in the race category - ultra race, I tink, perhaps we can split it into under 100km and over 100km categories
and also have NO RACE race category - meaning those not really recognized as official races for various reasons - C2K being one example,

as a note - as I was giving my nomination to Emma (and it was blank bellow) it come with the message - not voting do not nominate already nominated person. which means, that in the same second somebody else beat me to it.
The girl is hot!

How about favorite RD or race series?  There's a couple of blokes around here who would get a nomination and a load of votes, if not the gong.  It'd be a way some Queensland favorites could overcome the overwhelming NSW influence in the polls.

What are you saying? This is an Australian site!

You may need to do some branch stacking :o

As they say in the Classics vote early vote often. No we can't do that Kevin said once you vote that is it <_<

I wonder about for example our multiple personalties CoolRunners like a former multiple six foot track winner and Sydney Marathon Champion.

Can they vote under all their different names?

Excessive posting shouldn't be encouraged. There are plenty of potentially interesting threads that become complely unreadable once the usual suspects start their verbal diarrhea. I'm starting to see the merit in censorship these days.

Come on Fats say what you mean and to whom.

Interesting to one not to another. All that is what it means to me.

Newspapers have interesting and non interesting articles.

It does not cater for a select few.

People who post and read are sometimes different and sometimes the same.

Subject matter that I have thought was of limited interest have had some of the highest reads.

I have read the tragic baby incident but have not posted.

Other matters posted and read.

If you just go by name and don't look at their posts that is your choice. Your possible loss.

This is a slice of what goes on in real life.

It's quite obvious really. Just because somebody has racked up a lot of posts doesn't mean they've contributed to the board for the better. I said it somewhere else but I think it's been deleted that a lot of threads have died and not had interesting stuff posted on them because of Rudolf's postings. I'm one who still reads his posts and like some of them.

Typical scenario. Somebody asks for advice on medical or other topic. A couple of amateur wannabe doctors (like myself) offer possible explanations, but we are all hanging out to hear from the professionals. Then Rudolf posts and the professionals think I'm not getting involved in that and don't post. So everybody misses out. Sorry Rudolf, but quite often you are a thread killer. Some may see this as a problem with the professionals but in the end we all miss out.

Now I'll probably have this post deleted as it's off topic and attacking someone personally. I can understand that.

It was obvious who it was targeted to. Yes I also read his. I wish he would use word and spellcheck before posting.

People with uni degrees, all walks of life have had the posts deleted.

We can both talk about this and like magic it may disappear.

Bring back X Files.

The current hot topic is something I am staying clear of.

I don't read it as an attack more as constructive criticism. An "attack" is sticking the boot in for the joy of causing pain. Furthermore, a surprisingly small number of posts are edited or deleted. Posts that can't be found are likely in the system "somewhere" - assuming they have been deleted is a big call. really.

Hah, you're right. I was looking in the wrong thread. I didn't realise there was 2 threads about Rudie's 2000th post. I was looking here when I should have been looking here. I do apologise for my suggestion that it was deleted.

Back to original topic. I do like Thomo's idea of favourite running track.

If FPT and Rudolf were in my workplace, mediation would be arranged and everyone would walk away smiling after much hugging.

Then they would spend the next 20 years attempting to professionally assassinate each other from a distance, whilst leaving no DNA or prints on the smoking gun.

It's interesting to watch. :o

Cheers, Dog. :)

under 100km and over 100km categories
No, CoolRunning is a general running site and I don't want ultras to over-dominate more than they already do.

most ignored/blocked CR.
Can't count these.

What about "The best avatar"?
I like this one - it has merit

Best Overseas Athlete (male and female)
The suggestion is ok, overseas females aren't treated any worse than males as is. It comes down to how many questions we want to have.

Most viewed CoolRunning thread of the year.
We could do this now. better than the one with how many posts. I will investigate how easy this is (for this year easy as they ALL started on zero and a quick look on the homepage suffices. But next year will be harder.

Most posts by CoolRunner for the year.
Refer fats post about - encourages quantity not quality ....

CoolRunning's favourite training run. I.E The Tan, Centenial Park, etc
Not bad.

How about favorite RD or race series?
Favourite RD assumes more than one race per year (else hard to say if its the RD you like OR their event). There are probably not enough series to really make it worthwhile ?

Some with merit. Will think about about adding one of them. Any preference ?

That's why there are a couple of Queenslanders in with a chance.  Except for the Striders'  8k series, I suppose - is that the only series organised by you Mexicans?  There are several good race series up here.

I am sure Action will not be impressed. It should of read 8.008Kseries only kidding it is 10k series.

Kevin why an arbitrary one addition.

Just because you are King of the Castle you don't have to be a dirty rascal!

Thomo - WE may add one, none or more than one - it's not really my site, however for the time being, for better or worse, I make the final decision. I'd like to think though that over the years I do the right thing for CR as a whole. Riase your voices now if you have an opinion pro, or con.

However, it is is a long poll now, adding 4 or 5 "random" items year on year will see it grow to epic proportions. If there is clear support for more than one, it will be considered. No there won't be a poll as its too easy to stack votes (unless we insist on a quorum vote).

But I suspect if we increase it by much we will degrade any quality - many people even now don't answer all questions. Stacking it with filler will see it tilt even more in that direction.

I don't mind the idea of the favourite training run KT.  Obviously the Qaurry Rds, the Tans, Storey Bridges etc will likely get up there over our poor country cousins' faves - but at least we can put one up for nomination!

..and the connection here is...??? :o

...but since we know the sky is not falling, we can now assume that you agree with Rudolf that the oxygen level in atmosphere has dropped to 19%, you agree with Greeny that there is research supporting genetic superiority of some races over others or perhaps that VO2 max is a good predictor of performance.. amongst many other such 'facts' I have disagreed with.

Glad you have offered an insight into your intellect. :)

Read my post again

edit: btw, I encourage those who disagree with my OPINION and my respect for them grow as independent thinkers-- as you would know from the many friends (including yourself) I have met through CR.

However I find it quite silly that someone could say he has never agreed with ANYTHING at all, when as indicated above, that has included immovable scientific facts.

It helps promote the various running option in the various locations. A map may also help for those want to find those courses.

Got my vote in nice and early :o

Dad taught me that. We used to go to voting booth in the next street (person's garage) as soon as polling booth opened.

I voted in all categories.

Surprised some of the suggested categories were not taken up. But, no I am going to postive in 2007. That's right still 2006. :)

Votes aren't in, I couldn't vote for every category as I haven't raced past 21.1km in 2006 and there are other categories that I shouldn't vote upon but it will not save???

Do we need a 'none of the above option'???
