Did you get in? I thought you & Weston had already entered. I am laid up for hopefully only 2 weeks with a spot of tendonitis but planning on a start. My entry was done the weekend 6ft was cancelled.

I am concerned that I have done so much on & off tapering since Glenbrook was supposed to be on the first time that I haven't had any real solid training patches.
Any advice from all the experienced runners out there.
Cheers,
Grahame

Some also say to double your marathon time ? So looks like I am out for a 6:40 race. Might be safe and plan for 7 plus as I have never run this course but looking forward to the challenges it offers, and compare against my backyard - the GNW.

RD, I don't suppose there is a waiting list for this?
if not, good luck to all, enjoy the spectacular views, and I'll cheer you on from the top of furber steps

Look's like the race is going to be very fast up front, any one of about 5 guy's could win this one.

A look at the course profile and with all the earlier comments suggesting to double your marathon time, or add 2hrs to your SFT time has reinforced that I'll be throwing all finish time expectations out the window and going totally by feel, taking it nice and easy and just enjoying this first attempt!
I found out quite by accident the other day that two friends of mine have also entered [father and son, NF100 vet's] so that was a nice surprise.
Just as a matter of interest, does anyone know how many steps there are from Wentworth Falls down into the valley [similar/less/more than the 500'ish at Nellie's Glen?]
See you Sunday week!
Cheers

Hi Toffy
You should love this race - it is a very spectacular course and one to enjoy!
You can breathe a sigh of relief as there are no stairs going into the valley, just a lovely smooth firetrail down for about six k's before you hit some single track down to the river. And then it is up, and up, and up!!!
The only real stairs are Furber Steps leading up to the first aid station - not sure how many are there though! Probably just enough to make you appreciate the aid station when you get there!!
Good luck!

Please note Gaylord Focker that I am only the humble ARD, and there is nothing esteemed about myself!!! Also my maths was never that good there is a pretty decent line up not limited to the numbers mugs like me put up here.
If you stay tunned to 168 I believe that you will get all the info you want from there some time soon...
Can't wait to see another 'blow hole' on Kedumba mate, seriosuly let us know where the hire company should put the stand.

But if I do decide to DNS what are my options ?
I tried the info book and website but didn't see anything.
Can I give my entry away or sell it ?
If not and I forfeit it, do I still get my Tshirt sent ?

Indeed, we'll be doing a preview soon, so watch this space. And Gaylord isn't in our top five i'm afraid...

If the rumours are true this field is a cracker!!! look forward to a preview.
I can't speak highly enough of the Mt Solitary race director - Luke Doyle, he is such a great guy - I requested some course info so he kindly sent me a photo of the course & i've spent all my time since six foot specifically preparing for it..........

This one is too close to call in both male and female. There will be a few quality runners not sitting on the podium this year.

A long 10ish weeks has passed since my right foot went bang on the last lap of Knapsack. That's right, 10+ weeks of walking and mixed-up forward-backward treadmill fun, plenty of couch time and ball rolling, more than a few wines. Add in a long 6 foot taper, throw in several midweek 'trail' runs along abandoned railway tracks (harder than you might think, note to self- always remember to turn around on these, out AND back is good...), a fun 10 hr mt solitary trip in lieu of 6 ft and a few weekend Lsd outings fueled by panadol and getting friendly with a 3hr 33 minute wall I didn't know about (yes exactly 3:33). Note to self - Powerbars are great but remember to eat them.
Km per week- no don't even go there, time on the ground is what it has been about. Now the extended taper +/- recovery, + walk, -run time is over, so bring on the singletrack baby. First big test (or should I say rest) will be a nice little climb up Mt Sol starting shortly after the first creek crossing.
Good luck to those of you running next weekend who have been struggling with injuries as well. Hope you make it to the start line fully recovered and ready to roll.

I must have run another Mt Solitary. The scenery looks similar but I can't recall seeing the power poles? Can't wait for Sunday. Forecast is for huge rains the next few days. Could it be another wshout like 6FT? Hope not, as I can't keep training forever!!

If it's not moved before Sunday (been there 2 weeks now), be patient people, don't hurry people up, it's a little tricky to negotiate... it's only running...

Sure is, plenty of room at The Hospital. Just please make sure not to park infront of the couple of private driveways just past the hospital. Happy neighbours mean more races

We recognise the inconvenience caused, however the SCA have a task to perform and too much of the Mt Solitary course is in Catchment land to re-route the event.
We are currently considering options on the deferment of the race. We will make an announcement next week.
Regards,
The Committee

There is a group of us heading out Sunday morning at 7 from Katoomba to do a 45 km / 50 km loop via Narrowneck and Dunphys and back up Nellies Glen. There are a few that fit into the faster category, closer to your rarified air....(not incl me!)...but you are welcome to join us. PM me your email and I will send you details (Was that you at the corner of Willoughby Rd and Mowbray last night at about 6pm?)

The SMH Half is on that same day. The RunningWild Committee should consider possible clashes with other events when setting a new date as it won't be fair to those who have already forked out nearly $100 for the SMH Half to have to forfeit that race for Mt Solitary.
