I hope this hasn't been posted before (I couldn't find any threads) so here goes.

I just came across a couple of 'albums' by Craig Mottram on iTunes. One is called Improve your speed and the other Improve your endurance. They are on the Nike site, which links you through to iTunes.

Apparently, you run along listening to a variety of well chosen artists and Craig's voice interjects every so often with instructions on what you should be doing.

Being a lover of the gimmick, I was wondering if any fellow gimmick-lovers had tried these and what they thought.

I bought the endurance one. Not because I am anywhere near the level of using it, but mainly cause the music is good and it is mixed together quite nicely on the long track. I think it was about $17, you get all the individual tracks plus one track with them all mixed together, lasts about 40mins, the endurance one is an interval program, and Craig comes on and tells you when to speed up etc, I have used it mainly as a Walk/Jog interval, he is also fairly motivating at times in it as well.

Not a bad download.

I bought them both and have enjoyed using them. The music is great and I use those songs on my ipod to run with even when not using Craig's voice. Craig's voic is encouraging and not annoying at all. The sessions incorporate intervals of 2 or 3 minutes and a recovery jog in between and both go for about 40 minutes. But the intervals are structured differently on each one so it's worth having both.

I too am a gizmo collector i.e. I LOVE MY NIKE IPOD!!

Craig's endurance download has great music & gives some variety to training for runs - at least you know that you get a rest if you just keep going & he is a good motivator. - He voice overs just when you think "i can't sprint any longer"

Plus got to support the Aussies or Nike might not give others a go...

I listened to Craig Mottram's "Improve your endurance" coaching session on my MP3 player while I ran today. The session lasts 40 minutes and consists of 4 x 3min intervals, which Craig tells you when to start and end. It much easier than looking at your watch or listening for a beep. I found it highly motivating.

My only query was at what pace I should run the recovery at.

Nike need to be congratulated on using an Australian athlete as part of their i-tunes stable of coaches. ;)

as cheesy at it sounds, it was the Craig Mottram itunes workouts that got me into running. Long story - but I was mucking around on itunes one day, trying to workout my new-fangled ipod I'd been given for Christmas and stumbled across the CM running workouts. I decided to spend the $ and "bob's-your-uncle": for the 1st time in my adult life, I got an endorphin rush from running - an activity I had always struggled with, depite being very fit and healthy.

As a point of interest, I no longer run with an ipod as I now find that it gets in the way of my ability to pay attention to breathing and footfall. But I have no ideological problem with running with MP3s.

I'm the opposite ie In the past, I never listened to music while running.
I've now started to ocassionally run with a MuVo MP3 player to break the tedium and, as is the case with Craig Mottram's workouts, too push myself.

I too am a fan of both the speed and endurace mix's, I got very excited when I read this thread thinking there was a new one. It was the first thing I added to my ipod over 12 months ago and have used to 40 min versions and the individual songs heaps. Would recommmend for anyone looking for new songs to run to. K

There are other mixes featuring American Nike coaches, such as, Alberto Zalazar and Serena Williams.
try searching "i-tunes + Nike"

Yep - use improve your endurance on a treadmill, can set pace & workload better, plus stops the treadmill from being boring.
Some of the songs I have added to my running playlist

Do you know if he does any other similar speedwork tracks for any other kind of speedwork session?

I have been using something similar for intervals but am looking for something where the intervals go on for longer and the entire session pushes 60mins or more.
