transitions is off the air again. reason above.
what does this mean?
... and to longer term, more regular users of the trannies site, has this one happened before? and if so, how long does it last?

and while i'm asking questions... who was 'bernie' the very rarely seen owner of the site? i note she has a lot of posts over there, but the vast majority of them must predate my experience with the site.

It means they have cheap web hosting which is capped and when the site see too much traffic the web hosting factory shuts them down until the end of the month. Just like your standard Optusnet internet account.

All I know about Bernie is that she used to be heavily involved with triathlons as both a competitor and on the NSW board at some stage. What I know now is that my physio is in engaged to her!

Sent Bernie an email.

Rohan, remember around late December 2007 it was down. Then it came up and you could only order Asian videos before it came good again.

This used to happen every few months. The fix was to go up to the more expensive hosting package but the trade off was the google ads to pay for it. Things have picked up of late with the epic Victorian threads. Being a short month, we did hit it pretty quick so am wondering if we dropped back to the old hosting package.

Thanks Plazbot,

It seemed like there were heaps more photos this month.

Lots of bling bike pictures.

Then heaps of Huski and the half down at Vic photos.

Coolrunning scales these photos down. But Trannies shows them in all their glory.

Its our software that scales them down. CoolRunning has a truckload of bandwidth. Its not a conscious decision to scale them down. After 6ft I plan to move to a shit hot photo gallery software that will show original size photos.

If trannies hosts in the usa you need to wait a few more hours...

Received a reply to my email.

Transitions should be up in a couple of hours.

I hope Tim, Blue Dog, Horrie & Spud can wait.

2008 is going to be the year more Coolrunners Ultra athletes go try triathlons.

Should set up a challenge in each state. Nominate a triathlon (not ironman, as this is a fun but can be treated seriously challenge).

Say a sprint or olympic distance triathlon.

Athlete nominates their Team alliance. Points awarded for best placed, best dressed, best bike (Rohan can't win that one :) ), etc.

If get responses can set up a new thread closer to the events being held from around October.

I think I once suggested to Bernie to host on the CR server - we have shedloads of bandwidth begging to be used.

How did you go Dave? I wanted to do that, but I was over ruled by Stacey and we did Run for the Kids instead? What was the weather like?

R4TK's was good, all ready for Port Mac next week.

Very cold start (warmer in the water than out of it), but a great day for racing, very friendly atmosphere, and a challenging course for anyone who is used to Beach rd races. A bit more info here on my blog. Will post more when Trannies is back up.
