If I procrastinate long enough it'll fill up and I'm off the hook for another year.  :(

OMG, that is just ridiculous. Sad in a way. This year they had over 1500 compete, i hope they are doing the right thing by redesigning the whole event.

I'm in by the skin of my teeth :(

It was amazing to see all my tri-buddies scrambling to find a laptop yesterday after Club Champs to get in entries.  All of us who wanted to get in are in but Im still amazed at the speed it sold out... I think alot will now go to NZ and why not it's cheaper than travelling to Busso and it is the second oldest Ironman race in the world.

Well there are still spots avail in the 70.3, so maybe if anyone missed out they can do the half and still be there for the atmosphere.

Mouse out training?

I am ready for the challenge of being one of Mouse's training buddies. For the bike and if the body regenerates the run.

BTW, no I didn't enter.

No. Was umming and ahhhing about if I could do the event, do the training etc. When (I should like to point out sober, I had a race today) at about 8pm I decided to enter and be damned - the bloody thing had sold out.

I can highly recommend NZ, but it will fill just as quickly as the others now.

What happened to getting three-quarters of the way through your training before committing to an IM?  BTW my next IM will be overseas - Canada and Arizona are favoured.  I don't like to join in unseemly bun-rushes  :(

yeah, hate the new entry system, shameless money grab, etc.. blah, blah.

I'm still one of the mugs who ponied up regardless. Have to give someone for mango to chase.

if nothing else, WTC have created their own unique race event which took place yesterday arvo. The scrambling for consistent phone reception while recovering in the spa after Club Champs while the remaining spots dwindled had just as much anxious fear, trepidation and excitement as any race day :(

Who added my name to the list?

Yes, I was another mug who got caught up in the hype and scare-mongering but figured I had make amends for this year's disaster so it was never going to be a question of whether I was or wasn't going to enter.

As for you, miners, did you just throw down the gauntlet?  I say bring it on!

yep, you certainly beat me.  After manic scrambling around the pool deck to get reception (dropping between 3G and edge, losing connection, starting over again ...) I didn't get in till after it was 85% full.

and yeah mango.  you and me in a big way next way.  In 3 previously failed attempts, I'm finally going to run that marathon

Yes - kb turned up at our unit at Club Champs and first thing she said was 'are you in??' I answered that I'd not looked at it yet. Then the mad panic started at our unit and the loud cheering each time someones entry was accepted... too funny !!

Ok, I'll start the 70.3 roll call. As we were driving home on Saturday after club champs, we rang our son to check if the 70.3 was filling too, so he entered me then and there.  :(

He belongs to a ski forum and he said the chat about IM was huge on there.

Having been too slow (see above) I've thrown my hat into the 70.3 ring. It wont hurt me to get a few shorter (relative term) tri's under the belt before taking on the big one.

This year was going to be my big come back to Ironmna race.
I checked the site on Sunday morning to find out all gone.

Thats life maybe 2012 come back, don't really care that much keeps the money on my mortgage at least.
If you hear of anymore slots coming available or a waiting list would appreciate a PM so I could try to get on to it.

Hey Miners, your so gone, Mango has some serious training partners here at P.I.S and he will be ready and willing to open up a can of whoop ass come May 1 2011.............assuming he stays upright...

There is a strong rumour that once the bike course is finalised that there may be extra places allocated 200-300. So keep your ear to the ground. Miners may here something first being a local.

yeah, am a bit worried about these P.I.S. blokes.  They may even teach him how to keep rubber-side down

Won't help him at C2S though.  I'll give him 90 seconds start :D

Ive heard the same thing. Once they agree on a bike course with the council there is the possibility of increasing the numbers. THey also have 75 spots over the 1000 left for legends and people who have completed over 10 of the races.

Mmm... ok, this does sound very interesting to me.  I must be living under a rock cause i've heard none of this before now.  I really hope they realease the extra spots cause I know some others who would snap them up.

Well the deed is done, young mgilla here has just entered his 2nd or 3rd 70.3

Not sure which one it will be as i'll have done at least 1 before I get around to this one.

Now, just have to start training for the first 1 in Oct,

Giddie up,

Your going to smash it up mate and then we can all party together afterwards.

PIS are a bunch of very dedicated guys who really know how to turn heads when out on the course.  Its great to see these clubs making an impact.
