningwildnsw@gmail.com

WHEN: Saturday 14 January 2012
TIME: Race Start: 19:30
WHERE: Katoomba Indoor Swim Centre, Farnells Rd, Katoomba
DISTANCE: Full Course 20km, Social Option 14km
Getting to the Race (via Shuttle Bus)
Due to the very limited parking space available at the start/finish area all runners will be required to register and park at the Katoomba Indoor Swimming Centre, Farnells Rd, Katoomba. From here a shuttle bus service will operate to the start/finish line on Glen Raphael Drive (Narrow Neck).
Please note:
Registration and shuttle bus will run from 5.00pm to 6.30pm, with the race starting at 7.30pm. The bus will begin returning runners as soon as bus loads are ready to leave post run.
The Course:
The Narrowneck Night Run is both splendidly scenic and refreshingly straightforward. From the main gate runners follow the only firetrail right out to its terminus at Clear Hill, then return. There are no significant junctions or deviations.
There are no biting hills on Narrowneck as there were at, say, Mt Portal or Wentworth Falls, but the track does roll with plenty of sharp ups and downs and on the return leg the gradual ascent from Clear Hill to the fire tower does take nearly three kilometres.
The full option is an even 20 kilometres, a shorter option involves turning at the fire tower which makes a 14 kilometre run.
Narrowneck is a long, cliff-bound peninsula which divides the Jamison Valley from the Megalong Valley. As you head out, on your left is near-pristine bush framed by the Warragamba Catchment; on your right is cultivated farmland with Jenolan and Kanangra on the far western horizon. At the turnaround views of Lake Burragorang (Warragamba Dam) are quite clear and the Wild Dog Mountains are arrayed below you.
Aid Stations:
Aid at the turnaround is still subject to negotiation so be prepared for a 20K unsupported run- and don’t forget your lights! If the sky is clear, the nearly-full moon may well enable you to run with lights off for extended periods. However lights are mandatory equipment for this event.
Mandatory Items:
All runners will be required to carry with them a head light or torch. This event is planned so that all runners will return in the dark. So be ready for a night time running experience.
The carrying of 500ml of fluid is a standard mandatory item and part of our safety plan. This course can take its toll even with it being run in the potentially cooler timing of the evening. This rule will be enforced at registration. Should runners not have fluids at the start, we will be selling bottled water for $1.
Member Bibs:
A reminder for all Running Wild members to bring their yellow member race bib. If you have not collected your bibs this year, they will be at race registration. If you have lost or forget your race bib, a small charge will apply for a replacement bib ($3).
Member Shirts:
If you have not collected your race shirts, they will be at registration for collection.
Registration:
Once again we will be using the on line registration for this mountain series. This will be at no cost for the runner. To register online follow the online registration link here:
https://www.register...er.aspx?ID=4951
We will also be accepting race entries from 5.00pm till 6.30pm at the registration located at Katoomba Indoor Swim Centre. Reminder it is $10 for members and $20 for visitors.
Toilet Facilities:
There are NO permanent facilities at the start/finish area. We are looking into being able to get a porta-loo at the start/finish area, however there are some issues with this and runners should be aware it may not be able to occur for this event. Keep this in mind for pre race. We would suggest attending to this situation prior to attending the start area. In particular making use of the facilities found at Katoomba Indoor Swim Centre.
Please note there is a toilet at the tower (7km and 13km for full course and turn point for short option).
Post Race:
We will have our BBQ in full operation, with various options, as well as cold drinks. We encourage all to stay around post race and enjoy the banter. Don't forget to pack your coins when you get on the bus to head out to the start finish area.

Need to get into website and correct/clarify.
The run definitely starts at 7:30pm, however rego at the Swimming Pool (Katoomba Indoor) needs to be complete by 6:30pm to make sure all runners get onto a shuttle bus and across to the start finish line in time to warm up etc as desired. Sorry for the confusion, will look to get it sorted as soon as possible.

