I wonder whether we can get any mileage (so to speak) out of these awards - surely CR endorsement has to be worth something to our favorite running shops and magazines. Perhaps we can tart the wiki page up a bit with some nice graphics.
I think the suggestion from (I think) JoggerKev about adding a category for Newbie of the year for next year's awards is a great idea.

BUT can I suggest that when nominating someone next year it might be good to add what they have done in 2009 ? I for one just didn't register seeing Kurt's name and realise of course I should have voted for him - not that one vote would have made a difference -
And as I said - now we have voted Dog ambassador for 2008 shouldn't we send him somewhere to be our ambassador????? I'm with you there Tim!!
all the best everybody and WOOH congratulations
David

I also agree that we must send our newly annointed CR Ambassador somewhere to fulfil his ambassadorial duties.
Having had a quick look on the forums and taking a sampling of the states and territories from which people post, it is quite apparent one region is clearly underrepresented and is dire need of our Ambassador to the spread of the virtues of CR. Hence, I suggest we ship The Dog to Australian Antarctic Territory for the duration of his tenure.

Why not send Blue Dog to The White House?
As far as I know, President Obama is still looking for the dog that will become the family pet.
In an interview with Barbara Walters in November, the then President-elect dismissed the possibility of a “girly dog” and stated, “We’re going to have a big rambunctious dog of some sort.”
Blue Dog would fit the bill. [“The pick of the litter – half mongrel, half purebred”]
For some years, people have been saying that Australia has been a lap-dog of the (former) President. It’s time we changed the image. President Obama would be nuts (or nutless) to let Blue Dog anywhere near his lap.
But we would have to move quickly. Canada has a “labrapoodle” ready to be shipped. Peru has offered a monstrosity called a Peruvian Hairless Dog. Others are talking about a Portuguese Water Dog.
Surely Blue Dog would be a better choice?

I was looking for some appropriate lyrics and thought these fit well -
"take a look at me
tell me what do you see?
i've got all i want
i'm on top of the heap"

It is with great pride, yet even greater humility - I accept your votes anointing me to the esteemed position of CoolRunning Ambassador for the next 12 months.
There is indeed much work to be done. In order to facilitate a smooth-flowing term of office the "Correct Forms of Address" should be adopted. Some examples below -
Written Requests
"Your Eminence, I humbly beseech you to favourably consider" .... and then what it is you really want.
Social Occasions
"Excuse me Mr Ambassador, would you care for another beer?" (I do not expect to have to ask).
"Mr Ambassador, I must say you look fit, fast and fabulous." (My reply may be "And you Ma'am, look swift, smart and sassy!")
Racing - (some brevity allowable due to aerobic considerations)
"Sir, before you disappear into the distance; - those buns of yours must be straight from Bakers Delight!"
Or under lesser circumstances -
"Sir, you appear to be having a bad day. May I pass?"
**********************************************
I will work diligently to uphold the honoured position of Ambassador to the best of my ability, etc. etc. etc.
Blue Dog.

Had a delightful dinner engagement last night with CR Virtual who is briefly in town before returning to his base in Hong Kong.
Seizing a wonderful opportunity, at the end of the evening I appointed him as Ambassadorial Charge D'Affaires in South East Asia. He was delighted to accept the position and I'm sure will do a wonderful job attending to the myriad CR issues in that region. Congratulations Virtual.

So should Blue Dog take a leave of absence, you may well be in line for the position of 'Acting Ambassador' - ?

For instance, did anyone know about the Blue Dog Blog?
Apparently not, for it failed to register any votes or even a nomination in this year's Cr awards. Yet I feel his pearls of wisdom on many subjects such as knitting patterns and vegan recipes can add so much to all our lives.
Never one to blow his own trumpet, I will in this instance do it for him so that you all can benefit from his insight. Thank you Dog, your blog has helped me to broaden my horizons, and I at last feel able to live a worthwhile and fulfilling existence.
Yours in reverence, MJ.

Beware of cheap imitations, imposters and false prophets.
There is only one true Blue Dog, many pictures here.

And Tim. I hear you're over HTFU. Well good on you mate - after PNG gets it tattooed on the inside of his eyelids.
Mr BlueDog to assist your new position as CR ambassador - may I suggest this book. [attachment=3844:swagger2.jpg]
Cheers.
