Did the 8km and was a bit of a slog, but got there in the end. Just want to give a big wrap to Ayla2010 & kb, saw you both out on the course today. You both did an amazing job to keep going and get the job done. At that distance, that's what it's about.Times are something you look at down the track. And to back up Ayla, to do that distance in challenging conditions after doing West Met on that tough course at Emu Plains yesterday, I dips my lid to you. Amazing stuff.Hope kb & Ayla, your both having a well earned rest this arvo, you deserve it.

Sooo nice to see you again kb !!! Races haven't been the same without you there.
I was very pleased just to complete the 16km event at a steady-ish pace. I think I must have slowed down a fair bit on the second lap. It certainly felt like it. I needed your pace-setting company Crabby - you looked to be running very well in your event. For the last few kms I focussed on a couple who were running a little way ahead of me and just tried not to let the mental tow-rope snap.
I didn't mind the conditions. The rain was gentle and I was grateful that the gusty winds whipping around Kogarah this morning weren't blowing in Mirambeena. It was terrific to see a much bigger turn-out than there was for this event last year, even despite the rain, and I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere on the course.
Congratulations to everyone who ran and many thanks to the Sri Chinmoy folks who were out there from 4am setting up the course and facilities for us all today.

My second half was slower than my first.
I keep thinking I should be worrying about how slow I am, but yes it was my longest run so far, and I walked very few short times (damn hills!) and how overweight I still am and its still good for me for a long run, so overall I am happy. I really wanted to quit, and it would have been easy to. But I just didn't want to give in.

KB, it was great to see you again, you looked very comfortable.
Great to see Slowmo too as always. I was a little slow over the 8km, I think it's me that needs you to set the pace Slowmo!!
And congrats to John dawlings for another brilliant run...
And thanks to the wonderful Sri Chinmoy people for another wonderful event.

Good to see Crabby and Slomo too.
Just coudn't get my legs going this morning - no doubt an after effect of drinking far too much beer and wine last night cheering on the Waratahs. But somehow the legs kept moving even though it was hard work from the very beginning. Did a fairly big negative split so finished strongly on the flat sections. The uphills killed me and that isn't very encouraging with the City to Surf looming. Still 66.19 by my watch is my fastest over the distance for quite some time and that was not an easy course.
Shame about the poor turn out. The threatening weather wouldn't have helped of course - but in fact it was beautiful conditions for running. Well, providing you got back before the rain set in that is!
And once again my thanks to the wonderful people at Sri Chinmoy.

It was so good to see some favourite old faces - Slowmo (hugs) and Crabby - and it was a pleasure to meet and run with Ayla (aka Karen). You did an awesome job Ayla. As I said to you yesterday, a victory in tough conditions makes you stronger. I'm glad you didn't quit and it was fantastic to be there to see you finish.
I'm in training for Sydney Marathon and my program yesterday called for a 16km run. Sri Chinmoy Mirambeena = perfect!
I needed to sit on about 7:40 mins/km to get the job done and hubby wanted me to do a negative split. The first 8km I ran in 1:03 and the second 8km I ran in 1:00. I felt pretty solid for the first 13km but then my legs decided they had had enough and I really had to dig deep to get home. Despite feeling pretty average at the end my last kilometer was my fastest of the day (7:14).
It was a real family affair for me yesterday. Hubby and I ran the 16km, my sister ran the 8km and my nephew ran the 2 miles. They saved me some pancakes which I inhaled in record speed.
Thanks to the Sri Chinmoy people for putting on another great event.

I realised yesterday's run really was pretty good for me as last sundays long run of 14 km I did in 2:06 so yesterdays 16 in 2:12 was ok,
Legs have pulled up ok this morning, so I'm happy with that.

The Dolls Point event is coming up on the 10th July. Being in Kogarah, I think of this one as my local race.
Prachar's description is particularly poetic: "The only race of the Sri Chinmoy Series to be held by the sea, this course has the added feature of sweeping panoramic views as you cross the soaring Captain Cook Bridge, over the expansive mouth of the Georges River"
How could you possibly resist that ? See you there.

No, the Centennial Park race is in September now. Below is an email from Prachar, the race director, about the changes to the schedule.

