Don't use the search box on the home page. It's next to useless. It's the one on the left in the screen capture below.

Use the seach box on the left side of actual message threads. It works well (Google search). It's the one on the right.

I usually just go to Google and preface my search terms with "site:www.coolrunning.com.au"

I agree; haven't found anything useful when using this particular search box. What's it for?

Every time I have used it , I have found it doing the job I want.  Most of the time I use it to look up an old post that I remembered from years ago.

I've only had luck in finding a thread - not the post in particular where the search term is mentioned.  I remember one search provided the garmin thread as the result - but who knows where in the 46 pages to look!

Been using the search link at the top of the page.  And also, everyone's friend Google!

Wombatface - you do a great job in ferreting out the itsy-bitsy things that need fixing. The search on the wiki pages ONLY searches those pages (not the older static content nor the forums). The forum search only searches the forum (but does a good job) the search on the static pages uses google which is pretty decent. I will fix up the wiki search and maybe update our original search page at http://www.coolrunni...au/search.shtml

Bottom line : its an issue as the website is made from different software components.

OK, the dud search is removed - go to the search page for the best in search options:

No you haven't Kev. The dud search box is still there on the home page (along with a small link 'Search' under site info to the good search box). You've removed the good search box from the message threads.

It would be an improvement to have only the good search box (the google one) on the home page as it's intuitive for people to look for (and use) a search box on the home page of web sites.  It's also faster (one click). We don't need the Wiki search box - this feature of Wiki is useless.
