So fess up, how many people have over indulged over the past month?

Today was my first proper training set for about a month and wow I felt terrible.  I have been on a downhill spiral since the Mebourne Half Marathon where my eating and training have been very ordinary to say the least(+5kg worse).  I need to make a stand and get the eating/training balance back to where it was in 2011.

It's easy to pike on the healthy eating, consistant training thing alone so lets band together.  Hopefully with a bit of support on here we can help keep each other on the wagon.

So who's in??

I have had a bit of a run of bad events meaning I'm in much the same place.

A holiday in November where I didn't train much and had a bad deit followed by a problem with my ankle and the holiday over indulgence period means I'm behind the 8 ball.

I've pulled my km's right back to 30 per week and will slowly build again trying to keep the ankle happy along the way with a view to running my first half at the SMH half in Sydney with the help of some cross training on the bike and in the pool.

I need to concentrate on my diet though and lose about 5kg's.

I'm in! I've been suffering a terrible case of Plantar Fascitiis the last few months of 2011 which has all about abolished my weekly mileage and without the routine of training to keep me on track my diet has gone a bit crazy.

I'm still restricted to swimming and bike riding (although I am sneaking in a run here and there) for another week or two, but losing the weight will definately help with the injury (being a bigger runner has probably helped cause the injury). I'm committed to losing 4kg by Feb 11th - the Falls Creek Half Marathon.

Good work guys, the first few weeks is going to be the hardest to get back on track but I'm sure once back on the wagon we should be able to stay there :)

I'm in!

feeling fat, bloated, and need cake and beer...(am I due a man period?)

I got my Camelbak Octane 24 3l for crimbo and just ordered a pair Salomon XA Pro from the website we are not allowed to mention.
So now there is no excuses that I cant compete in Perths trail series this year.

I'm also going to start to run to work, not the whole 60km, but I'll get off the train at Canning Bridge and run the last 8 1/2km.

yeah I got a bit stuck into pre-Christmas parties etc and put on 4 kg. An email a couple of days before xmas advising I am through to the medical and fitness test stage of a job application turned me around quick smart :). 1 kg left to get back to where I was but I would like to shave a further 3 kg or so from that so I'll join your bandwagon!

Yes...to add another female voice to a (surprisingly??) male-dominated 'I'm so fat' thread....

Between being off running for several months last year with pf and the recent overeating season, I definitely have 5kg to lose.

Looking to be meaner and leaner by Feb!

Just weighed in for the first time since christmas, up almost a kg. In 2011 I had put on 10kg post melbourne marathon 2010, but had manage to loose 4kg before christmas.. so still 7kg to go till i get to my preferred running weight.

I too suffered at the hands of the Darryl Lea Nougat pudding, plus all the other cake, lollies, ham, and turkey that my family kept insisting I eat.

Who in their right mind takes up running a month before Christmas - Me

6Kgs overweight in November, lost a kilo in the first month then added 4 over Christmas.

Now I'm back in the saddle? (you know what I mean) and pumping out the k's.

Off for my first BBQ Stakes today at lunchtime. 34 degrees should make me sweat some of that sugar/cider out of the system    :shok:

On track here, had a nice pain free run yesterday and a good diet day even though we were at an RSL for a Birthday. Had some Barramundi with vegies, no mash. It's funny, healthy food is always delicious when you have it in front of you, it's unfortunate it's made so easy these days to eat junk.

I am in, great idea....

I will donate 2.0 kg to the cause, gained over 3 weeks leading up to Christmas/New Year.  Mrs Turtle is joining me with her 2.0kg.

We both started last night with the first decent meal for 2 weeks.  Then we both went running this morning on our own seperate programs, 12 km for me and 6 km for Mrs T.

Best wishes to all.

Count me in.

I have had 6 months of inconistent training since birth of my second daughter, 6 months old now and still not sleeping.  but enough is enough.

Was off for a week over christmas and got 2 good runs in before new years.  I got my first run of the new year in yesterday morning, a slow 7km at 05.00am, it felt great to be up and running again.  The trick now is to back it up tomorrow morning with another one.

Good to see everyone joining in, makes me feel less guilty. A little less :)

Had another decent run yesterday but had a bit of a stitch which stopped me halfway. Legs are struggling but I put that down to a weight's sesion earlier in the week and a bike ride on the weekend.

A swim tonight to make sure that little injury doesn't flare up again.

Diet still going well.

I'm in.  I'm fat and slow.  Tipping the scales at 86kgs.  Typing one handed right now as there is a beer in the other.

Should I cancel my Gold Coast Turf Club membership before the Magic Millions?

Weight: 90kg
Difference since last week: 0kg

Had another 'festive season' day on Wednesday which blew away any progress I had made in the previous few days. Meant to be another 'catch up' tonight, and a BBQ on Sunday... then surely it is over for the year??

You better not....

Dropped .5kg since we started this.  Showed up at training this morning before checking my schedule and one of the emails sent out by the coach to find out the session had been cancelled, I was kind of happy cause I'm in a world of hurt after yesterdays hill session.

Well, when all the dust settled after a big family BBQ on New Year's Day it turned out I was actually 6kg over where I would like to be. Have now dropped 1kg of that this week, so back to 5kg to go, as I originally posted.

Having a birthday between Christmas and New Year and being well known as a chocoholic meant being inundated with boxes of chocolates by well-meaning relatives who couldn't think of anything else to give me....have now cleared all this backlog (I find it easier to get through chocolates as fast as possible to get them out of the house...) and will not be buying more.

