I am a really big fan of the Target brand socks Coolmax Extreme, after reading about them on CR. Alas I can't find them any more - I've tried lots of Target stores but none of them stock them. Does anyone know where I can buy them, or have a suggestion for some good alternatives? I refuse to pay $35 for Thorlos when Target ones were just as good if not better - certainly lasted longer. Help, I'm getting desperate, down to my last new pair.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe they have been discontinued. I haven't seen them in Target for at least 6 months...

Yep, I've switched to some Nike socks that generally cost about $17/pair. If you get a good sale going at the factory you can get them for $4/pair. They are white and blue and purple and you need to buy them in a size bigger otherwise they don't protect your achilles from being scratched. Other than that they rock.

I havent been to Target for about a month and a bit, but I think they are still stocking them in Sydney (not that thats much help). My family all bought up big as Christmas pressies for me and I also got in and bought lots in the New year sales. Although each time we went in there was no Men's ones left as I wanted to buy some for my partner. Maybe they only have Women's ones left.

Lets hope they havent discontinued the line as they have seen how much we like them and bring them out re-branded and more expensive !!

I was in Target the other day and got some Coolmax socks - label did not say Coolmax Extreme though so not sure if they are exactly what you are after

Also noticed the local woolies had coolmax socks!

If anyone knows a brand that lasts a long time, it would be a plus. Forgetting my socks one time, I fortuitously found some unbranded ones in a $2 shop that were just as good as the coolmax for about $4, I think.

I picked up the last 3 pair of quarter crew (anklet) at lunch today from the Bourke Street Target store. There were lots of the full crew (non-anklet) still there. $6.99 apair

Target Ringwood has plenty. A lot of black and grey though.
