I received an email today:

Quote

Is it possible to get a date for the poor mans comrades this year, I need to give work approx 2 months notice....

Its not on the Fat ass calendar, and could conceivably be on any weekend.

I love this race (and others) but I need to sort my shit out this year and not get too side-tracked so I don't want to be the person seen to be coordinating.

I am in for it.
Talked to a lot of people training for 6'  track who said they would give it  ago this year.
Hopefully get a female finisher this year.

I had the 14th in my diary.

it is up this year isn't it.

I think littleblackpug said she was going to run it and also runbare was talking about it.  So maybe this will be the year for fatass women finishes

No need to coordinate Kev, just call it on the 14th and run it.
You've sacrificed running this too many times supporting it, it's time to feed the rat!

Good on ya GoGirl.
6' Track, TNF100, Poormans by the end of the year we might get you to do C2K and give Bunny a run for her money.
It is starting to sound like 2008 is year of the female runner.

YES tim an up year.

Why is this event always before the real thing... sacrilege.

btw, there are neither 'ups' nor 'downs' on this route- both start/finish on coast.

Yeah thanks Spud, I'm working on it!

I like how the directions point out all of the food stops like: Cake shop, Kiosk, Shell Service Station etc... No doubt much needed and appreciated at that stage of the run.

Plu you have saved me at 2 PMC's so far with coke and company on the bike.  I remember the first time you told me up one of the hills that you could not keep your balance if I ran any slower so i had to keep my pace up

et tu Tim?

you weren't there that wet day in June last year.

And you will all be pleased to know that down here in Tassie I kept the track moistened before the running legs and provided the helmsmen with some refreshing rain to keep them alert between Cole's Bay and Hobart (whilst I stayed warm and dry below deck).

Good on ya Milov I was going to take the blame for the rain last year.
But it is starting to look like we both might be the problem with being rain magnets.

tim is was so so so so wet last year the road was washed away and still is.

the thing that worries me the most about this run is that it's all on road/footpaths. I find this really tough on the legs, last weekend I did 4 hours on the trails and pulled up fine, today I am away from home and my local trails so I did a 35km long run all on bike track and road, at just an easy pace, but my legs are trashed and my feet are so sore!

Bad news for me and Poormans Comrades it looks like I am out.
Work is organising a trip to San Francisco 8-13th June so if it happens I will not be back until the 15th June.

Not happy Jan, I really enjoyed this run last year and was look forward to try the other direction.

Bugger, bugger, bugger.

On another note some of the people who did WS last year have some friends in San Fran I ask because I would like a race to do instead of Poormans but can not find anything so a contact in the area might know of  a local race.
Spud/Dog anybody.

Hi Brick

I see that Jan had a Sunday start one year - so why not just do it on the 15th and get rid of some of that jet lag? It is fat ass after all.

The real date is the 14th Ray - is that more tempting??

anyway - I'm tempted
I have looked at the train timetables - if I did the slightly longer "starting from Central" 99k option at about 1.30 am I might just fit this in to get the 10.44pm train back from Gosford ( or from Hawkesbury River at 11.09 pm)

I never compete !!!!!! Ok I compete  but not competitively - OK occasionally I get further than some others - hmmmm. Actually I have entered races as a runner but have walked - as a runner can elect to walk - so perhaps runnin(g) is as accurate as competing.

I am contemplating attempting to perambulate part or all of it at the moment Osmo.

I just have to work out the logistics as I would prefer not to end up at Gosford at 2 am on a Sunday  :)

all the best and have a great run yourself ( even if you walk part of it).

David

No - not even in my wildest irrational moment would I give this a thought. Gold Coast marathon is my target marathon for the year.

I see that my ped route is about 91k - the one on the website slightly less accurate is 87k -

I also see that altitude wise there is a drop to about 70 metres below sea level and it is also only about 90k long

I love trying to work things out before hand

David,

That would be my rather dodgy GPS plot from a few years back using a 205. I went for a scuba dive in the Hawkesbury. :)

Hi CRs,
Seeing i don't see myself doing much after NF100, i would like to offer a drink stop near where i live, Lindfield. As it is only 16km into the run, I am not sure if the self sufficient runners would find it useful?

Happy to provide Sports drinks and water (maybe gummies)

My location would be Lindfield station with 2 water containers - I will too get to put a face to many of the CRs name. Its so hard to know whos who, even in races.

cheers
