Maybe you should read the Athletics Info Guide haggis basher. It's all useful info, particularly this bit....
4.3 Confirmation of Entry
All athletes must declare their intention to compete to the Technical Information Centre for all
events they wish to contest.
4.3.1 Athletes in track and field events must declare as follows:
• A declaration to an event may be confirmed a maximum of one (1) day prior to the
competition or Tuesday for Thursdays events.
• For events that are scheduled prior to midday (12:00pm), declaration must be completed at
TIC by the TIC close time the previous night or Tuesday for Thursday’s events.
• For events that are scheduled from midday onwards (>12.00pm), declaration must be
completed at TIC two (2) hours prior to the scheduled start time of the first heat/round of
the event.
4.3.2 Athletes in out of stadia events (10km road race, Road Walks, Cross
Country and Half Marathon) must complete their declaration at the TIC
by
5:00pm the day prior to the event. At this time athletes will be issued with a
tag/transponder.
4.4 Call Room
In addition to confirming their entries, all athletes competing in events starting within the
stadium are required to report in to the Call Room prior to their event. The Call Room for ALL
events will be located in the white tent above the 1500m start line.
In the Call Room athletes will be expected to demonstrate that their competition uniform, singlet
and numbers, shoes and other equipment comply with the competition rules.
Athletes will proceed to the start of their event from the Call Room ACCOMPANIED BY AN
OFFICIAL. Athletes who proceed to the event not accompanied by an official may not be allowed
to start.
The closing Call Entry Times at the CALL ROOM are (prior to scheduled event starting times):
• Pole Vault 70 minutes
• Discus, Javelin, Hammer, High Jump 50 minutes
• Long & Triple Jump, Shot Put 40 minutes
• Hurdles & Relays 30 minutes
• Other track events 25 minutes
This time allows for marshalling and movements to the competition site. The remainder of the
time may be used to complete the warm-up at the competition site where the competition site is
not in use (under the supervision of the officials).
If an athlete is already or likely to be competing in another event at the designated call time the
athlete or someone on his/her behalf must notify the Call Room of this prior to the designated
call time.