When: Sunday 26th February 2012
Start Time: 7.30am
Distance: Full course 19km,13km social option
Entry Cost: $10.00 (members) or $20.00 (non- members).
Getting There
The registration and race start are based out of the local tennis courts found on Vale Rd and Woodford Ave, Woodford. Woodford Ave runs directly off the Great Western Highway (Glen St being the last right turn prior to Woodford Ave).
We ask all runners to be vigilant in their efforts to be as quiet as possible in their arrival and movements around your cars both before and after the event, as the immediate areas available for parking are in residential areas. Please consider the interests of local residents seeking a Sunday morning sleep in in your actions, to ensure the ongoing availability of events in this area.
Second to this please have an awareness of your parking location. Ensuring no driveways are blocked or local cars restricted in their movements.
The Course
This series of trails is a hidden treasure up in the Blue Mountains. Whilst locals have run these tracks for a few years, the Woodford Dam area has only recently been formally opened up for recreation. This will be Running Wild’s last race before Six Foot Track, so come along and tune up for the big event.
The course travels along Wellseley Road and heads down a steepish rocky trail into a valley. In the valley we take a right turn along the unusually named Transit of Venus Track and head along 1km of single trail past two small waterfalls. Runners will then climb out of the valley and link up with Woodford Creek Trail. Course descends back down towards Woodford Dam and follows the dam edge. Just past the dam the going gets tough with a steep climb up Winbourne Road Fire Trail. This climb lasts about 1km before levelling off at the top of the ridge. The course continues along the ridgeline before reaching the turn point at Winbourne Road gates. After rehydrating, you will turn and retrace your steps back to the start/finish area.
All runners are welcome of course, with this being a great track to bring your ‘new to trail running’ friends. Elevation change will be in the region of 600m.
Aid Stations
There will be a manned aid station at the turn point with water, sports drink and other goodies. 500m up from Track head at Clearview Ave (approx. 3.5km and 14.5km) and turn point at end of Winbourne Ave (9.5kms)
Mandatory Items
The carrying of 500ml of fluid is a standard mandatory item and part of our safety plan. This course can take its toll even with it being run in the potentially cooler timing of the evening. This rule will be enforced at registration. Should runners not have fluids at the start, we will be selling bottled water for $1.
Member Bibs:
A reminder for all Running Wild members to bring their yellow member race bib. If you have not collected your bibs this year, they will be at race registration. If you have lost or forget your race bib, a small charge will apply for a replacement bib ($3).
Member Shirts:

Registration:
Once again we will be using the on line registration for this mountain series. This will be at no cost for the runner. To register online follow the online registration link here:
https://www.register...er.aspx?ID=4952
We will also be accepting race entries from 6.30amm till 7.10am at the registration located at the Tennis Courts next to the start finish area. Reminder it is $10 for members and $20 for visitors.
Toilet Facilities:
There are permanent facilities at the start/finish area located in the clubhouse next to the tennis courts.
Post Race:
We will have our BBQ in full operation, with various options, as well as cold drinks. We encourage all to stay around post race and enjoy the banter. After all this is the final chance to point out to your friends how far ahead you were for the 2011/2012 short course series

On the Highway at the moment, the two left hand lanes at Woodford are being used for two way traffic. The two right hand lanes are being worked on and are for residents only. You may be able to park on the verge of the highway in that area.
If driving from Sydney, turn right at Vale St, then right again (so 180 degrees) and park on the eastbound verge of the highway. There'll be a 300m or so walk to the start from there.

This is a grassed area between the Highway and the railway line and has a few parking spots off the roadway, but more importantly it also has public restrooms.

The boom in trail running doesn't seem to be abating, so great to see so many out and about at the races. No doubt it will only get bigger and the fields will get stronger which is brilliant and great for the sport. Trail running is MASSIVE in the US and Europe and if it wasn't for volunteer groups like Running Wild putting on races there would be no such community here.
See you at 6 Foot!
