I'm a fan of the air zoom elites. I use them for shorter races (upto 14ks) as I don't have fantastic biomechanics. They are a lighter shoe than most training shoes so are more useful for racing. I could be wrong but I thought the adrenaline was a heavier type training shoe?

You don't need Nike shoes to use Nike+ - you can get a little velcro holder to attach to shoelaces (google "nike shoe hack" to find options).

Having said that, I love my Nike Vomeros they seem to really suit my weird feet.

I went to the 'Running Science' shop a few months ago, tried a few different pairs of 'suitable' shoes on and came away with the Elite 4+. Felt like skipping when I got them on!

And they've been great since, for roads and fire trails. They seemed lighter-weight than the others

You won't notice the Nike+ thingy if you don't use it. If you do use it, its good.

Don't know about the Adrenaline though, so can't compare.

I may be a little biased because every pair of running shoes I've ever owned have been Adrenalines and the one time I bought Nikes(for the gym) my feet hurt every time I wore them and I had to replace them after a couple of months.

That aside, as sook said, you don't need Nike shoes for the Nike+, so if you're happy with the Adrenalines, I wouldn't change just for that reason.

I have just been told by my podiatrist that he would never recommend Asics Gel Kayano 14's to anyone over 80Kg's in weight.
He has numerous examples of shoes that have broken down after a month for people over this weight leading to leg complaints and injuries.

I am disappointed as I wear Kayano's and I am 83kg's. I have had mild tibialis posteria of late and he showed me where the shoe has broken down. I was very suprised. I was loving them till recently. I've had them about 6 weeks and have done maybe 300km's in them. BOOOOOO!!!!!

That's interesting, and annoying at the same time. I'm running in Kayano 14's and was 82kg when i bought them in January. I'm now 76kg and have about 500km's on them but have started getting pain down the side of the shin.

Does that sound like what you had beery?

I'm on my 3rd pair and 2nd generation of Zoom Elites.
Everything up to and including 36km training runs.

Rohan wore his for the full 100km at TW

I'll be wearing my newest pair at the GC100, or my Vomero (haven't quite decided yet)

If they are the right shoe for you then I'm sure you will enjoy them, BUT if they are not right then they will be worthless very quickly.

interesting .. i too have the kayano 14s. nice shoe, but under 80kg and have had not probs injury-wise (touch wood).

But I do have a shoe dilemma

I'm running in the Asics Kayano 14s at the moment. Having only returned to running 12 months ago, I've only had 2 decent pairs of shoes - both Asics.
I bought the Kayanos earlier in the year and have about 650km behind me in them. A great shoe for me, but my biggest concern is the rubbing on the outside of the heel. I seem to wear out the Asics shoes here very quickly. Last pair did and the Kayanos have gone that way, too.

There's now a bald patch on the inside of both shoes (kayanos) and I'm thinking I might need a new shoe for GC marathon. No blisters or anything and there is no discomfort in this area. The tred, etc, all still good, but I'm worried about the inside causing a problem in the marathon.

I'm think of switching brands - Brooks Trance/Nike?? - but the range in Coffs is poor for a runner, only have athletes foot and Amart and mostly Asics n stock.

I like the look of the Brooks Trance, but can't try on a pair here. Has anyone else had this problem with buying shoes you cannot try on and how have you overcome it. I'm a size 11 in the kayanos, but how would this match up with other brands.

If I'm going to get new shoes, I need to quickly, otherwise I'll have to keep fingers crossed and hope the the Kayanos will hold up.....

hi bandak,

If you've been running in kayano's, moving to brooks trance might not be the right shoe for you. I was suggest trance by athletes foot (the magic footprint test) and as soon as i hit the hill down the road my back seized up like nobody's business. And i mean bad! I could not even walk and had to sit down for a while. I'm in kayano's now and am very comfy.

Obviously i don't suggest that everyone who suits kayano's is going to seize up in trance's (probably just me cause i'm an injury prone biomechanically inefficient freak :( ) but if you're switching to brooks the addrenaline or axiom's might be more the go.

When i got the Trance from atheletes foot, they signed me up to their Fit Club or whatever it was called (no cost) and this gave me a month to try the shoe and if its not right (which it wasn't) you can exchange it for another and another and so on until you get it right. Great if you're not sure what to get and certainly saves a lot of dough if you do get the wrong one.

Good luck

Hawkesi

Are we talking the Zoom Elite 4's?

Physically they don't look much different to the 3's but having gone for my 2nd run in them today they feel more responsive than the 3's, which I still love 3's. Oddly enough, they seem to have the same close-to-the-road feel the original Elites had, and those were (to date), the shoe I've enjoyed most as a runner.

God bless the poor US currency - I paid $100USD for mine in Niketown Honolulu just as the $AUD hit $US0.96, and then I come home to see them for $199 @ Rebel - wow. Should've bought two pair :(
