That discussion re tables sounds interesting I will have to check that out sometime soon...
Just looking at the source code in my template scared me a bit, looks a bit more complicated than the basic html I am used to using on my geocities site...couldn't find the links code last time I looked, have to try again...but hey copying someone elses code...I should have remembered that... speaking of shameless promotion; I finished my first ever ULTRA yesterday the inaugural 45km 6-INCH TRACK marathon....took me 6hrs 25 to get to the finish.....see my blogspot blog for details... Team I make sure your blogs are in order, as I intend doing an update sometime in the next 2-7 days...that means; Team I Doug Fry?'a Blog MrBark?'s Blog Redback?'s Blog pjdc's Blog monnychick?'s Blog The Mad Guz?'s Blog Puntermatt?'s Blog Ingrid?'s Blog |

I'd like to dob in my friend hippy, and his blog at http://thehippy.net. He's mostly a cyclist but he's been a long-time CR lurker and I noticed he's recently updated his profile. Living in London he's finding it hard to cycle so he's gone back to running.

I'm sorry to say I've been rather neglectful with the CRB thread of late. Have been very busy... pretty much since the SFTSV.
Thanks 2P and Don Juan for your very clever team updates. Plu! That incredible effort reminds me of the old days when all bloggers were updated together. Welcome to the new bloggers. I'm enjoying Mike's who doesn't take so long to get there. (e) |

Welcome to all the new bloggers - and apologies in advance to some of the regulars. I'll be a little off-line for the next week or so, and may not get to check up on everyone as often as I'd like to.
A huge thanks to everyone that's stopped by at one time or another during 2005 - it's been a fantastic year, and the support and comments I've received from so many of you has just been wonderful (and hugely motivating). I appreciated each and every single thought, and just wished I could have responded more often to you all. Wishing a safe and happy Christmas break to all my fellow bloggers. Can't wait to catch up with you all in the new year :) |

In case any of the regulars notice and do not use bloglines, I have deleted my blog from the Blog guide on the Aust Running Guide web site, whilst my blog is still alive and well it is now only available for those who find it or already know where it is.
I will no longer be advertising in my signature etc, if you are unsure why, I have added some comments here another thread , nothing bad, just had enough! |

Blog Update Team F
Robert Song I have to confess a soft spot for anyone brave enough to run a race in the Queensland heat, especially one like Kurrawa that takes place about as deep into our summer as you can get. RS had a really tough time with this one but stuck it through to the end, and was rewarded the next day with a huge five week holiday to run whenever and wherever he wants. So far he’s spent a couple of days camping (and running), lots of listening to music (while running) and set himself some really serious goals (about running). At last count the most immediate goal was to run 300k between 20/12/05 and 14/1/06, and he sure hasn’t let any thoughts of holidays interfere with his discipline so far. Who else but a runner would set the alarm for 4.30 while on holidays so that they can beat the heat? Although…..there was a teensy lapse to spend valuable time with the kids on Christmas morning. You’re forgiven for that one, RobertsonG. World Ultra News Ouch! This one is a bit hard to update, seeing as it’s basically a blog update in a blog anyway. Hmmm…...Let’s see.... Ok – apparently there are lots and lots of really long races available for people to do, and as the rest is basically media releases, it’s probably best to read it yourself. Courtly Love It sounds like Courtly has been through a very rough time and hasn’t been blogging recently. Hang in there Courtly, all our thoughts are with you. Travy Hmmm….another one short on running updates, but all is forgiven because it has some really cute Christmas photos. Rundave Dave has been working awfully hard on a brief trip to the Canberra Uni but managed to get a few runs in while he was there. He is also, like many of us, finding it hard to accept the terrible racial discrimination that is happening in our country, but hopefully managing to come to terms with it by sharing his opinions via his blog. On a happier note, Dave has clocked up more than 2000 km running for this year (which he’s really happy with) and has blogged some wonderful goals for 2006. These include some running goals (both distance and speed) and some personal goals which include finishing his PhD and, more importantly, staying healthy. Bring on 2006, Rundave! Virtual Runner And this one’s been shut down………………… Well, there’s my first blog update guys, and I’m not even sure I did the right team ;) |

