Get My 1500m Time Down To 4.20's In 6 Weeks ?

HELLO every1 i am new to this site ,
i am a very iger long distance wells 1500m and 3000m runner
and in 6 weeeks time i am racing in a school regional carnival and to get a 1st place ill have to run a 4.05 thats wat ma mate runs and 2nd place will be most definatly be running 4.20's soooo i need to get ma time from 5.18 to 4.20's in 6 weeks and wells ive done sumthing similar be4 i got my 3km time from 11.42 to 10.48 in 5 weeks that was by doing 2 training sessions a dai but this time im on a 2 week school holidays and im going to do 3 training sessions a day one 30minute run in the morning a weight session in arvo and hard 1500m runs at night and i hope i can handle this for 6 weeks SOO i need some help from this site 2 does any1 knoe any particalar things i can do to get ma time down be4 the 20/5/07 also im quiet new to running and its slang soo could some of use tell me wat RUNning GU + is and WAt are REpititions and some otha stuff THANK YOU SO sO SO much for ALL your help :) :) :)

First thing I would suggest is contact your local aths club, many coaches and loads of experience available. Three sessions a day is not the smartest concept, esp if you are coming from a near nothing background.

I would suggest that if you can run 3000m in 10:48 then you can run much faster than 5:18 in a 1500m race.

Get down to the local track and they will be able to help lots.

yeee ino i should bee but im not to great at uping my speed the 1500m speed is usualy wat i run in the 3km i dont change my speed grately in the 3km accept near to the end i get a bit tired thanks you for the help :)

I suggest you can go a lot faster. I am much older and without any real speed, my 3k time this season was 10:47 and my 1500 was 4:47.

Try some 400 reps (x6-:) at your 800 pace with a 40 sec recovery, not very technical, but it will get you working on your speed. Don't forget your long run and your recovery runs.

try going to blacktown athletics track and talking to coach joe ebjer, the local distance athletics coach.
he trains 5pm each weekday arvo but i think fridays are out?
thats a pretty hard goal to get ur time down to?
who is ur friend that runs 4.05 in sydney west?
i won region last year opens in 4.32 at region and got the second fastest time there? wat age group are you in?

umm for the athletics carnival i will be u/15's and my mate is valentine he ran a 4.13 at state but through training by then he said he'll be down to 4.05

ah yep thought so.

in that case you should be able to come second to him unless dean wateford is in ur region then u will have to do about 4.30 :)

and that kid i raced against in the 3km and beat him and he said he goes hard out in the first 1500m and soo i rekon i couldve maybe beat him in the 1500m soo maybe i could pull a 4.30 on tarten at the moment ill just have to c at the school carnival.

hello guys the athletics carnival's date was given out today is 31st may and ive started some repititions training last week every day i was told about some of the exercises by dr.JH and 2 days ago i did 4.55 in the 1500metres then yesterday i got 5.10 although i was feeling pritty down because my uncle just past away. And today i had my cross country i dont knoe the distance the teacher doesnt knoe was pritty easy i had a bit of competition at the start but then i relised he was sprinting and in the end he was walking and i lapped him 2 times out of the 5 laps i also lapped 2nd place im happy with the run done in 10.37 .

heyllo guys i had district cross country today i came 3rd and almost beeat 2nd though he cheated NOT FUNNY wells it kinda is though was a fun day i ran in my new nike free 5.0 runners
so now i go to sydney west cross country the 3rd level last year i got 8th at district and made it to syd. west although i got 32nd there so i will let you all knoe what i get there this year cya all . :p

haha didnt go well boys i was at like 5:20 when season started but then got my act together im at like 4:30 atm i rekon with onli 10weeks of training undermy belt :)

And yet if you spent the next year training you wouldnt even get close to shaving off 50secs. the law of diminishing returns :D
