Hi,
Does anyone run with:
Adrenaline™ GTS 8
Or
Adrenaline™ ASR 4

I lately bought a pair of Adrenaline™ ASR 4 and sadly after 1-3 runs, both of my achillis tendon became very painful. I thought this might be because of the shoes.
Has any one experienced this before?
I was told that the ASR are exactly the same as the GTS model but also meant for trail runs.
Running in my Nike shoes I have no issues while my old GTS (5) have been great.

Any suggestions?

Not good.

Have run with the Adrenaline GTS x for a couple of years, but have not ventured to the off-road version. Am about to buy some Cascadias so will post how I go re: injuries.

I've done a good deal of kms in both shoes with no dramas.

I noticed you mentioned that your previous shoes were actually GTS5. If memory serves I had a hard time of it when I first moved between the GTS5 and 6. Things settled down after a week or so. Maybe it's not so much the ASRs that are causing the issue, just the move up from GTS5.

I've not struck any issues moving from GTS6 to 7, nor from GTS7 to 8.

Thanks for the answer
I think I should have mentioned that I am pretty happy with my Nike Air EQUALON + and didn’t realize Air EQUALON + 2 is out.
The guys at the running science (Sydney www.runningscience.com.au) have been extremely helpful and even exchanged the Brooks for me for “Air Zoom Structure” which I am still not too happy about.
I am just upset that I haven’t found the right fit.
Will look for the Air EQUALON + 2 around Sydney and try them on.

I switched to the GTS8 from the Trance 6 because of rubbing on the achilles which meant I had 2 months off from bursitis - so frustrating, meant I couldn't run track this past summer. I have now been through 3 pairs of GTS 8 and have done 2,000km's this year with no issues (most of my km's are in the GTS8). I also use the ASR4 for some trails and am confident in these too, they seem great.

My suggestion would be, have a look at your feet, the shoe structure and then make your decision. I would have Brooks over Nike any day given my long narrow feet, narrow frame and high mileage but my mate who has a slightly bigger frame but equally as thin with the same mileage loves his Nike. My experience with the Trance 6 was that the heel that was set too far back in the shoe for my foot so kept rubbing on long runs but for others they are tip top.

Good luck.

I have had Adrenaline GTS 4, 5 and 7 over the past few years and loved them. I got the ASR 3 last year and got Achilles pain and numbness in both feet which must have been from them because as soon as I changed, it stopped. They are fine for bushwalking though, and I wore them constantly travelling around overseas and walking long distances and they were fine.

It did strike a note with me reading your question though, as I hated running in the ASR.

I've run happily in GTS 4, 5, 6 and 7s but my current pair of GTS 8s seem a bit narrower in the forefoot and not as comfortable. Has anyone else noticed this?

Just came back from a sports specialist and he concluded that it doesn’t seem that I have achillis tendentious but my Achillis Bursa was pressed by the heel of the Brooks shoe which caused the inflammation.

All though I ran with an old pair of Adrenalin and was recommended to continue to use Brooks Adrenalins the New GTS 8 pair cause me to stop running for two month and next week I am going for a Cortisone shoot,.
Hope that helps…I am sticking to my NIKE
