Last year the NPWS were snooping around after the run and if we get 170 again then someone will get into trouble.
However it is fat ass so anything could happen by anyone!

Given the number of falls in the sand last year you might even be lucky enough to lose a couple on the way through.

I managed to fall over twice last year as it was, but I'm in, loved it last year, actually running over those rock platforms would be quite spooky by headlight and full moon!

Have walked and camped this a number of times, would love to run it with CR's.
Last year sounded like everyone had a great time.
Hope it goes ahead....even if its on the quite

It's fine except when you hear what sounds like a giant rock slide coming down on top of you only to find out it is the sound of about 30 deer sprinting across the rocks in front of you.
My avatar is actually a pic of the sun rising over Marley beach and is still one of the best times I've ever had running.

I ran that way last weekend, in the dark, without a torch. Marley was superb as the moon came up.

Superb I'm sure, but spooky!!!
Didn't Moon depart this life in 1978 & Marley in 1981?

Daylight savings starts soon, who would like to coincidentally meet on a certain day at a certain time and go for a "fast bush walk" through some beautiful Australian country side?
1st or second weekend in Oct?

I ran this track with 2 others in early Feb (bucketing rain; extremely cold... but what an experience). Due to the nature of this track, with some paths "covered" by vegetation, sometimes the track was nearly impossible to find, It would be very dangerous to do at night..
The sun rising over those maginificent headlands is such an exceptional sight. I want to see those sights again.
After our run in Feb, the hilarious part was sitting in a lovely cafe at Bundeena, absolutely frozen to the bone still in our wet clothes, water pooling at our feet drinking hot coffees .... because our spare clothing was locked in a car outside the cafe but the keys to that car were in another car at Otford ... thank you to the lovely ladies who allowed us in for coffee and gave us a mop to clean up before we left. (at least we had some money with us)

I was half thinking of the night time run, the evening before (thus making it an out'n'back for some). It might help with car shuffling. Given a night time run would attract a lot fewer runners, and it would be dark (doh!) and the scarcity of trail markings, I suspect the night time run would be for reasonably confident runnners (or small groups that know they will stick together)

I'm interested in a night time run along this course. Let me know when its on.
Thanks

I have moved this thread to a members -only-viewable section of CR in an attempt to reduce the number of runners attending, but happy if you tell others by word of mouth. I request that it not be added to the fatass calendar - last year with so many people it is difficult to fly under the radar.
For those who want to start early at 6am, be my guest - be good to spread the load.
Happy to arrange a car shuffle from the finish closer to the time.
BYO maps/drinks.
More info per last year:

It would be cool if people hung around at the end for a swim in the sea close to the ferry wharf.
Note - other 6ft training runs on:
1st Jan - Berowra Black Stump
1st Feb - Megalong Mega

Last year's O2B was my first Fatass run and I really would like to improve on my pwp of last year

Are you (or the new RD) using this as a qualifier for 6FT?? I wasnt sure if you used this one previously, similar to black stump.
I have prodded my wife into doing 6FT this year. She ran 2006 Fitzroy Falls under qualifying time, but nothing of recent times.
If it is a qualifier, wife will probably run and I will be playing Mr. Mom. If so, will have the car to ferry any gear to the end.

For Black stump I had reams of names/times and looked for people that ran black stump who were also known finishers JUST under 7hrs at six foot. We could add a qualifying time for o2b - I suspect either 5hrs or 5:30.
However I have gone a bit cold on the idea of qualifying times as though it does definitely help, I now get bombarded by emails from qld/vic/wa asking what is th qualifying time for a half marathon or something local to them.
I might pick a time though. For Megalong, it is under 7hrs.

Got me again.
Thanks for the info. Judging by the interest in the race this year, leaving it to Megalong could be cutting it a bit fine.
Will keep an eye on the threads to see some cutoff times and then I will set Mrs. Hornet for a qualifier.

Hi JoggerKev,
Just bombarding you a tad bit more. Sooo...
Do I take it as a given that O2B is a 6ft qualifying run, qualifying time to be confirmed?
From my perspective I'm happy with a bit of vagueness around the time. I guess I either run it strongly on the day or not. Conditions probably influence what is an appropriate time as well.
Thanks for getting it all happening!

"Please note the start is at Otford lookout with the smnall car park (not the larger Bald Hill lookout). There is a small car park, but more parking is closer to Otford village. The railway station is approx 500m away. There will be a tap nearby in the town."
