Yeah, before it rains....

I'm not in a team this year.  Maybe next year when I'm a little closer to the action (geographically spekaing).

Correct Brick. Maps etc have already been sent to those that have registered

The only difference from last year is the section from Ararat Oval to Seaforth Oval, it is now fairly straight along wide firetrail, bypassing the technical section next to the river.

Found an unexpected hazard on the course about 2-3km north of Jerusalem Bay this morning.

Adult male without a stitch of clothing. No shoes, hat, backpack, nothing.

What made it worse was that it occured in a steep sandstone section and he was descending and I had to wait until he was clear before proceeding.

Saw a pile of clothes and assorted food items at the bay.

Maybe this is what happens to barefoot runners, the condition spreads ...

Hi

I’m now looking to swap teams for oxfam this year, as after training with my team last week, it looks like an 18hr  - sub 20hr pace is going to be more realistic for me rather than the 16hr goal my team is aiming for. So if there are any teams around this pace that need another team member, drop me a PM.

Cheers,
CP

inekuips
Crazypup
Koala1 (provided her foot comes good)
Carmen

Hoping to do around 20 hours.  It's going to be GREAT!

Hang on - we have to re-jigg our time estimate - lets say we will aim for under 24 hours and see how much we can surprise ourselves.  How does that sound team?  :)

Sounds like foxing. Your 20 hour goal time is out there now. The all woman teams will not be discounting you now  B)

Since I missed a few training sessions with my team due to marathon taper, I'm doing a session on my own tomorrow morning.

Will start at 7am at Brooklyn if anyone else is keen. I won't be going like a lunatic, will be walking anything up or technical and trying to run the flats and downs. Hoping to get to at least CP4.

It was surprisingly warm on the course today for the middle of winter.

Only saw one other TW team on the course and managed to scare all of them even though I said hello from about 5 metres away. There were a couple of large groups of GNWers, but they saw me coming and all moved off the trail.

Here's what I managed to eat on the course today, it was only just enough (in order)
5l of water + 0.6l of lemon cordial (started with 3l and topped up at Berowra)
Banana
Cadbury Brunch bar
2 mandarines
Jam sandwitch
2 GUs
Jam sandwitch
1 mandarine
Large piece of fruit cake
Museli bar
Still had 0.6l of gatoraide
Still had packet of peanuts and lollies if desperate

I got to CP4 and then walked 7km to Turramurra station to get back to my car. Got an apple slice and flavoured milk from cake shop at North Turramurra that was heaven.

I was trying to take it easy, but somehow ended up with a new max HR of 195 on that steep tar road when you are nearly at Mt Kuringai. I was feeling pretty stuffed here, so I think it was fatigue related. Had the big slice of fruit cake here and it perked me up.

Sounds like a nice run - I would much rather have been out there today than in the office. Looking forward to getting out there on the weekend.

Meanwhile Beaver is busy taking in the sights on foot of Brisbane tonight ....

I was trying to take it easy, but somehow ended up with a new max HR of 195 on that steep tar road when you are nearly at Mt Kuringai. I was feeling pretty stuffed here, so I think it was fatigue related. Had the big slice of fruit cake here and it perked me up.

This is the section we call "Driveway from Hell".  First time we saw it we were estatic thinking we were in civilisation so it should be mere seconds to Mt Kuring-gai.  Little did we know it went on and on for such a long stretch (those bends in the road are deceptive).

We're hardly runners and are a group of 12 firstimers trying to walk the 100kms so will end up at the Driveway from Hell (DFH) in the dark which makes it a little bit more palatable.

I just joined this forum so I could download that spreadsheet posted.  Thanks!
