How about we catch up for lunch after the run on Sunday at one of the local pubs. Would be nice to finally put faces to names and also a good
way to celebrate 'barefoots' recent 100th australian marathon in sydney.
After my 2 recent disastrous half's, I am hoping that my new training program gets me back under the magical 2 hour mark. Although I did run 2 hours and 2 seconds here last year.
The Entrance Hotel (or more affectionately known as 'The bottom pub') is a great place to grab lunch after the event. That's where the volunteer crew heads for a few well deserved beverages once it's all done!

There's plenty of golf courses around!!! The closest would be Shelly Beach Golf Club http://www.tlgc.com.au/, or Magenta Shores at North Entrance http://www.magentago.../directions.php
If you're looking to make a weekend of it, it would be wise to check out accommodation as soon as you can. Some people had difficulty getting bookings closer to the date last year!
Good luck

Gat hubby to register on this site: http://www.ezlinks.com/directory.asp as they often have one of the best courses on the coast where you can get a cheap round with a buggy - Kooindah Waters . It is free to register.

Also looking to break the magic 90 min barrier - have a 1:30:12 and a 1:30:38 under my belt this year and am ramping up the training. Maybe we could pace each other. Anyone else interested in a sub 90 bus?

Doing it with a friend who has never done this distance, should I do the honourable thing and pace him or should i go for a PB?

We have a link up to the event t-shirts now. If you'd like to purchase one, just go to:
http://centralcoasthalfmarathon.com/ and click on 'Buy the shirt'. Shirts can only be pre-purchased online, and will be available for pick up at the event.
Alternatively, you'll have an option to purchase a shirt when you register for the event if you haven't done so already.
Thanks!

Will be a DNS for me. Had knee problem for 3 weeks now, not getting better. Brought about by running too much, too fast, too soon. Last good run was race pace over this course, was really looking forward to this one.
Will take the kids down and cheer those who are running instead. Good luck all!

A further suggestion, if your planning to refil a small bottle, is there are toilet blocks (if my memorys right) at about 16km & 18km on the way back. You'll pass them on the way out. The only real hill to speak of is not long after the 18km toilet block so if you can get to 16km using the water you start with you can refil there, rehydrate & refil again at 18km. That should get you back.
Hope to be there with you on the day.
Cheers

That is such an impressive change, Hoary!! Good luck with your first half!
I'm looking forward to seeing a number of CRs there, less than a fortnight from now. This will be my first race in around 6 months after several months off with injury, so it will be a test. I've managed 4 x 20km+ training runs in the last month, so I am fairly confident of getting through to the end OK, but time will be an issue. I'm still running at +7min/kms, and would definitely like to lower that on the day. I haven't come last in a race yet, and don't want to start now ....
Will be running with my son and possibly also a friend (both of whom will finish about 40 mins ahead of me), so looking forward to this.

I've not done nearly enough long runs for this one, but am going to do it anyway and give it my best! This will be my first cc half and only second ever half. Just wanted to confirm- there are no drink stations or anything like that along the way? Do most people carry their own water?
Cheers,
Chon

tell me, how do you spot other CR runners?? Is there a special glare or handshake I don't know about ??? lol
Do the CR runners gather at a special pub or place after this race???

There have definitely been drinks stations along the way the past couple of years, so I imagine they will be there again this year. Plus at the end last year there was plenty of fresh fruit, and I think a free sausage sizzle (about the last thing I feel like after a half...!). I can't remember what the interval spacing of the drinks stations was, so I'll leave that for the organizers to comment on. But there was water plus electrolyte drinks, as I recall. And jelly snakes one year, though I don't remember them last year.
Just checked the website: this was under FAQS: 'There will be three (3) water stations for the Fun Runners and six (6) water stations for the Half Marathon Runners.'
Hoary: you can recognize CRs when they wear a CR singlet and/or hat (blue and yellow). And if you wear one, they will recognize you and call out encouragement to you. Plus over the past year or two I've met some CRs at various events and I know a couple who are planning on doing this half, so I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

Last year I hardly did any long runs before this event and paid for it in the final few km's. I vowed never to do that again, so this year...... I've followed exactly the same preparation and have hardly done any long runs

Starting to look forward to this now. I'm lucky enough to have family in the area to stay with the night before so won't need to head out as early as others coming from Sydney.

I won't have on a CR item but I will be wearing my Coast Runner flouro singlet and my green Optus cap if anyone wants to boot me up the arse as they come through....
Hang around at the end as they have some good prizes to give away. Last year I won a pair of shoes and in less than 2 weeks they will be in their first HM...

Thanks to those who have jumped in and answered the water station questions! I'm currently in Thailand and have left the thread a bit neglected! But yet - we put a fair bit of work into the FAQ's on the website so hopefully they cover most things!
Looking forward to the big day - not long to go now

According to map my run & other maps the half starts pretty much under the bridge & finishes there as well ..out & back......is that correct ???
The reason I ask is that on the website is says' starts under the bridge & finishes memorial park'.... so Im assuming its close to the same place ??

This one will also mark my 10th HM (and second at CC)! Hoping to celebrate with a PB, sub 90min.
I think i've done the training for it, but i've never been so anxious about a half since my first one - I think its because I really want this sub 90min time. Hopefully the heat/humidity won't be too sapping.
Good luck all

HM goes past my house but not ready for that sort of distance yet as will only be finishing my c25k on Wednesday morning. Be sure to cheer on the young looking grey haired dude with the pot belly who finishes the 10k between 60 & 70 mins. Will try to keep enough in the tank for a glory dash at the end.

Christine - thanks for all your input so far! I havent come across a part on the website where can purchase the shirts (and as I registered a while ago, it wasnt an option then). Will there still be decent sizes of shirts available on the day?
See you all there!

Back from Thailand now - sorry for the lack of attention here!
@isthisname taken - I'll check about the km markers and get back to you asap.
@slowlybutsurely - Yep - shirts will be available for purchase on the day. We did have an option to pre-purchase the shirt (must have gone up after you registered), but we're had to close the pre-purchase off so we could get final number for printing. We're printing some extras so people can also purchase on the day.
Hope this helps!
Any other last minute questions?
Kristy x
