Was just thinking it might be time that I invested in a CR top.
I also then thought it would be 'cool' if we could order them with our names on them (eg embroidery or transfers). Don't know if it's been suggested before or if it's 'too hard' Or failing that, has anyone got their names on their CR tops, and how did you do it? Is it on the back or the front and how does it look?! -------------------- "There's going to be a real ding-dong when the bell goes" David Coleman |

Just take it along to one of those hole-in-the-wall embroidery/mending places (there's one in our shopping centre, I'm assuming in most). They do it and it looks pretty good - on the back is more usual I think, so the people you pass can say "who is that amazing runner overtaking me? - ah, I see, shankspony!"

Yes it has been done before! Plu is one that I can think of and I'm pretty sure Lucky Legs has her name on a shirt as well.
Most of us have our names on the back of the CR hat with some embroided but most just write their name with a marker pen. -------------------- 6 Foot .....it's where you find out what you are - Stoneman after 6ft 2010

I suspect a black permanent texta would work also. I does on the cap.
We did think about it initially but lets say you order a L and we embroider it and send to you, then you try it on and decide you are a M. Singlet is now fairly useless. Better that people organise their own (?). I feel that it would add a lot to our complexity so am not keen to do it - but happy if people do their own of course. -------------------- |

I have Cato embroided on the front and rear of my running shirt, except the rear has large print. Reason is I am so slow that everyone passes me. I have my name on the back of the CR cap and on the CR tops. I got it done at the shopping centre - a place that does alterations and labelling. Cost about $12 each from memory. Matched the CR yellow color well to. Cheers.

[attachment=2291:29062008013.jpg].... A wonderful true story lies behind the taking of these photos.
At the Melbourne Marathon last year (which I finished under extreme difficulties - as all who saw me will bear witness to!), Cool Runner "Digger" in an extraordinarily kind gesture & without my knowledge, bought a new cap, had the Australian flag & "Luckylegs" embroidered on the back & sides. Then to "cap" it all off, he asked Rob de Castella to write a messasge to me on the brim! [attachment=2293:29062008010.jpg] This is what Rob de Castella wrote: "Go Norma - Luckylegs - May they never fail you Rob de Castella - Deek 2:07:51" I'll be wearing this treasured item in the Gold Coast Half Marathon. I've yet to decide who will inherit it at some later - very late I hope - stage! LL 2:07:51 refers to Deeks fastest marathon....I think! Frank 'South Australian' might look to outsiders to be a state promotional item of clothing. Whereas 'Frank in SA', in my opinion, is much more cool running (ie a little off the wall- another figure of speech; here meaning: slightly strange). You could of course abbreviate, as did Itsfun, to 'jigglytummy'! This post has been edited by sunny1: Jul 20 2008, 12:56 PM -------------------- "What are you waiting for? You're faster than this! There is a web site www.looksmart.net.au available if you want more information. I had left my cap at Looksmart at Garden City (Perth) last week. I was to pick it up on Saturday. On Friday they phoned me to say they couldn't do it, as it was a cap, and althought they did have the attachment to do it, no-one knew how to use it! I was a bit dumbfounded to be honest, that she would tell me that. However I have picked my unembroidered cap ut, got my refund and am back to square one. |

After picking my cap up from Looksmart and not knowing where else to take it, I thought I would put my high school needlework class to work. This is the result:

i am part of the texta on the velco brigade.
My hat has an evil smell and it is frequently banished from our house. It is about to be replaced by a new one, which is a bit sad as i have worn it it every marathon i have run. |

Slowjogger, I hope you dont mind but I have put my cap in the post addressed to you with a $10 note. Can you please stitch 'COLSY' on the back in yellow letters, thank you. Colsy Colsy, the stiching is actually on a patch, so if there is a MrsColsy able to sew it on for you, I would be happy to stitch the patch for you and post it over. PM me if you like. FitnHealthy, same to you (apart from the Mrs... bit LOL) , but as it is a patch, I don't know how it would go on the soft material of a top? Vurt, can't you stick your hat in the washing machine? I do that regularly with my caps, altho not yet my CR cap. This post has been edited by slowjogger: Jul 23 2008, 09:08 AM |

They come up pretty good with a bit of Dynamo and a spin in the machine. They dry really fast as well. -------------------- 6 Foot .....it's where you find out what you are - Stoneman after 6ft 2010

Forgot to add that I had a little patch made up from an embroidery place with "Go Girl" on it and just sewed that to the velcro on the back of the hat.

Before consigning it to the bin try soaking it overnight in a 50:50 white vinegar and water solution - definitely gets rid of evil smells! Wash it normally afterwards to get rid of the vinegar smell
