i am not sure why you guys see this as an issue.  To vote something as your favourite you must firstly know it exists.  if you do not know it exists then it is not your favourite so do not vote for it.  Life can be very simple if you let it.

although with that said it would be nice if everyone could enjoy the subtle humour of Bellthorpe's blog.

The rule originally and I thought so again this year was that the blog had to be listed on the CR Running Guide blog website to qualify for nomination. Otherwise I would have voted for a blog by gnscon.

Where was Tirunesh Dibaba and Kenenisa Bekele in the most accomplished overseas athletes?

How can Ratdog in a Mankini be a votee when he didn't remove his tights?

He might be a troublemaker (or our mosr acomplished runner maybe)-but I agree with him on this one.  Shorts, skirts, understanding partner are not accessories-try running without shorts or skirt and see how far you get.  In the case of the nude dude doing the 1/2 at Run Melbourne it was nearly 11km.  I'd say they are essentials.
I also think calling an understanding partner an accessory quite belittling to said partner.  But that's just me.

obviously nowhere since you didn't nominate them and no one else thought of them.

I think we've missed some important categories for 2008.

Where is:

" CR scapegoat of the year"  ie the person everyone likes to kick the most when they post something you don't agree with.  It's in our nature to select one....who will it be this year??  I wonder.....

or maybe

"CR's brown nose award"  for those that constantly and consistently back up their mates no matter what tripe they have written.

Just on the Swagger issue....can we this year try to live and let live?

I for one want Ron Peters in CR no matter what he posts. If you add up the positives and take off negatives he's way, way into the black.

I don't know him; never met him; ie he's not a mate but IMHO we need people like him around here.

I'm guilty of joining in on the comments on VA's thread and thinking he was a bit of a blow-hard... He's gone now and we've lost someone who was a shit hot runner but I'm still here on CR experimenting with continuous sub 4 mins per kms ......who's the wanker?? (...no.. don't answer that...)

tolerance and acceptance and inclusiveness comes from the top in a community and spreads down...not the other way around. We don't see enough of it here.

Apologies for getting off-topic.....

Cheers Dave

I am not sure who you are having a shot at here.  You seem a bit cryptic.  Is it someone in particular or the whole moderating team in general?

ouch. I feel that this was aimed at me. It's one reason why I refuse to moderate anymore (as of a few months back). I feel I have given my all and yet it falls short of expectations. I am passing control over to anyone who will step up to the mark, or anarchy if none step up.

Agree with some of this. At times I think that there is a fine line around here between who is judged a wanker or just a larrikin. Tolerance and acceptance is indeed the key.

Missed the mark...again....

I was refering to the "fit in or f*ck off" attitude that goes on here to the detriment of a lot of people.

I should have said "people with influence" rather than the word "top" because it wasn't aimed at you Kev or any mods in particular.

fair enough.

Although I reckon the attention seeking attitude you mention stems from a lack of power and influence.

From what I saw, only one poster said that and if you think he's got any influence on CR then you're mistaken. Especially if you like at the vast array of threads and topics that are discussed on this board. When it comes to moderation I believe there is very little actually done.

From memory, I think the fit in or f**k off comment was moderated within minutes/hours of it being posted. So the mods are good for moderating it ? or the mods are bad for moderating it?

From memory the person that posted said comment was not related in any way whatsoever with CR, at the top or the bottom or even sideways. Am confused.   ;)

This is supposed to be a thread about coolrunners achievments and community, not about who moderates what, who calls who names and who is who's buddy.  What nominations have or have not made it through is also irrelevant-it's all done now and nothing will change it.  If it's the moderators you want to discuss, do it on the correct thread..
Fair warning-any more of those posts will be moved to that thread.  Any more posts that come accross as a pissing contest will be removed-take this as the explaination.  I don't generally moderate very much as I prefer things to die themselves but I grow weary of this.
What do you lot think newcomers to our community think when they come to our awards thread and find this crap?

The person was related to CoolRunning if they were able to post.

They were a member at the time, They are still a member I believe. I can only vaguely recollect who it was who said it. No, it wasn't me.

Everyone knows who made that comment. It was me, apparently after I became bored with inciting the Cronulla riots (as another CR suggested).

Anyway, I see the thread is polling really well, so it must have some appeal.  ;)

And I have recently brokered a deal where anyone who votes for me as CR Ambassador will immediately be included as a "Blue Dog Buddy'.

This entitles you to all the benefits of crony-ism, the exclusivity of the Old Boys Club, bucket-loads of power and influence AND a free fridge magnet from Tim.

Thanks in advance for your support,  vote now - Blue Dog!  ;)

Looks like I should have offered some incentives too - I haven't polled a vote for a few days. (Guess I know who my mates really are don't I? Come to think of it, I'm not even sure who did vote for me).

But as I have no power or influence, have been excluded from the Old Boys Club and have none of Tims fridge magnets, I suppose I'll just have to rely on my personal charm to score votes (which is obviously why I am languishing near the bottom).

When does voting finish?   Is it Australia Day?

The Marathon vote is a close one ... with Gold Coast just having it's nose in front of Canberra.

