Planning on running 20k there, then run the course prior to start and then run the 5k option for a total on 30k Last 5k will be interesting as I reckon I may need to be dragged around....

I'll bring Mini-Miss Craigus along and we'll make up a 2km option.
See you there - hope the rain holds off (it's dry in Penrith at the moment)

Well, not a fast or flashy run by most standards, but in my realm of slowness - smashed it tonight 31:02....course PB by 1:48 and only 1 sec off my 5km PB outright! (and I'm going to say that's stopping to pick up the 2 cones.....not complaining, happy to do it, just lining up my excuses!).
Great night for running - light drizzle all the way, great company - only a few of us, but it's quality not quantity and a great course. Great to catch up with everyone. AaronR finished the last 5km of a 30km run in fine style.
Lollies and solo afterwards - Great! Thanks to the Freezers for organising and well done to Mrs Freezer for a great run too!

We got back to the start with about 15 mins to spare prior to the start of the main event in around 31ish
Lined up and the shout from Freezer sent me off like startled rabbit..... looked at my watch at 1k and had cracked out a 4.30.... so I slowed down to about 4.50 and ran the course to finish in 23.45, which was quick enough to complete 30k. Good days running and felt good doing so. Had one of those comfy days which is heartening.
Thanks very much to freezer and mrs freezer for the drinks (I was a little parched!) and for putting on a nice run on a great course.
Great to see everyone there, Gadfly looked like she was running really well, blues was as well. BeesKnees ran a great 2nd 5k to bring the total to 10 and the rest of the guys and girls all looked to be having fun splashing about in the puddles.
Craigus did the 2k option and after a small fall, gathered it up to be dragged home by Craigette jnr (who had the fall) Good job!
Thanks again!
Won't be at the next one but will try and make the following one.

10 or 11 little wet ducks running out to the end of the path and back.
Impressed with the way AaronR finished off his 30km run.
Probably our first 30k winner.
I ate too many red frogs after the run and gained a kilo.
Thanks for a top run.

Managed 25:59 for 5k. I'll take that one second!
Decent turnout given the weather and some late withdrawals.
Thanks to Freezer for organizing, hosting, timing and socialising; hope the knee behaves and you're back on the road soon.
Congrats Mrs Freezer on the all-time 5k PB.
I won't name-check everyone; that's for the host to post, but well done all for running and chatting afterwards.
cheers, BB

A huge thanks to all those hardy souls who turned up in the inclement weather.
At one stage on Friday afternoon as I snuck looks at CR and Facebook in between meetings and spreadsheets I thought it might be only AaronR, Blues Buffett and Mrs Freezer running but in the end we got 10 runners altogether including Mini-Miss Craigus - well done Jessica.
For the record:
2.? km
Mini-Miss Craigus 12:45 (good work and smiling despite the fall - I think the snakes helped)
Craigus 12:45 (top effort to get there despite the wet and the traffic)
5km
Kentlyn Tiger 19:34 (a CR Twilight PB for KT - imagine how fast you could go without the beard)
HillsAth1 21:31 (he came straight from the airport, set off early, back for a quick chat and off to home - a man on a mission and great to see you there!)
AaronR 23:45 (after a 20k plus 5k warm up - I get tired just watching - you certainly deserved the solo to quench that man sized thirst)
Blues Buffett 25:59 (I appreciate the support from my fellow Herbie - especially after a week of a chest infection and a lunch time 8k run)
Mrs Freezer 30:07 (despite her reservations about the rain and hip the better half did an all time 5k PB. Shaved 4:21 off her course PB - not a bad improvement in 12 months - proud of you babe)
BeesKnees 30:44 (you get AaronR to run the 5k warm up with you and then get Greg Norman to run with you for the real deal - what is your secret?)
GregNorman 30:44 (great to see you there and socialising during and after the run in the true spirit of CR Twilight runs - fun)
Gadfly 31:02 (I can't believe you missed a PB by 1 second - I feel guilty but the way my knee was last night it was much appreciated that you grabbed the cones)
Despite the rain everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great to socialise with everyone afterwards.
Cheers
Freezer

AaronR was there he asked if I wanted to do an extra 5km I figured why not it was early so off we set I think we did about 31mins which considering I had to slow down for a comfort stop was pretty good.
Considered going home after but chat got in the way and somehow we were off, Greg Norman was running alongside me I told him to go ahead as I know I am not in his speedy zone but like a true gentleman he stayed with me even when I had a walk break. We chatted all the way along and debated the logistics of getting to Canberra marathon hmm now seriously considering it.
Finished the 10km in just over 62 mins which I know by myself I wouldn't do so thanks to 2 gentlemen AaronR and Greg Norman. Despite my for me, a quick time my legs today feel good.
Thanks to the Freezer family for hosting and despite the rain conditions were better than last years heat and humidity.

As mentioned, Jess had a bit of a fall about 500m into the run. But she can blame her navigationally challenged Dad for it. Because of the late arrival, we missed the pre-race briefing. We started to head down the wrong path, when I said hang on a sec, I think we go that way. Jess hit the brakes, but locked them up on one of the painted men on the path, and tumbled over. A few tears shed, then dusted herself and said she was OK and off we went again. She's a tough kid - and I think many red snakes made up for it. (Moral of the story, don't rely on me for directions or bike maintenance
Catch up with you all soon.

#13 Friday, 10/02/2012 at 7pm - Shelley Beach, Manly (car park off Bower St).
The course: run from Shelley Beach, following the water's edge right up to Queenscliff Surf Club, run around surf club and back again.
Exactly 2.5k each way, so 5k laps.
There are toilets, showers, BBQ facilities and the opportunity for an ocean dip afterwards!.