Now it only remains to wean myself of Coke (my guilty summer pleasure) and back onto mineral water and the readout on the scales should improve.

I'm running and/or swimming each day, and particularly running hills and intervals, so the weight should start to melt off....

Good luck everyone!

Managed to get up at 05.00 this morning and do another lazy 7km despite being up between 12.30 and 01.30 with a screaming baby.

Haven't gone near the scales yet so will starve myself today and jump on tonight.  Even if no weight loss I am still happy I managed 2 morning runs this week despite sleep deprivation torture!!

Still got a whole bunch of christmas goodies left in the cupboard so I think I will make a big push to consume all this weekend and build up the energy for 4 runs next week..!

First weigh in is 77.8kg. Worse than I thought but somewhere to start. Hoping for consistent half kg losses considering I still like to have a beer or three on the weekend :)

Another slow 6km's this morning, legs are super lethargic for some reason.

Starving yourself for a day will do more harm than good. Getting back into a proper eating routine is the best way to reduce weight and maintain the loss. Anyway who are you really fooling?

I'm in! Hit the plateau of weight loss  in September (28kg down after baby 3) and have put back on 5kg where it doesn't need to be. Home with 3 kids and love to run..... and to bake..... and to eat   :Worried:

Today is 66.  Bought some protein powder to fill the bottomless pit, hopefully next Friday I'll be down on the scales!

For some reason I had developed the idea that if I run a lot then I can eat whatever I want whenever I want.  Sadly, this seems not to be the case.  Fat and sugar laden indulgence quickly overtakes even fairly high volume running.

Looking back on last year I see that I maintained my lowest weight when injured for 2 months - probably because I was careful with what I ate for that time.

Time to exercise some restraint.  Ok, I confess to, on regular basis, recovering from my long run with a coke and vanilla slice.  Perhaps some better choices need to be made.

Done ok on the exrcise front so far this week. Ridden the pushy to work and back every day this week 22k/day, run 15k three times late at night @9pm and been to the gym once and give myself a floggin' there. Diet hasn't been too bad, although will admit to having a little accident with a part open box of Maltesers. I have come across three other of my stashed chocolate supplies but 'donated' them to my kids, not a bad outcome, got my car and bike washed, lawns cut and washing up done a few nights into the bargain. See how I've done tonight,eh?

Much better than expected on the scales- I was almost disappointed as I was hoping it might explain my woeful running performances of late.  Feeling better for eating better though.Only about 1.5kgs above best racing weight but about 1-2mins/km over.

was deff kidding myself, didn't manage to starve myself for even 4 hours as someone decided it would be a good idea to have pizza for lunch at work..yummy!

Thats OK I rarely put on weight fro one good meal anyway, proper eating routine for me starts tomorrow, honestly.

Hi all

We did a weigh in this morning, Mrs T dropped 0.4kg, me 0.5kg in a bit under a week, this is a very good result. We can both conclude we feel SO much better, back eating better and exercising. Lots of common sense food choices and gearing up our own running programs seems to be working.

Weight: Its easy to put on, and hard to sustainably take off!

Best wishes to all, lets all keep going and get our own personal targets sustainably.

Mark

Hi Everyone

I put on 12KG early last year on holiday, took off 7 now have put on another 4kg. leaving me a grand total of 9kg bigger than my clothes!!

I ran the full Melb Marathon last year and hoped that training for this would help me shed some weight, instaed it just made me hungry and tired.
I am starting today to adopt a healthy eating plan  and try to get back into running etc. Since the marathon I have found that my legs feel like lead and I still seem to be tiring easily. How long does it take to get over....I thought it wouldn't have much effect as I run so slowly (5hrs 24)

Any info greatly received
will give results of weigh in on Friday

Good luck everyone
Jayne

The scales this morning had me back at my pre-festive weight, despite more festivities over the last two days.  However some of that might be fluid loss from this morning's long run. On the other hand I reckon my guts are still carrying about a kilo of chicken saagwala with garlic naan from yesterday :).  We'll see. Would still  like to drop another 3 kg or so anyway.

Got on the scales on Friday night and it seems my pizza lunch got the better of me, gained 0.3Kg for the week.  Got in 2 gym sessions over the weekend and the diet was pretty clean, but missed my morning run today due to baby screaming for 3 hours through the night.  Going to have to do a catch up run this evening once the kiddies are in bed.

Had an ordinary weekend to put it nicely.  Had a really good long run on Saturday morning but blew the diet big time catching up with a mate who is over from New Zealand.  This is going to be my first week back in full training and I got a swim in at the pool this morning so hopefully with the increased workload I should be able to melt a little of the excess baggage away this week.

My weekend wasn't too bad. Some beers Friday and Saturday night but no midnight snacks afterwards and diet was mostly good. Could be tidied up a little more diet wise and one more night of the booze would help (though I'm not sure it'll happen).

Hoping to see some change on Friday after a week of solid exercise.

I was travelling along pretty well until Saturdays run, felt a sharp pain in my right knee at the end of the run, struggled through and got home OK. Did a short run with my son yesterday and after about 2km it was back.  Looks like a few days rest for me, a short test run and if no joy....off to our local physio who is a also a CR.  Very frustrating.

Mrs T is nailing it big time. Go her.

Good to hear others news, keep going!

Mr T, not good news about your knee.  Hopefully it is nothing serious and you will be back running after a couple of days rest.

I Managed to get a run in yesterday evening to make up for the one I missed in the morning, but alas my scheduled run for this morning was again missed due to lack of sleep.  Looks like my morning schedule is moving to an evening schedule at least until my daughter learns how to sleep a bit better.