I notice on the roster that the ever shrinking Team J is due an update today - but as I'm packing to go on hols this will need to be brief.
Steve - Steve got his PB 2.56 something -wooooohoooo!!! He is currently taking a sabbatical from running to move into his new broom closet. Lady Jove - The lady is taking a break but has promised to come back stronger than ever in 2006 and I reckon she will too! Myrtle - IS BACK YEEEEEEEHA!!!!!!!! Read her blog! She has lots of shiny new PB's to drool over including a 96 mins at the CC Half! She also has obviously been a very good girl because Santa has got her back on the net for Christmas. Tesso - does more miles than Mrs Murphy, constantly complains she is slow to show she still has a sense of humour and continues with her penchant for moose hats and balloons - picked up 2nd in the mixed teams event at Kurrwara. Well done Tesso - you are a legend mate. Kit came back - the very next day the old kit came back - from her secret training in the land of the rising sun that is and wow she has been training the house down ever since - her continued improvement is a source of inspiration to any who follow her blog. Twopennys - 2P continues to let the the Team J side down, his constant whinging, complaining and atrocious training record are a disgrace. He has however distinguished himself with his 1st place in the twin residence lawn mowing invitational - having shot his bolt he could only manage a distant 12th in the whipper snipper division - bloody typical! Happy New Year everyone ;-) Cheers, 2P |

