Sneaky Tom..... Covert mission up there.  You know you have been getting up there too often when you can work out the location of the photo without a caption.

Do you like all the new NPWS signs they have installed???  Very smick if you ask me.

Yep not bad, but I wasn't impressed that they took the water spout away at the railway. I guess you can still fill up but it might be messy.

Yeah we filled up 3 weeks ago and the spout wasnt there.  It definitely makes it more difficult and you think twice re water quality.  Having said that, we had no tummy issues to speak of.

Yep, Rod and I were fine when we filled up from there. Other option is to buy a Steripen - only $100 (AUD) from Ebay including postage from the US - gotta love this exchange rate right now.

Don't worry in this new age of "eco friendly commercial developments" National Sparks will be selling the rights to put a McDonalds up on top real soon.

Yeah gotta admit that there was a certain attraction with being in the know. Like turn left at the cairn to get to Mt Sol. Now, just follow the signs - I kept expecting to come across a Japanese touring party with telescopic lenses. Somethings just aren't sacred anymore.  :D

First the spout, now (as of yesterday) there is no even water in the creek. Maybe the creek got diverted on purpose during the heavy rain so it doesn't flood the tourist area at the railway? I filled in from another creek few hundred meters down the trail towards Leura Forest. The water was coming out of a cave and looked OK, but I treated it with some water purification tablets just in case (mmm, swimming pool water - tasty).

That is dissapointing. I have noticed the trend among local councils and other government organsations to deprive people of access to water, either by removing tap handles or now damming streams. I was under the impression that access to water was a persons right.

Though there was pleanty of water in Leura and Jamison Creeks further down the valley on Saturday, but the signs down there advise against drinking the water.

Funny that.  I was out there the Sunday before last (05/12) and got my water from the normal spot.  There was plenty of water coming down off the rock wall.  Granted the spout wasnt there, but that had not been there for a couple of months.  In future, will make sure I pack my brand new Steripen for just such a problem.

Will be up there Saturday night.  Might try and check it out if I can get some free time and go down Furber Steps.