---
Dear runners
Races 6 and 7 of the Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series for 2011 have now swapped places in the calendar.
* the Sri Chinmoy Centennial Park Half-Marathon, 7 km & 4 km cross-country runs originally scheduled for Sunday 31 July (originally race 6) will now be staged on Sunday 11 September, as race 7 of the Series; and
* the Sri Chinmoy Prospect Creek 24 km, 12 km & 6 km runs originally scheduled for Sunday 11 September (originally race 7) will now be staged on Sunday 31 July, as race 6 of the Series.
The revised schedule is now published.
This change was brought about by a double booking for Centennial Park on 31 July, with a major cycling race.
* All who have already entered the Centennial Park events on 31 July, are now automatically entered into the same events on 11 September; and
* all who have already entered the Prospect Creek events on 11 September, are now automatically entered into the same events on 31 July.
If you have already entered either event, and it does not suit you to transfer your entry to the new date, please advise us if you would like a full refund or you would prefer your entry transferred to another event in the Series.
Those who have entered the full series, are also automatically entered into the same events on the new dates, and are also entitled to a refund if either of these dates or locations does not suit.
Online entry for Race 5 of the Series – the Sri Chinmoy Dolls Point Half-Marathon, 10 km & 5 km runs next week on Sunday 10 July – which had been suspended while we resolved what was happening with the calendar, is now re-open.
We apologise for any inconvenience these changes may cause, and assure you we will continue to strive to offer a wonderful racing, running or walking experience at all future Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series events.
Thank you for your understanding
Prachar Stegemann

Despite being dosed up on Neurofen and Bisolvon, and not sure how I would go.....I managed a 31sec PB for the course and 10km overall, so really happy with my run! Still slow by most standards, but I'm really pleased. Good to see all the familiar faces and some I haven't seen for a while, and saw BernieG briefly out for her Sunday run too. Some great fast runs out there, and well done to negsplit for a blistering win in the 5km...with special shoes!
Love this course, and always feel better when I challenge the bridge...and come out on top!

I have never run in winds like today. Absolutely extraordinarty going over the bridge for the second time when the wind had really picked up. I was literally leaning sideways into the wind in an effort not to get blown over.
One of the Woodstock runners claims to have come last in the 10 kms so Keg will be pleased to have beaten someone!
Many thanks to the people at Sri Chinmoy for another really well organised run and pancakes to die for.

Was worried about some of the lighter runners on the bridge- Thought someone would be blown over the fence onto the road.
Good to see so many CRs turn out. Thought I was impervious to cold but was outdone by the bloke just wearing lolly pink speedos....Next time I'll bring a towel and go for a swim- that'll be hard to beat. Wasn't sure whether I would run without a lot of pain due to a black and swololen toe ( probably broken ) but wasn;t too bad. i might be getting slower but am getting tougher.Next week the 10k at Hunter valley- can't be worse than last time I ran there...

Even with the sideways bits, I really enjoyed the half. It was especially nice to run with the company and good conversation of Minus15 for most of the race, although I note that despite telling me several times that we should pace ourselves and not run too fast, he took off like a rocket in the last few kms
Great to see such a good turn-out and so many friendly faces. Big thanks to the Sri Chinmoy folks for a really good morning.

"The all-consuming focus was on staying upright and making forward progress against the onslaught of battering cross-winds, winds so strong that several runners lost their chest numbers to the skies, and wearers of spectacles had to carry their glasses in their hands for fear they would fly out over the Pacific. Runners were bent sideways against the gale, each footfall a grateful reminder of the benevolence of gravity."

I emailed him and got a reply to say no cutoff time. Am still tossing whether to do it though as not keen to be the only one still running long after the rest have finished.

The Sri Chinmoy folk are very inclusive and really encourage participation at all levels. I would have been very surprised if Prachar had said they would enforce a cut-off on a course where road closures and the like are not issues.
Given you have W2B coming up, which is a lot longer and tougher race than the SC this weekend, what would you be doing to prepare for W2B this weekend if you didn't run a Prospect? 24km on your own?
Sure it may be a little lonely at the back between drink stations, but doing the run may help your chances of having a little more company at W2B.
