Well done girls, great aussie spirit shown with the flag bikini tops.  Will try and get a roving fashion reporter to judge the best dressed on the day.  Will have to make sure we have someone taking photos out at Pisgah Ridge drink stop as the runners come thru.

Ah the bikini is strictly for the swimming afterward! But I did buy a matching t-shirt to run in as well to stay with the theme   :D

NTR,

I am trying to work out whether kanga-bangers are Unaustralian or Veryaustralian???  Noone has brought a BBQ in the past, but if someone wants to take on the job, more than welcome.  Maybe a little portable one, some rolls and sauce - keep it very simple.
Kanga-banga are very Australian :-) It not as if its Koala.  I think my little portable BBQ is still on loan ( not sure if in use though ) to the CR west crew, so I can bring it.

BBQ has been treated with TLC. Ratdog looks after it.

Only used for pancakes.

I'm free, so I'll come along. Can we please sing "True Blue" as well? Carpool sounds great.
What about tents? Is there a spot for me to camp, under the shade of a Coolabah Tree?

Never mind the photo, the bigger worry is the campsite. Rod, can you choose a camp site a bit further away from the dunny this time? The aromas are definitely NOT to die for while eating the evening meal. As for kanga-bangas, bloody oath mate, I'll have a few a those buggas! Grew up on'em. Never did me any bloody 'arm.

I'm in for another bash. Will try not to get lost again this time (Brick....)

Those kanga-bangas sound great. Better not eat too many or we'll be hopping all over the course the next morning.

With New Years out of the way its time to get ready for the next biggest party of the year - the Australia Day Fatathon.  Rod has asked Fred and I to co-ordinate the finish line feasting (talk about putting the bear in charge of the honey pot!).

With 50 people last year and more expected this year we need some help!

If you are happy to make a contribution in terms of food or other goodies then can you please PM me with the details.  We need at least 1 more large esky with ice.  Also remember to BYO cold drinks / beer for the finish line.  Eskies will be available at the start line to transport your drinks.

Can't wait!

Thanks Kirrily for the call to arms.

Also still after anyone that can set up Pisgah Ridge with the aid.  Gates are locked in the morning, so will have my car to drive out there (unless you camp overnight as well).  It helps save me a bit of time in the morning, as opposed to driving out there to set up and then having to drive back out there to pick up after my run.

Pretty easy gig.  Just drive out and unpack the car.  Have a chat to all the runners coming thru and then come back to the causeway for a beer post run.  Suits any non-running family member or someone that is injured and wants to come up for a bit of a social hit out.  Can also suit someone that wants to do a short run.  Unpack the car, then do 10-20km from Pisgah.

Lots of options, but if someone can help out, please PM me.

Thanks
Rod

Rod - i'm new to the fatass world of running

I'm in for six foot track for my debut & this sounds like a great training run along w/mega in feb

Wanting to push for sub 4hrs at six foot so will do some test pacing at glenbrook

Attempting to get a few mates from sydney to come up & camp the night, i may bring my MTB to ride with you on the Monday - what time do you intend on riding & where from exactly?

I was in Euroka Clearing a few weeks back for a picnic, great spot

Looking forward to this and the beers afterwards - cheers

I have Monday/Tuesday off work, so will definitely be up there on the Monday afternoon to camp and ride the MTB over the course.  Will put some ribbons out where needed, but not too many tricks over the course (say that every year and still lose people).  Will also have some mud maps for people, but if you go back thru the thread there are maps attached.

If you are camping, ring the Glenbrook NPWS and book a spot.  Doesnt get crowded, but just be sure as I dont know if they set a quota down at the clearing.

Hi Rod, last year they allowed free entry & camping for Australia day. Will they be doing the same this year? I camped last year & would love to do so again.

For camping bookings, ring NPWS Richmond Office - 45882400.  Fees are $10 per person and $7 per vehicle.

I just made a booking for Redgum campsite (cant remember where that is exactly in the clearing).  Normally it is not too crowded and you can move easily to other sites.

Enquired re free entry on Australia Day.  The lady at the office was not too sure about this.  I know the free entry has been available last two Australia Days, but normally have to pay to camp the night before.

Guys, would be kinda cool to not turn every race thread into a 6FT sledge fest?

Looking forward to this one, will be likely my only race for January, taking the month off running..pretty much.
Will likely camp out the night before too, might drag the family along, make a long weekend out of it.