And the Ambassador vote is a pretty good contest happening too:   with Sook having a slight lead over both Blue Dog and Frank (SouthAustralian).

Thanks in advance for your support,  vote now - Blue Dog!  ;)
....... now you're going to be labelled sexist Doggy.

Everyone knows who made that comment. It was me, apparently after I became bored with inciting the Cronulla riots (as another CR suggested).

Anyway, I see the thread is polling really well, so it must have some appeal.  ;)

ouch. I feel that this was aimed at me. It's one reason why I refuse to moderate anymore (as of a few months back). I feel I have given my all and yet it falls short of expectations. I am passing control over to anyone who will step up to the mark, or anarchy if none step up.

Kev
I'm disappointed to think that some of the disenchanted newer members have made you think that.  I can't imagine that any of us who have been around for a while would suggest there's ever been any inequity in the way you've treated any of the forum members.  Personally, I've been quite saddened by the way some newcomers have taken over the forum and turned almost every thread into a slanging match and as much as I appreciate free speech, I think there's a lot of crap being allowed that should just be sent straight to the bin.

EDITED: to make sense!

I hope that's an honest mistake and you meant to say that we wouldn't suggest that there's ever been any partiality from Kev... ;)

Only a few days left with voting closing on Australia Day (26/1/09).  Some nominees are so far ahead that the winner is a forgone conclusion, but others are fairly close.  Coolrunning Ambassador is one of these, with Sook54 3 votes ahead of Blue Dog and South Australian.  Running Science and Ebay are equal in votes for favourite running shop.

What's going on out there in voting for the best australian male athlete I don't understand how Kurt Fearnley could be so far down in the polling, this guy is one of our finest ever athletes a champion - he competes successfully in events from 100m to marathon.
Paralympic marathon champion 04/08, gold, 2 silver and bronze in Beijing, current world champion 1500m wheelchair, course record holder and 3 times winner New York marathon, winner 16 international wheelchair marathons 06-08 7 in course record time.
Troop, Mottram, Abdi, Dent are class athletes who have achieved and successfully competed at the highest level so has Kurt - read this before you vote:

Kurt Fearnley 2000-2008

...and he is only 27 years old!

Can I change my vote?  Whilst I am after my chick magnet for voting for the Dog, I wasn't aware of Bellthorpes blog until now.  It took a while to track it down, but once I was put in touch, I was suitably impressed.  Imaginative, a touch of fantasy - almost fairy tale'ish (in a good way!).  Certainly left we with my own thoughts.  Go Belthorpe!  ;)

Ah but do you know the Japanese word for 'blog' - maybe that is why you can't find it?

Oh come on you people!

There's not much time left and I am only a few votes behind 'The Other Two' in the CR Ambassadoer category !!!

Need I remind you all that the 'The Other Two,' while being very nice people are BOTH MODERATORS on this forum and as such are maybe just a tad anti-free-speech 'cause it doesn't fit in with the world of puppy-dogs and rainbows where a spade isn't a spade, it's a dangerously sharp-edged implement used for committing heinous crimes upon earthworms !

IT'S TIME !

VOTE DOG !

YES WE CAN !

(written by Blue Dog on behalf of Blue Dog and FSFASSS (the Free-Speech-For-All Society of Sans Souci)).

Also vote for the 'Lame' thread.

It's got negative connotations and voting for it is negative, but as we all know, 'two negatives make a positive.'

I hope you all can feel how much I love you.

Each and every one of you.

Yes, you!

And you, and you !

I love CoolRunning !

Sincerely Blue Dog.  ;)

Maybe the CR ambassador has to me a moderator-it was a tie last year and both winners are mods-although one wasn't at the time, that mistake was soon rectified.  Hmmmmm.
Vote 1 Blue Dog-Coolrunnings next moderator!
I have to admit Dog-I've had a good laugh at your campaining.  I half wish I hadn't voted so I could vote for you!

BlueDog xxxxxxxxxx and I'm the anti-Christ who ruined the Pope's visit and offended millions of Catholics  (maybe those head spins I get are more serious than I thought).

Gee the moderators do have a tough gig.   Maybe CR Admin.  should call in an exorcist for Ron and Wayne.

BlueDog. Always admire your honesty.  But you don't call a spade a spade you call spade a **** (in your amicible way).

Cheers.

the other day a dog was humping my leg.

I realised it was nothing personal he just needed some friction to make it pleasurable.  Without the friction he was just waiving his dick in the wind and for a dog that is just normal.

You guys are just like that dog and without the moderators you are just waiving it in the wind which is no where near enough fun.

So you guys could at least be a bit more appreciative of the leg you are humping.

I have a feeling the word endurance tattooed on someone's forearm is for the reader and not the owner ;)

The dog is now in front-we'll have to make him a mod soon!
Tim your blog was winning easily-until Eagle got a little publicity in RW.  Now he's a few votes ahead.  I have never read either of them-maybe I should start.
I want to be popular also.  I am going into a deep dark place due to the low wombat voting.  I dont mean my burrow!  I am so tempted to steal some votes from others.  Ok it wont change my popularity but I'll at least look popular!
Vote for Wombatoutofhell!  Because if I don't win I'll delete the thread and you'll never know what happened!
