Can anyone help with info on sprint spikes? We've also bought spikes that have removable spikes just so that we can put in sharp ones prior to big meets etc.

This year the only spikes my boy seems to like that fit are made up of removable and fixed spikes?

I've always avoided fixed ones, am I misguided?

Does anyone have any thoughts or info? What are the pros and cons?

Pls help us?! :)

I would not recommend putting kids in sprint spikes until about 14 yrs old. As kids are growing they often have sore heels, tight calves and this can put a lot of pressure on their achilles. Sprint spikes have no heels whatsoever and put a lot of unnessassary stress on heels. When you do decide to purchase spikes for him (and I would recommend about 11 or 12 years old), I would buy middle distance spikes, they do at least have a bit of protection for the heels and achilles.
I coach a lot of kids and don't put them in sprint spikes until about 14 yrs old..
I can also say that if you are going to get spikes, make sure you get the ones that can be removed and replaced. They wear down very quickly, especially in kids walking on concrete and bitumen.
