Thought I would start a separate thread for keeping track of days/times for training around the North Shore........

I will be out running from Wyatt Ave to Acron Oval (part of the Strider's Equaliser course) on Sunday....aiming for a 7am start.

Buzzer - suggest you join us and then make that assumption, I don't believe any run with Sub50 (a definite BB favourite) will be that soft.

After your little jaunt you've got coming up - you'll need some leg speed, so we'll see you up there soon.

Hi All,

As mentioned was thinking of running from my place in Frenchs Forest out to Oxford falls, along fire trails to Deep Creek (on Narrabeen lake). From there a bit of a unknown but head back into the bush. Have been told there are trails that link up out there and come back out towards Oxford falls/ Forest Way.

It is about 10km to Deep Creek from my place so guessing 20km+ for the day. No water out there so suggest a camel or equivalent.

There are some hills, but nothing too serious on the bit of the trail I know.

PM me for a starting address. Start at 6:15am, should be back by 9am at latest.

See you at your place sub50.

Tiger - never run at Oxford falls even though very close to my place. Looking at around 2 hours or so.

Easy Tiger, just had a look at the trace from one of my runs down this way......there is less than 300m change cumulative to Narrabeen lake.....imagine would be similar on the rest of the run. I have attached the trace, I went on to Mona vale on this run, so just take the first 10km or so into account.

Hi Andy,

We won't be setting the world on fire, last week we ran for 27km at 6min/km. Don't expect we will be too much faster than that.......there might also be a trail back up into Terry Hills, not sure.

More the merrier so don't be shy come along if you are free.

Starters at the moment:
Tropic
Hamburglar
Sub50

Slug holding off for next weeks adventure....something about a hangover  :D

Would like to join up with you guys, but other duties tomorrow am, what about a Sat am run next week, I'm trying to double up on the weekends with longer runs both days?

I did the one you are referring to Dave. It's a nice 30km hit out (mostly trail with a few joining roads through Oxford Falls, Cromer and Narrabeen). I was familiar with most of it though there were a couple of hazy bits that I hadn't done previously. Happy to lead anyone game enough to give it a try. No guarantees we won't get a tad lost ... but hey ... extra training right?

Thanks for the offer - always good to find new runs locally but alas wife still has arm in plaster so I'm called on to do some chauffeurring in the morning so can't stray too far from home on an uncertain timescale. So I'll be running Perimeter Trail and Long Trail by myself in the morning for a nice gentle 22kms.

Next Sat and Sun look clear at the moment so hope to be free to join up with someone (not too quick :D ) either day.

Nice run this morning exploring a few new trails. I was going to race SMC half next weekend, but have decided not to. I am thinking a visit to Terry Hills is on the cards. Happy to do this Saturday morning if you are keen Dave. 6am.

Please see map of proposed run. Duck Hole, West head Rd, Centre Track, McCarrs Creek Rd, Perimeter to Track for a rep (or 2) of Smith's creek (rise of apx 160m). 21k. Two laps of Smith's creek would be 26k or thereabouts. See link for details.

May join you if I can get the legs moving a bit more.  Slow 15kms this morning.  I usually hit Duck Holes from behind the fire station off McCarrs Creek Road (Terry Hills Trail).  For the hills on Smiths Creek I usually just do the bottom 1.2kms if doing repeats as this is the steepest bit (120m climb) rather than running the whole trail twice (or more if just hills).  Looks like my house has fallen into the crater caused by your 7 mile marker!

Mind if I tag along and invite some of the usual Manly suspects or is that too much of a circus ? The more the merrier when it comes to doing good old Smith Track.

Thanks Hamburglar, very interested, like you was also contemplating a SMC hit out (PB tilt) but need to keep the eye on March 12th so Terrey Hills and some new trails is very tempting!!

Bring them along Dickyboy. Those boys keep the pace honest!

Let's lock in Saturday morning - 6am on the corner of Yulong and McCarrs Creek Rd.

I have a wedding on Friday but at the same time we are staying with my folks. So there would be plenty of support with the kids on the Saturday morning. Also will be in Mona Vale, just at the bottom of McCarrs Creek Rd.

What to do what to do.....I am a 50/50 at the moment, Less if Lou sees this post  :D

Dickyboy has provided some excellent websites with good maps of trails in the area...

Nobmob mountain biking website

Walking Coastal website

Lots of trails to explore. Who needs the blue mountains???

we had an alternate transport day for work, where if you arrived by public transport or ride/run you got a free breakfast.

So instead of running the usual way over Roseville Bridge I went via the Equaliser track and out to St Ives. While there I found lots of secret six foot training going on.....my knowledge of cool runners faces is not great....but there must have been some beer betters in there. All looking keen and fit.

Anyone want to own up?  :D

Sorry boys deja vu again, I'm out. I've been led a stray by work colleagues and mates. I blame my youth and the fact I don't have a wife to keep me locked up. This time of year is dangerous, and hopefully I can earn some level of respect soon.

Have a good run!

Slug, just come straight from the nightclub, you'll be right!

Anyone going via Darling Harbour on their way to Terry Hills this morning?

I have the Asics on... :D

Good run out this morning.  21.5kms and perfect conditions.  Thanks to the guys (Paul, Dave, Chris and Duncan) for waiting for me - hope I didn't slow you down too much.

Next time you're up here we can start from my place - refreshments on tap although not sure about the egg and bacon sarnies for Tropic, and maybe have to ban Hamburglar from using the loo! :D