sorry this update is rather lateish...(If it was a Uni assignment due 21st Dec I would have lost 30% by now)Short on time so I will try to be succinct despite my ingrained verboseness;
But before the update though; some results from the bush south of Perth Western Australia; 45km inauguaral 6-inch track (ultra) Marathon 18th December; 1st Dave 4hrs 02minutes 53 secs 2nd Cota 4hrs 22 min 47 secs 3rd Warren 4 hrs 27min 4th Andrew C 4 hrs 45 min 5th Nathan 5 hrs 25min 6th Jon/TB777 6hrs 25minutes 27km DNF Suzy ...(about 3-4 hours of running?) See the WAMC messageboard @ http://wamc.proboards41.com/index.cgi?boar...27100618&page=7 ---->>>>Next 6-inch race is planned for 17th December 2006. Now for the TEAM I update as promised on the roster @ http://www.coolrunning.com.au/runningguide...ain.BlogRoster2 Friars anthology http://tuckerbox.blogspot.com/ This anthology has a 9 word subtitle!!! :-)Regular google maps user. Recent runs include the 19km Tour de Mountain, Black Mountain Challenge, Murranmbidgee River Trail Run, and Forest Stromlo run... So some serious hill running, and some trail running here. The mountain runs sound pretty cool! The Friar met up with CR Bloggers AKI and Flashduck at the Belconnen fun run... On Christmas day the Friar ran all the way to the spot where the bushfire memorial service will be held on January 18th. MrBark http://jbar7762.blogspot.com/ Does not seem to have been updated since July 2005. Redback http://timdeane.blogspot.com/ The redback recently went sub 50minutes for a 10km in training for the first time. Has got through some 22km runs a 13km, and is nurturing dreams of a sub 3hr 30 Marathon in Canberra on 9th April 2006...Keep at it Redback there is plenty of time, its all about not losing sight of the goals and targets, and trying to keep some momentum building....Here is a sample of the way Redback sets himself daily goals which I think is pretty good; Target: 8km recovery Distance: 22km Time: 1.58.29 Ave Pace: 5.23min/km Redback also did a 30km on 20th Nov. in the rain near the beach with a group of Striders, including another CR Blogger? in Silver Fox... So all the signs are there that Redback could be dangerous in Canberra 2006 if he can build a web of sufficient preparation... pjdc; http://road-running.blogspot.com/ This blogger is based in PORTUGAL...recent posts mention ID tags for runners,Milan Marathon in Italy being won in 2.09 by Helder Ornelas of Portugal... the race time calculator and PJDC ran the Portugal Half Marathon in 1hr 27, which is under the magic 90minutes, but he was looking for about 1hr 24 by the looks of things? monnychick http://www.monnychick.blogspot.com/ A well organised blog, seems to post in spurts...Ran her first Half Marathon in 2.08 back in October..Unsure whats been happening lately, please post some more Monnychick...Monnychick also plays some soccer... The Mad Guz http://themadguz.blogspot.com/ In elite! company here folks, The Mad Guz has PB's of 14.21 for 5k (but wants better!), 30.06 for 10k, 67.22 for the Half and 2.17!!! for Marathon which he did in Hong Kong in February this year...Had an altercation with a 4WD roadhog?! , ran a 1.55 in the Striders Star, and has recently done some good reps and a 15.10 5km. Is hopeful of going sub 15minutes for the 5km again soon.In November used rides to work for at least one week, when he had to reduce his running due to injury niggles...In December the Mad Guz ran the CC-Half in 74minutes, and is running over 100km most weeks, now there is some inspiration for us all from this star...A couple of interesting links on this blog also. Puntermatt http://puntermattrunningblog.blogspot.com/ Another classy runner with 38min 10k PB and a 3.12 Marathon PB, who is working with Pat Carrolls group with a goal of getting his Marathon time down to the low 2.40's zone... Regular poster with a casual easygoing style of written expression which makes it enjoyable to read...Seems to be putting his writing ? skills to use with the R4YL mag, could be a future Journo as well as a top runner...watch this space! You may have seen the R4YL ads in the top right hand corner of the CoolRunning site. Matt has done a lot of runs around the 10km mark at 5min per km lately, plus some 1K reps at 4.30 pace...Has recently got over a foot injury....All the best in 2006 with the Mag and the running... Ingrid http://ingridinasia.blogspot.com/ Ingrids adventures has some beautiful photos, and I like the colour scheme. The photo of a red sunrise on 4/11 is well worth a peek! She also got engaged 7 days before I did with a distinctly Nippon flavour? (Land of Rising Sun etc) Ingrid caught up with a few of the CR's at the CC Half where she did 1.37! Is "taking it easy" after that but still clocking well over 60km a week from what I can see.... |

Hi All,
Thanks for the update TB. I have created a Roster for 2006 up to Canberra Marathon. Blog Roster 3 It has started from Team A and we will work through again to Team L and adjust as more teams emerge. Could I request some volunteers. Also we have two updates for December to do and I guess we can forget the missed one in August. A few questions for you to consider. 1. Should we try and consolidate the teams as some are smaller than others by moving people up until there are 8 in each team...this seems to be the number? 2. If an update does not get done is it reasonable for someone from that team to volunteer or be volunteered to do that team? 3. How do you feel about the merit and value of the updates and how it has gone in 2005? 4. Other thoughts? Cheers Plu |

Plu, I'm not attached to my team so I think it would be good to move a few around to make all the teams even. I think it would be a good idea to go through the current bloggers and if the blog hasn't been active for a few months, delete them from the list. Those bloggers who decide to start blogging again can then add theirs back to the list. I think this just makes it easier administratively. What do others think?