Last year saw a record group. Let's hope we get the same support for this fast and scenic course!

The beachfront at Manly is pretty busy as they set up for the australianopenofsurfing.com. There are lots of grandstands etc. We can still run to Queenscliff and back however will need to be on the western bike track at times. Toward queenscliff, the eastern path opens back up again so we can do a full loop around Queenscliff surf as per usual.
See ya there.

The wind was a bit of a drag.
It was quite humid and warm runniing, then cool in the breeze at the finish.
A few beers, a sausage sizzle, and a few laughs rounded off a great night.
Thanks to Hamburglar for hosting again.

Best part of the night Seris - loved it!
Had a lovely run with my partner in crime for Stromlo - Go Go Gadjette were out in fine form, keeping the stragglers away....oops, we were the stragglers! To those who were a little concerned about our lack of planning so far for a race in 7 days time.....we'll have it sorted, no problem! Think I even managed a course pb, so happy about that, especially on the back of a tough session this morning.
Great to catch up with some familiar faces and some new ones who came along (a long way too..) for the run.
Thank you to The Hamburglers for hosting, especially post run festivities - I think Seris has missed her calling..teaching Australian/English to towering Italian students who only want to know about beer!

#14 Friday, 17/02/2012 at 7pm - M7 shared pathway, Doonside (car park off Eastern Rd Opposite Blacktown International Sports Centre).
The course: run from the top of the hill down onto the shared pathway heading south, following the path, veer left under the m7 on ramp, up the hill over the Great Western Hwy down the other side. The 5k turn around is about 200m past the Great Western Hwy. If you are doing the 10k you will continue up over the M4 for another 2.5k's and turn around near the end of another bridge. All will be clearly marked. Follow the same route back and do the little climb to the start. Here you continue past where we start, turn right down Eastern Rd for a further 400m along the path. A fast downhill to finish.
Refreshments will be served at the finish
Host: The Runhards
Hope to see many out there.
cheers RH and MrsRH

- #15 Friday, 24/02/2011 at 6:30pm - Series wrap-up! "Yab Nur" Haberfield, Richard Murden Reserve (Hawthorne Parade, near Barton St intersection, at the traditional finish point for the Sydney 5km challenge - on the opposite side of canal from the dog park). 10km runners go out and back to 0km point of Bay Run (near Drummoyne Rowers Club, Drummoyne), 5km runners out and back to 2.5km point (Henley Marine Drive, near Princess St intersection, Rodd Point). This is an accurate course, with plenty of parking, a kiddies playground, toilets and electric BBQ in picnic area, so bring the family along. Hosts: Gadfamily

BUMP!
Looking forward to seeing some CR Twilight runners out there tomorrow night. A slight change to the course - 10km can either choose from the 5km out and back if you know the turn, or 2 laps of the 5km course. There will be water at the 2.5km turn point, and water/snakes/drinks at the start/finish. No BBQ planned, but the facilities are there for those who want to use them. At this stage, not sure we have a key to the toilet block, so dusk is the 'last chance' call for toilet stops.
Thanks to JD for offering to help out also.
Who will run the fastest 5km? Will it be the fastest of the season???
See you there...

If you are planning on parking on the dog park side of the canal and walking over the bridge to the start point............the bridge to the dog park is closed until the end of March. This won't effect most people I don't think, but just in case.
Look forward to seeing the AaronR's and Mrs Runhard (and runhard??)

Bit of a mixed bag tonight, and a small number for on the bay, but great to see everyone. Lovely to see Sook, after not expecting to, although not under the circumstances that evolved that mean she was able to attend. Hope the run and company helped.
Please excuse any incorrect times or things I may have left out.....
10k:
Mark 50:38 (10 and a bit km, and ended up being the only 10km runner.....well done!)
5km:
aDrain 22:12 ( saving himself for a 5km challenge in the morning! )
Antonia 29:12 (last minute change of plan from the 10km )
Negsplit " Not Happy Jan" is the polite expression for personal satisfaction with the time, can't print the 'true' expression. Great to see you out running again though after a long lay off with injury.
SkyChariot 22:22 (and a long way from home too - glad you came all the way to run, great to have you there)
Greg Norman 30:53 (social PB! there to enjoy the company and the run)
3km:
Sook 54 18:12 (time adjusted for waiting for sails! )
KatieR 29:20 - ( lovely to see you back at the place where it all started...)
1km:
Rags - pulled up with twinge and niggle.....came back for a chat earlier than the others! Hope it settles soon.
Mystery distance:
AaronR & Mrs AaronR: set off for a gentle run, but returned, via playground, MrsAaronR with stitch - hope it settles soon, and no, you don't have to run as far as your crazy but gorgeous husband!
Play ground:
Jnr AaronR and Mrs runhard: set off for the play area when the AaronR's went for a run. A good time had by all?
26km:
AaronR and Jenny G (Mrs runhard) accomplished a very impressive 26K on the way to the run.....and promptly took advantage of the soft grass and there they stayed until Mrs AaronR and Jnr AaronR arrived for a run.
Helpers:
JD - thanks for coming down and for taking some photos - also saving himself for a 5km challenge in the morning....run well.
Gadfairy and Mr Gadfly ( I do like Gadfather though aDrain). - thanks for the water station at the 2.5km turn...a difficult task to pick the CR Twilight runner amongst the busy bay traffic.
Hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
Until next Twilight.............

The series will be back later in 2012.
I hope we can get even more people to turn up to the runs; I know many CR posters have shown interest in this series and it will be great if a larger percentage can make some of the terrific locations we have planned!
Keep fit, healthy and sociable! See you back here later in the year!
