Although I've usually run in Adrenalines (have had multiple pairs of series 4 - 7 with no problems whatsoever), I couldn't find a pair of 8s at a decent price. So, I've just bought a new pair of Brooks Trance 7 (very cheap on eBay!).
It seems that the Trance is marginally heavier than the Adrenalines, but apart from this (and is it a real issue?) have any other CoolRunners had experience with these shoes, and can they share their opinions regarding durability, comfort, etc?
Regards. ChookLegsMonkeyBoy.

I've had a pair of Brooks Trance 7 for the past 8 months. I find them quite comfortable, however, they are a bit narrower in the toebox than my previous shoes, which were Asics. The support in them is excellent.

I changed to the Brooks Trance 7 approx 6 months ago after a lifetime of Asics and have found them to be very comfortable, in fact I find the toe box large enough for me to use my Injinji toe socks. Also the protection up front is adequate enough for me to run trails. They feel a lighter and quicker shoe than my Asics, but maybe that is psychological due to a change in my training levels at the same time (I took on TNF100 in May having never run this type of event before and trippled the amount of Kms I normally run). Not a single blister from day one and plenty of support similar to what i got from my Asics

I find the price about the same as the latest Asics, and they are also a little less common than Asics which is nice, as I like trying to spot different runners during races to keep my brain occupied.

I have used Trance for about 4 years now but have also dabbled with Adrenalines as well.
The adrenalines are definately lighter and certainly feel more shock absorbent, but do not give as much stability support as the trance.
I need stability as I also use orthotics, so I guess it just becomes a personal choice.
Either way I find the Brooks really good shoes for me.

I wear the Adrenalines and I am happy with them but my paediatrist said to buy the Trances next time as they are higher in the heel and supposed to put less stress on your calf muscles.

I loved the Adrenalines, but now run in both Trance and Nike Kayanos. I wear orthotics and whilst I love the Trance, I'd have to say I find the Kayanos more shock absorbent. I run as they say - "with the brakes on" - heavy heel strike.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
The Trance just arrived last night, so will take them for a run later this morning (after a bit of sleep).
I'll write a brief report later on comparing the 2 shoes.
Cheers.

I've now managed a couple of runs in the Trance, totalling 22 km. I can't honestly say that I notice the weight difference, but I agree with you Cato, in that the Adrenalines seem to be a little more "cushy" than the Trance.
Thanks for the opinions from everyone.
Cheers,

I went from three years with Adrenaline 5-7 to Trance 7 this year. I had been using orthotics in the Adenaline 7 and then used them in the Trance. I have to say that I'm thinking about going back to the Adrenaline. I sometimes run in my old pair and they just feel a bit lighter and fit better. Not as clunky even with orthotics.

It's always going to come down to personal choice though and I haven't made up my mind for sure yet but I'm starting to lean back towards the Adrenaline GTS.

Have now done about 700 kms on my Brooks Trance, and so far very happy with them. Will soon try to find a new pair... I did find that the very tip of the sole of the right shoe has worn extremely quickly. Don't really know why. Any ideas?

Nevertheless, when I was in the States a month or so ago I talked to a guy from a local shop who was rather negative about the trance. He thought a trance was like an adrenaline with a lot unnecessary and expensive stuff added. He said I wouldn't notice the difference if I would try them. I never did try them on, but am reluctant to change now I have found a shoe that I am very happy with.

I went from Adrenalines to Trance after I got my orthotics. I loved the GTS 7's but found the GTS 8's were too supportive with orthitics so I got the Trance 7 which worked well and was also on the list my podiatrist gave me. All the shoes were fitted by a specialist running shoe shop.
The Trance is maybe the sexiest looking shoe there is. But I didn't like them. When I got them I thought they were fine, but it took 100km or so before they felt ok to run distance in. I ran my first marathon in them and they were ok, but my feet were very sore afterwards. I think they weren't cushioned enough in the forefoot for my liking. They were nowhere near as comfy as the Adrenalines. I would have another pair of GTS7's in a flash.
I now run in Nikes!

The same thing has happened to the very tip of my left shoe. I have no idea why its happened.

I do not put in the km as some of those on this thread - but I went to Trance 7 end of last year and found them (with my orthotics) extremely supporting for my pronation issues.
I had been having some achilles / ankle problems from my previous shoes (New Balance) and these have done the trick. These got me through my first HM very well thanks..

Went to get another pair for my Melb Marathon campaign and Athletes Foot told me that they do not market them anymore and sold me a pair of Brooks Dyad.
Lesson no.1 - just because she is 21, attractive and studying physiotherapy - it doesn't mean she knows feet and running shoes!!! I am still searching for another pair of Trance 7 !!!

Two questions, now that the Trance 7 has been superceded by the Trance 8 has anyone seen the 7's on sale anywhere in Sydney as I wouldnt mind another pair

Secondly, has anyone done enough Kms in the Trance 8's to make comparisons ?

Wow you got into a pickle there didn't you went from a support type shoe for pronation to a neutral. I'd recommend heading down to the smith st Brooks store and asking someone to put you through an order.

Hi - I've got the new 8's and find that they fit very differently to the 7's, more Kayano like from memory (I wore Kayano until the podiatrist recommended Trance 3 years ago). The upper has changed from a fine tough mesh to a looser type that lets your foot move more. As an orthodic wearer they don't sit as well as they did in the 7's so I now get heel slippage like I used to in Kayanos. I've also noticed that these tend to overcorrect now with the orthotic so probably will need to change out more often as the outside softens up...hope this helps...btw my podiatrist mentioned the Adrenalines might now be worth a try...

Ooops sorry I think I'm actually comparing the new 8s with the Trance 6, I think I didn't run enough earlier in the year and missed a version...

Thanks soccerfan & wombatoutofhell- I didn't know there were 'Brooks' stores / outlets. Will check for my closest. Also will check for any Trance 7 available on line.

Will do some more research next time - this is the same reason my wife comes clothes shopping with me now !!!

Don't konw if they have them around you, but Amart Allsports tends to have older models on sale - I just picked up a pair of Trance 7's for $00 (instead of the typical $250-$260) at a Darwin branch, and know they are also around Melbourne.

They're hit or miss on sizing though - basically, it's whatever is left in the particular store.

Very happy - found some new Trance 7 and felt comfortable straight away. Also put on the Adrenalines & a pair of Mizuno -- all felt OK but the Trance fit like a glove.

I am hoping this will end some niggles in my knees and achilles !!

My POD suggested the GTS, found a sports shop that was selling them for $80!!! whish I had bought more than the one pair but wasn't sure how they would go. Have been really happy with them, light, good support, and large area for the toes.

Interesting comments on Trance shoes will keep an eye out and try them.

I'm surprised people have found a difference between GTS models.

I've run in them for several years now and have never noticed a difference.

The guy at my local running shop who knows the Brooks guys pretty well told me that Brooks are scared of changing the shoe because they're so popular. So all that changes are the looks.

Rebel Sports are selling the Trance 7 for $199 now.