I've just volunteered to do an update of Team B on 11 January.
Personally I have really enjoyed the weekly updates as, with the ever increasing number of CR blogs, it is becoming very difficult to keep up to date with them all. I really hope they continue :) |

I've filled in two of the blank spaces on BlogRoster 2... (w)
The New Team G Lulu An anniversary for Lulu – was that 4 year’s of running bliss? Although she can still feel the dickie knee a bit, Lulu will be trying a couple of runs in the first week of 2006. Go Lulu! CJ CJ’s resolution for 2006 is to run more, swim less, cycle less and eat less chocolate. She’s in week 3 of an 18 week marathon program. During her most recent long run, CJ didn’t carry enough water and consequently gave Garmin Girl the ‘hip and shoulder’ at 18k because GG was making rude comments about CJ’s wobbly running form. Silver Fox SF is gradually getting back into running after 3 weeks of his feet with a dickie heel. Wanting to run faster in 2006, SF is thinking about putting the brakes on the balls-out running with the hope of remaining injury free and possibly making it to the starting line of the Canberra Marathon. Speedygeoff SG’s running goals for 2006 seem rather modest (11:10 for 3000m and 19:00 for 5000m) compared to his PBs of 8:47.3 and 15:10.5 but SG has been struggling with niggling injuries including a dickie calf for much of 2005. He’s now back to running 80k per week and planning to ‘jog’ the Canberra Marathon in 4 hours. SG will also be making some changes to his blog – “The best is yet to come”. NottsLad Nothing blogged since December 9 when ‘Blackwater Rotation’ was still happening. Most of NL’s posts are from and about Blackwater! His last run was on November 30 – 7.06km at 5:55 per km pace. Run 2 Become R2B has been doing some races on the track. Very good! His most recent efforts include a 1 mile in 5:38 and 11:46 for 3000m which was a 20 second PB! Good stuff R2B! Allrounder AR has been running consistently well this year despite squeezing running in amongst her other sporting activities. She particularly likes the 5k as a racing distance and has been running some good interval sessions in training. AR has run 31 races of 5km in 2005 averaging 23:39 and with a fastest of 22:32! RobertSong ‘Robert’ ran a very interesting ‘Lactate HR Test’ recently at the UofQ track. The idea is to run five 2000m runs at set heart-rates ranging from 135/m to 175/m and compare the times taken for each run. This showed that Robert has made big improvements in fitness since July with HR 155 speeding up from 5:03/km to 4:35/km. Robert is proving his theory that you can get quicker by training ‘slow’. He only has two speeds for training – HR 135 for long and easy runs and HR 155 for ‘other runs’. |

And, the second... (e)
The New Team H Doug Fry Friar’s most recent run was on Christmas Day around the new ‘Bushfire Memorial Trail’ on Narrabundah Hill near Duffy. The memorial for the 2003 bushfires will be opened on January 18. Friar also ran in the 19km ‘Tour de Mountain’ in south Canberra which goes over Isaacs Ridge, Mt Wanniassa and Mt Taylor. I’m amazed Friar has time to run as he edits Canberra Runner magazine! Redback RB has a goal of running the Canberra Marathon in 3hrs 30mins and had been doing some good long STaR Sunday runs during November. Some of these were at marathon race pace which may have been overdoing it as RB has come down with a dickie foot/shin injury. His most recent run was a fastish 13km on 21 December. pjdc pjdc is yet another injured runner! He suffered a ‘contusion’ when doing fast repetitions on the track back in August. In November he made a ‘comeback’ running the 20 Quilómetros de Almeirim - Edição de 2005. That’s a 20k race somewhere in Portugal. Not a very good race report though – “1hr 27 – bahh!!!” monnychick MC was planning to take her running stuff to work and run 7k around the block before heading home so she wouldn’t miss out on her run. She must be enjoying her running as she hasn’t had time to write about it since November 9! Go MC! The Mad Guz MG was the receiving end of road rage when he was struck by the mirror of a 4WD while he was running in beautiful Lane Cove Park. The driver punched him for ‘damaging’ his tank’s mirror! I remember once when a cyclist and runner had a head-on collision in the park with the cyclist coming worse off into the bushes near Porter’s Creek. Training has been a bit inconsistent during December at only 115k or so per week but Guz ran a reasonable 5k time trial recently in 15:10. Puntermatt Matty has a goal of running a sub 2hr 45min marathon and is being coached by Pat Carroll up in sunny Brisbane. Matty had a dickie foot injury earlier in December but is now back running. He even ran 10k on Christmas Day (I thought only mad runners did that). His most recent session was 5x1km on the ‘tready’ – I guess this is necessary because air-con is needed in sunny Brissy to survive hard sessions. Ingrid Nothing much of importance happening for Ingrid recently. She displays very good running form in the photo by Truckie in the CC half marathon! In this race Ingrid jumped off the minerstrain and ran 97 minutes which was slightly disappointing. Oh, yes, Ingrid received a ‘Japanese’ marriage proposal on 26 November. RunDave RD spent some time visiting Canberra from his home in sunny Sth Aus in early December. Unfortunately he didn’t have time to train with the two best groups in Canberra (Speedygeoff’s and the Calwell group). RD has some ‘new’ goals for 2006 which include running a sub-3 hour marathon. His most recent race was the 8.4km ‘Two Jetties’ in which he placed 13th or 14th in 35:38 despite having to stop during the last 500 metres. RD is aiming to continue running ‘smarter’ in 2006 while increasing his mileage. |