Normally aim to get to Euroka by around 2pm.  Set up tents, then go for a ride around 4pm when it is cooler.  Ride is normally out to Nepean Lookout and return, via the Oaks single trail - about 25-30km at a very cruisy pace.  Get back around 6pm, dinner and a couple of beers in the evening.  Actual tent spot is not really confirmed, just see what looks the best.  It is not that crowded in Euroka, so a quick lap will normally find us.

Morning is breakfast, swim at the causeway and then up the gates by 6am to sort out eskies.  At this stage thanks Martin D for offering to do the drive out to Pisgah.

Been reading a few of your posts and you are looking for some runs at decent pace for 6ft training.  Last year there was about 50 runners out there ranging from a few speedy ones (Alex M who I think ran 3rd) thru to BOPs.  There is a pace and runner to suit everyone to match up with.  I would guess a few of the BMMC might even get out there for a run and there will be enough pace amongst them to keep you cruising along.  Much more runnable course than Black Stump with a good mix of single trail and fire trail.

Enough banging on about the run.  If you want a good hitout, IMO you will get one.

Aw sorry I will miss your bbq mouse :good: I'm out for this one now, another commitment has come up and takes priority.  I bought an Australian flag cosie though!  It's brand new size 10 if anyone wants it - free to good home.  I think it would fit Housedad or Coogee, although you guys might need a bit more padding in the bust...

Enjoy the run everyone, it is a great day out!

Pity you can't make it Carmen.  You are right, I am quite flat chested, maybe I'll have to buy a box of tissues to provide some extra padding.

I'm out for this one too; like Carmen, a commitment takes priority: my befuddled brain has only now realised that my son's departure out of Heathrow at 9pm on the 24th and arrival at 7am Sydney means 7am the 26th, not the 25th. Umm, and yes I was tossing up for him to catch a cab home so I can sing Advance Australia Fair at Glenbrook instead. Me -> model parent.

Have fun, sorry to miss out on a great trail run and the social get together at the weir afterwards.

Trying to work out a few things for the run.  Can anyone that is thinking of coming up throw up a post so we have an idea of numbers.  Got to get some fluids organised for 2 drops and knowing how many look like coming will be handy.  We had around 50 last year, so expecting similar.

There are a few runners doing the overnight camping stuff.  Thus far I think SMC42K, SirRunalot, Mick, Loneranger, Spud and family, B2/B1 (maybe), Slowmaniac (usually) so it should be a nice turnout.  Whoever gets in first might have to stake a claim on best site on offer.  I have an idea of a good one, but have to see if it is available.

Can I ask any of the campers to bring a bit of extra water and we can use it down the Euroka drop.  I will have a 15L container with water/ice, plus a few 2L juice bottles.  I will also have a family esky to put all the bottles in.  Still handy to have some extra water and esky down there, particularly if it is a hot day.  I will most likely also get some bananas or similar, but if you have a bag of lollies, some oranges etc that might be nice for a runner that has done 32km by this point, again bring it along.

Checking the markets today and plenty of Aussie kit available.  The running gods have shone on us and Brettsrun, secretary of AURA has put up a gift voucher for $50 to be spent on quality 2XU gear.  Many thanks to AURA and the great work they do in the ultra community.   Dont forget if you are dipping your toe in the ultra arena, check out AURA and consider becoming a member (shameless plug for AURA membership).  Voucher will be given out to best dressed themed runner on the day.  Plenty of incentive to hit the dollar shops and buy up big.

Put me down as a very possible starter, due to various reasons i've taken a long time to sort out Mansfield to Buller 50K on the Sunday so will be driving down from the Gold Coast, doubt i'll drive back the Sunday night so an easy drive to the Blue Mountains for a run on Tuesday sounds awful tempting. Will confirm next weekend but all being well sounds prefect as i get back into running in 2010,
Kelvin

Anyone want to car pool from THE SHIRE? WallyGator, does this interest you?
I will have to give this one a miss as the fitness has gone way down.  Can't even do 10km at the moment.

I'm new to coolrunning and haven't done a fatass run before. I was hoping to do the run sounds great, but won't be going all the way, perhaps only 25-30k.

So if you could add me to the list that would be great

Cheers

I will most likely also get some bananas or similar, but if you have a bag of lollies, some oranges etc that might be nice for a runner that has done 32km by this point, again bring it along.
I should be able to do a case of oranges. They will be seconds, but that only affects the skin and they are the same inside.

PS Rod tells me a few will have MTBs. I'm bringing mine and will hopefully get there mid afternoon on Monday for an easy exploration ride.

Thanks Mick, much appreciated.  We can divide them between the two aid spots to keep the runners fuelled up.  I hope these were legitimately obtained and not collected during the Orchard run this morning???
