Hi Ingrid,

Thankyou for sharing the coupon.  Very timely as I used it as a birthday present for a mate in Sydney (and one for me).  We both chose to put our blood type and allergy information on one of the lines.

Jeff.

Just ordered mine in anticipation of getting over an injury and getting back out there. Haven't pulled the shoes on for three and a half months.

thanks Davo, needed that. I dug out an old medical name tag I had laying around, added my details then went out for a run. On the run I nearly got run down by a Pink Hyundai and collected by inconsiderate cyclists.

It's not the first time I have nearly been hit by cars so at least now I know I can get home dead or alive.

Sorry to hear that Bobble. That means you haven't run much since Bruny. Hope you can get back into it soon.

This is a good accessory and smart.  Just last Saturday at the radio, hearing that a man collapsed in the corner of Victoria road and Darling street, rushed to the hospital and died.  No identifications but his clothes description announcing to the publich whoever had a man left for running in the morning please go see the morgue .. ughh!  (sad news .. we don't want to be one of this cases)

Been carry my driver's license but i had my RoadId  on order :Nail Biting:

Thanks ThePostman, I have just been across to the site and it looks good, quite a fashion accessorie I think!

Just wondering has anyone bought the ankle or wrist high vis bright bands? I am thinking the ankle ones will do two purposes at once, when cycling. Keep me safe and keep my pants out of the chain...

I'd love to hear and then I will order. It does seem like a great idea...

I have road ID and use it all the time as I am a type 1 diabetic. It doesn't matter if you are going far away from home or just around the corner. For me this could definately be a lifesaver.

At first I tried: "Just how much fun can I have before I have to go to hell?" but it wouldn't fit, and it occurred to me later that it's probably not the best caption to have on your emergency tag.

Cheers,

I have a question.

When ordering they ask you what size your wrist is, and to measure using a dollar bill.  We don't have those kinds of things available.  What size note has been used to check size?

I just used a measuring tape as it mentions the wrist sizes in inches for each road id size.

At the risk of being sensible, you may want to consider putting your blood group on that last line.

Try a measuring tape with inches on it,  6 1/4" - 8" is Med

Road ID is really an excellent thing. However, I find out something that works fine, too, and did not cost me an extra money: I have Polar RS800SD and I can program the "logo" that is displayed on watch. It is done by using the Polar Personal Trainer 5 software (included with the HRM). So, I just drew my name and phone number in software and uploaded the image to the watch.

I don't know whether to get teh wrist, ankle or shoe ID.

Who has what and what do you notice the least? I mean, which is the least annoying?

I have the shoe ID solace (although I am starting to think I may have thrown it out with the old shoes) and it is completely unnoticeable. Except of course when you are somewhere non running related and have to explain it. 'This is in case I am unconscious (best case scenario) and someone needs to identify me' doesn't translate well...

still too lazy to take it off though! and it wouldn't get back on...

I have the wrist one and I really don't notice it at all when I'm running.  I wear it on the opposite wrist to my Garmin and neither is a problem.

I don't think I'd want it to be too unobtrusive because, to be honest, having worked in emergency departments, I'm not sure if something on a shoelace would actually be noticed.

Thanks Orlando, that's what I was thinking as well. No point having it if no one sees it. I ahd the same thought about an ankle id.

Sounds like wrist is the go. :)

I ordered a wrist one and it arrived earlier this week. I had to get blue cos they'd run out of small pink ones. It looks good enough to leave on all the time. Only worn it for 1 run so far and didn't notice it at all.

I have been considering the Road ID as well, but the interactive one.

I received confirmation from the US that the Road Interactive ID (with an Asutralian contacnt number) is now available.

Does anyone else have the interactive (web based) version? It does seem good to have up to date information on phone #'s & a lot more data.

Thought it might be a good time to raise this topic again just to remind everyone how important it is to have some sort of id on you when out running, etc - especially after what has happened to that young woman in Altona this morning

So, does anyone in Oz have the interactive one? I like the idea of it always being up to date (as long as you update it, of course!), but it loses a bit of value if it a US only kind of thing.

You've probably figured it out by now StellaBella but on mine I have my full name-Diabetic on Insulin-In case of emergency contact my partners full name and his mobile number.

Some people have mentioned having ID in other places like the watch and shoe. Although it's good as you still have ID, you have to be careful as it has to be obvious to the ambulance/help. When the ambulance /help arrives are they going to think to look at your watch/shoe for ID.
I think necklaces/bracelets/wristbands are the most obvious places.

I agree, Yondi. That's why I'm not so keen on the shoelace one - I'm not convinced that anyone would look there! Perhaps paramedics would (maybe), but not the average good samaritan that found me in the street.

I have the reflective red ankle version.  You can't miss it.  Info on board:

my name (obvious!)
SYDNEY AUSTRALIA (I travel a bit)
WIFE +61 412 ... ... (her number with international codes)
DAD +61 ... ... ...
FARM +61 ... ... ... (its number for when I am running in the bush out there)
A POS, BORN 19.., DONOR   (blood, age, and yep, give my heart away!).

Damn good idea, and cheap.

So, does anyone in Oz have the interactive one? I like the idea of it always being up to date (as long as you update it, of course!), but it loses a bit of value if it a US only kind of thing.

I have not got one yet, on account of being injured & not too focussed on running.

But I received the following email from Road ID US :

""Good news. We just added an Interactive number specifically for our Australian customers.

Just let us know immediately after your purchase, and we'll update your ID with the Australian number: +61 8 71232338""

:D
