Wingello Skinny Ass RunApril 11 long trail run

Thus the Wingello Skinny Ass run will be born on Sunday April 11, 2010. 25km/50km will start at 7.00am in campground at Wingello State Forest. One lap of the RED course is 25km; two laps is 50km. Other loops on other colours can be added on for variations on 25km or 50km. Lots of steep ups and downs- good training for North Face 100km. 90min drive from Sydney/90min drive from Canberra.
You will need to be self-sufficient with water, food, etc for 25km at a time, although the course maps will help you organise drop-offs at intermediate points with ease if required.
More directions, etc are here.

Wingello Skinny Ass Run
Hi Long Arms,
I'm walking for 6 hrs this weekend using the trails from Bundanoon to Penrose & Wngello & noticed in our local paper a council warning about burnoffs. Its rather vague because it depends on the weather but the time frame is March to the end of May. I thought you might like the contact number to check if they're burning that day - 02 64583177 (ask for Phil). Hopefully it will be smoke free on that Sunday.
I'm really lucky as the Highlands is a beautiful place to run & there are plenty of options. I'm often on the trails & would love to be able to say hi but I have promises to keep on the 11th.
Hope you have a great day & run strongly.

In April, I will leave it as is for now. The weekend before is Hellgate fatass run so don't want to calsh with that. The weekend after I will be in Perth at Commonwealth Games trials coaching. I reckon early/mid April is good timing to do one or two long hillly runs of 50km+ if you are aiming for North Face 100km.
Lindyk, thanks for the tip about the burning- I will call Phil.
Bert and Lotashare- hope you can make it!
For those navigationally challenged, there is virtually no chance of getting lost. There are Great North Walk style signs at every corner. They are bigger than the GNW signs and in bright red.

1.25km+25km+25km for 75km run
2.25km+25km+ 19km for 69km run
3.25km+19km+19km for 63km run
4.25km+25km+6km for 56km run
5.25km+25km for 50km run
6.25km+19km+6km for 50km run
7.25km+19km for 44km run
8.19km+19km for 38km run
9.19km+6km+6km for 31km run
10.25km+6km for 31km run
11.19km+6km for 25km run
12.25km run
13.19km run
14.6km run
Obviously longer options as well. For example, it is about 5km from Wingello village store and train station along a nice dirt road to the start/finish area. There are quiet dirt country roads, plus other forest roads, fire trails and single track branching off the marked trails.
I suggest that everyone starts their run by doing the 25km with the group at 7.00am, then completing their run to suit their needs after that. The 25km loop is very hilly, mainly single track. The 19km loop is pretty hilly, including some long steep hills, with some flatter secions- all dirt road and fire trail. The 6km loop is mainly flattish with some gentle hills.
Who's up for what distances? I will do run 3, 4 or 5 at this stage. Will check what others are doing.

I came to this thread to read about the run and I see I'm already registered! How's that for service? Thanks, Arms. I'm just wondering which of my husbands is going to run since they are both on the maybe list! And where's your better half's name? I hope she will join us for at least part of the track.

Question - the Trailflix website talks about the Blue, Yellow and Red trail - how do they correspond with the 25km, 19km and 6km loops?
I am definitely navigationally challenged, so the more information at my disposal prior the the big day, the better!

Raw Aussie Athlete. You may want to try and talk Kim Cook or Romeo into driving down. They would love the trail. Great to see some runners heading down from the Blue Mountains.

I really hope the weather holds out as there's a few showers around Sydney this week but a bit hard to predict this far out. Should be right.
I'm driving up from Goulburn on the morning and then back to Sydney after the run.
Thanks for organising Long Arms and see you all there!
