As the description suggests, is there anyone out there who can offer a qualified appraisal of the XA Pro 3D XCR in preference to the XT wings, other than it's a Goretex shoe?

My reasoning is that I'm very impressed with the 150km's I've done in the XT Wings (including the Glasshouse 50 last week so they've had a good hit out) and am already going to order a replacement/alternate pair. The difference in cost is negligible ($10).

Anyone out there used both?

I've only used the gore-tex salomon so can't offer a comparison. One thing i will say though, the gore-tex runners are very, very hot to run in.

Hey
I have both the XA Pro's (though the non-Goretex) and XT Wings. Wings are offer a bit more cushioning and I think the XA Pro's are a bit more low cut round the ankle which I prefer. XA Pros are also a bit more low profile (less bulk in the sole).
I reckon they are pretty similar shoes but since mine are different sizes it is quite difficult for me to compare them exactly. I slightly prefer my XA pros.

That said I reckon they are both awesome shoes and the only trail shoes I will buy. I reckon if you run alot of singeltrack type trails go for XA pro's. If lots of firetrail then Wings.

Thanks SM. My only concern was the heat that BlueBoy referred to above and being in Queensland I thought the goretex may cut out some of the dust that gets through and might be a worthwhile compromise.

As for their performance, there's no question about it, their a really well 'thought out' trail shoe, if you know what I mean. I think I'll stick with the wings and get another pair as they seem to suit me on the single track too.

Cheers both

Ohh man your feet would seriously fry running in the goretex runners in QLD. It's bad enough in Sydney in winter, still uncomfortably hot.
