California bars adidas from selling kangaroo shoes
Any thoughts ?

All I know is that Loco shoes are vegan from the top down, even including the glues!

Did Superman also wear them?

Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. ;)

BTW In the paper today Pink, the singer said she was given a bottle opener which had a kangaroo scrotum as part of its make up. She said she left it behind.

I think it's a ridiculous decision to protect a non-endangered species we're trying to control - which just happens to produce superior leather.

Sounds to me like a kangaroo court.

(Man that's bad.)

I agree. The decision not to allow this to occur has perhaps been made by people in countries where they are ingorant to the plight of farmers et al who are affected by the damage these animals do. Either that or they are concerned about the public outcry fuelled by organisations such as PETA.

I think the use of this leather is a useful way to utilise a plentiful (Australian) resource.

If I did actually buy a pair and then discovered they gave me blisters, I would be hopping mad. (Now that's bad!!!).

BCFC - You don't need gloves for the City to Surf. Just ensure you have a good training roo-teen. (Maybe that's worse) ;)

Never forget the capacity of North Americans to tell the rest of the world where they are wrong.
Never underestimate their ignorance of anything outside their own country (and they have very few clues about that)

eg., I am continually having to explain that roos are not an endangered species - they keep telling me that they have been slaughtered to near extinction and that we are still killing them - - will just not believe that they are thriving.

bye the bye - roo skin shoes were the prize possession of any runner in the late 50s early 60s when there were no Adidas in Oz and we all sought hand made to measure shoes. Fit beautifully but had no cushioning and very little support .

Many running shoes these days have no leather at all. This is good.

I reckon the day we stop viewing living beings as resources or products the better.

Personally I do not see the difference between using a kangaroo or a cow or a dog or a sweet little kitten. Aww come here Mr Moggy we need you for shoes.

It seems there whole point was that kangaroos are an endangered species, which they are not. On a different point we should be farming kangaroos, they do much less damage to the environment then the hard hoofed animals we currently farm. Kangaroos would also be in their natural habitat. Not that I support the killing of animals, but if we are going to we should at least choose species that have minimal impact on the environment.

How ironic. The yanks ban skippy skin shoes, yet they go out on the weekend and happily shoot bambi, yogi and snagglepuss. ;)

we should be farming kangaroos,

they taste quite nice too, especially with a herb and garlic marinade.

Feral cats would come in handy for the bigger footed of the human population.

But you couldn't do that, you can't harm God's creatures.

There we have a dilemma. When is it alright to harm one of life's creatures or is it never the case?

Careful trick question for some.
