I was on my "easy" week this week with 3 5mile runs and 1 4 miler so don't miss too much but don't know whether to start this week again or just miss it out and carry on with next weeks training? Any suggestions would be great, really gutted I'm having to interupt my training so early on

I have had to have nearly a week off my training due to having my wisdom teeth out under a general anesthetic. Had these big ideas that it wouldn't bother me and I'd be running the day after but definitely not going to happen, the anesthetic has made me real groggy, mouth is sore and can't eat so no energy to run....although it's all i can think about doing!!

first up, I wouldn't wait until next week. Give the mouth a few days then try and pick it up from where you left off. Given you are at 3 x 8k and a 6k'er and its an easy week, treat it as a few easy days and get back into the program. Just don't drop a whole week unless you really really need to.
Look for reasons to run, not for excuses not to run. I almost gave my long run a miss this morning. It was already 26C, dusty and humid, no-one to run with out here, a full day in the paddocks yesterday, and a sore knee. Regardless, the program said long run, so I convinced myself to at least start - anything is better in the diary than a big fat zero. End result, I surprised myself and banged out a solid one. Stuffed now, but the reason to run won over the excuses not to, and so I am now smug rather than depressed

Pick up where you left off. A running plan should be followed. IMHO, I would sit back tonight with a few beers, relax, then hit the road tomorrow. Dont worry about what you have missed as this is just wasted energy. Now focus on whats ahead. Oh yeah, make sure the beer is not low carb, that's just WRONG!!

I've just gone through the same thing...I'm training for my first full marathon...started last week being as sick as a dog...headed then to the gold coast on hols and left my gear back in melbourne.....so it was a non starter...came back, got better and ran 28 km on Friday...
So my advice, pick yourself up and start from where you left off.
good luck!

Thanks all -great advice. I had every plan to run today but woke up worse than ever. The GA has run me down and let a flu bug creep in, haven't felt this rough in a long time and not one to give in easily believe me....and i know it must be bad because I can't even face that beer
Got the hubby making me some soup - fingers crossed for tomorrow!
