I am in the market for my first pair of track shoes - not sure what to get, but I am going to race 3,000, 5,000 and 3,000 steeplechase - I normally wear a brooks trance or vapor for road racing as I am a mild to moderate pronator and have a medium arch - any suggestions? Would like to keep with Brooks but am keen to hear about other track shoes that would be suitable also!!!

Yes I am thinking of spikes, I know Brooks makes a Z1 which has spikes and rubbers on the front half of the shoe so apparently is a good steeple shoe? I would be touching the top of the Steeple with my shoe.

i am also a brooks wearer for the same reasons but i have never used brooks spikes (mainly cause our local stockists have terrible range) but have started to move to asics hyper LD spikes as these are a good spike for steeple chase.
they are similar with the spikes and a few rubber spikes at the front of the shoe.

Beast, how did you get on with these spikes?

I'm looking for a spike suitable for 1500m-5km. I have little idea what i'm looking for. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had only ever had one pair (ASICS) which after a year I felt were too restricting and stiff - I went out looking for something as close as possible to barefoot running and after 3 shops I ended up with Brooks Z1s - they are perfect.

Low, soft sole, wide (even wider with the insole out) - I feel great in them
