It can be caused by abdominal surgery.

Do you have abdominal surgery after each run?

the only surgical procedure I have had done to help my running was a lobotomy. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with the hiccups

I find potatoes give me hiccups. Actually any starchy foods eaten alone.

My mother always said block your ears and swallow. I'm sure its an old wives' tale.

Another old wives tale but always works for me when I have the hiccups. Bend over and drink a glass of water from the back of the glass, kindof upside down kindof thing.

:cray: Sorts me out everytime.

And what's really sad is I learned that trick of Sesame Street. And you all thought it was just letters and numbers.

Sex will also stop hiccups, chocolate too apparently if sex after an ultra is not practical or physically possible.

Milov, do you remove all the excess air from your bladder when filling up ?
From memory you use hand helds, so not sure if this would be a cause.

I have heard from a few others experiencing bloating/hiccups from sucking too much air in whilst trying to drink from a bladder hose. Problem solved by holding bladder hose side up after filling, squeezing valve and squeezing excess air out of the bladder until water flows.

Have to admit I was a bit unsure of what was going on here for a minute or two.

Old wives tale that works for me... drink a teaspoonful of vinegar. I don't know if it's placebo effect or not, but it works every time for me. My Mam used to give it to us when we had hiccups as kids and I haven't found anything that works better... the drinking from the upside down glass is OK, and bound to cause amusement for somebody watching.

Um, can I substitute for red wine? I've drank some that hasn't been much better than vinegar
