I've just returned from 3weeks house sitting for friends at Clare, SA. My first long run took me on the Spring Gully Loop plus a bit to take it up to 30k. The following week I attempted the same route, however I saw a fire track which I thought was going my way and would get me off the road and away from any possible vehicles. Not a good decision. I was at one point two deep gullies from the Spring Gully lookout that I was aiming for and not sure how to get there. If it wasn't for the sake of being lost, I would have considered it a spectacularly good run, with the hills to the east overlooking the plains to the west as I ran along a ridge. To top off the occasion, my pod battery ran flat before I made it home and so I'm not really sure how far I ran.
During the stay in Clare I did weekly runs north along the Riesling Trail to Barinia Rd and return. I love the Riesling trail in any direction. I would liked to have run the Rattler, Riverton to Auburn, but was unable to convince the wife that she wanted that drive. A couple of runs were made easier through the company of my older brother. It's great to have running as a common interest.
Soooo many places to eat and drink coffee around Clare. We discovered our coffee saturation points.