Two good updates there WF.
I like the updates as it is a bit hard to read what everyone is up to. I am on bloglines but that gets a bit hard if I forget to look for a few days. Especially after weekends when we have races on. Keep the blog roster going please Plu. :) |

Great updates Wombatface, even though Team I looks like they have had 2 updates in the last couple of days. It is hard to follow when the teams have changed around. But once again, written in an easy way making it pleasant to read.
No worries Plu. It should make it easier to update if we have the same number in each team and a couple of bloggers have fallen by the wayside. Some hadn't updated for 6 months. Thanks Plu for updating the blog roster. I will attempt to update Team J when I do Team A next week. Then we will be back on track. You're right Flake, it is impossible to keep up with 80 blogs so the updates are really needed. |

Here are updates for Teams J and A.
Team J Tank Girl Tank Girl hasn't blogged since before Christmas. She must be enjoying the festivities. She is entitled to a break as the posts before her sabbatical were about an 111km bike ride, the Kurrawa to Point Danger 50km where she finished as 3rd Female and an 80km bike ride. She has posted some good photos from the Kurrawa to Point Danger run but a race report to let us know how you finished with the 3rd Female Trophy would have been a bonus. Congratulations on the run. Travis Travis is going through a very exciting time in his life. He is building a new house, he and his wife are expecting their first child as well as him starting a job in January that should see him travel the world in the next few years. Because of all this, he is trying not to be too hard on himself if he doesn't rack up huge kms. You're thinking the right way Travis. These things that are happening to you are a tad more important than running. Good luck with everything. Steve Steve has had a good year which has seen him rack up 2400km for 2005 which gives him an average of 200km per month. He has recently been hit with a headache. Maybe too much festivities at Christmas? This still hasn't stopped him getting out for some quality runs. His first of 2006 was a 12.5km effort in just under an hour at 4:45 per km pace. Just imagine what he might have done if he hadn't had the headache for the last couple of days? Absent Husband Absent Husband has begun a walking program and has already done a couple of big ones. His most recent being a 2 hour plus effort from home to work. Great effort AH. He is also a cyclist and his most recent race saw him cover 30km at 36km/hr in 50 minutes. He is gearing up nicely for his transition to running in 2006. See Scott Run Scott is upset he didn't get out for a run for 2 weeks. He is being extremely tough on himself as it has been Christmas and his busiest time at work. He eventually got out for a 6.5km run and felt like crap, which wasn't surprising considering no running in 2 weeks and lots of Christmas festivities. Don't worry Scott, now that Christmas festivities are over, we should see you doing some quality runs in 2006. Speedy Speedy's is another blog where there hasn't been too much running over the festive season. He has been having a good drink. He suggests that as the kids have Schoolies then we should have Oldies. I'm sure there would be plenty agreeing with you Speedy. It wasn't all drinking though and he did get out for 5km on Boxing Day. Spark Driver Spark Driver is a motivated runner who is building up for the 14.8km Run for the Kids on April 9th. He ran 6km to his friend's place with his dog Oscar to pick up his wife's car on New Years Day after they had been to a New Year's Party until 4 am. The next day he headed out for 11km as he builds up the distance of his runs to meet his goal in April. Going great guns Spark Driver. Don Juan Don Juan is building nicely towards his goal of running a strong 6 Foot Track in March. After enjoying some of the festivities at Cool Running drinks on the Friday night, still backed up for 2 laps of Quarry Rd on the Saturday morning in very warm conditions. And from somebody who was there, he was looking very strong. This didn't stop from getting back out there on Christmas Day for a 1hr 20min run in his new Asics 2100s. Looking good for a strong showing at 6 Foot DJ. Team A MPHaz MPHaz has retired the blog after running 2:56 in the Melbourne Marathon. But I can assure you he hasn't retired from running and is still in very good shape. Was spied running around the Bay on NYE with baby Isobel looking very good. Backed this up with running Beyond the Black Stump on New Years Day in 40 degree heat in 3:33. The man is on fire and looking good for the Revenge of the 6 Foot Track Marathon in 2006. Vat Man Another blogger who is having a break from blogging. Spoke to him at Aunty K's NYE party and he is still running with Sean Williams and expects to be out at SMC in 2 weeks time again testing himself against the young pups in the 5km. Plu Plu is still enjoying combining his running, cycling and swimming. His review of 2005 shows that he averaged 4 hours exercise a week. He came back well from the injury he suffered earlier in 2005 to finish the year strongly by completing the tough Port Macquarie Half Ironman. Great effort Plu. O Runner O Runner is another runner who is targetting the 6 Foot Track Marathon in March. He has been getting a lot of quality runs in to help prepare him for his quest. Did a very strong 21km at Quarry Rd as well as a 19:40 5km CR Challenge before doing a 15km STaR at Mona Vale and then the Beyond the Black Stump run in 3:53. This is certainly one highly motivated runner. Good luck with your quest O. Wombatface Wombatface is being very hard on himself. He set some quite ambitious goals for 2005 and didn't quite meet his targets. He finished the year well and enjoyed some runs with StuMac. Eagle The Eagle is flying and building towards a strong showing at Canberra in 2006. Has been running solidly and his debut 100 miler doesn't seem to have slowed him down too much. Just to prove his, he set out for a lazy 81km on his own, which he finished in 14 hours. It looks as though the Dark Side has well and truly got him. Mr G Mr G is another blogger who has had a break from blogging. He hasn't posted since heading off to crew for Virtual at C2K. Somehow I don't think he is taking a break from training because he has trained through Glandular Fever. There is a whisper about some sub 4:20 bus at 6 Foot Track in 2006. Clairie Clairie is another blogger who has had a blogging break. A sub 2 hour run at the Kurrawa to Point Danger Relay was something that really pleased as this had been a year long goal. She will be back in the new year with a new look blog as she begins her assault on Canberra 2006. |

Thanks Horrie. Two good updates there. Interesting to read that a number of bloggers have 'retired' or are 'resting'. Are they short of time because they're running more? Or, are they feeling the pressure of being under observation? (w)

I must admit I'm disappointed that we have shuffled the teams. I'd have preferred vacancies to be filled by new bloggers.
Some teams probably aren't as tight as others but our Team J (as it was) is a very tight group. We survivors are all still together but the "Team J" tag was our identity and now we are re-badged. I know a rose by any other name would smell as sweet but.... Having said that - I appreciate the work you do Plu keeping us all organised and will go with the flow. Cheers 2P PS Updates are great - I can see the blogger thread - but at the moment due to a cookie prob I can't read blogs - so keep em coming :) |

Sorry, I didn't realise how much Team J identified with their name. I have now swapped them with Team I so they can once again regale in being Team J. Wouldn't want you all thinking you were nomads and didn't belong. ;)
