I know there are a few adidas wearers so am hoping you'll be able to help me out!
My pod recommended the Adistar Cushion (or Control) [plus shoes in other brands too] and today I went to the Adidas Factory Outlet to try some on for size and found they only had women's size 11s!
I tried on some Supernova Controls (was wearing my thorlos that I run in) and found the size 10 fitted me (tried on another pair in a size 9 which were too small but I didnt take notice of which model they were). So is sizing consistent across brands? If the 10 fitted in the Supernovas will a 10 fit in the Adistars?
My other question is...
What is the difference between the Adistar & the Supernova? I'm thinking the Supernova might have more stability but I'm not sure.
[I have a very mild pronation/overpronation, more in my left foot than in my right, but it's mild enough I can get away with a fairly neutral shoe]

I've always found it to be consistent across a given brand. That's why, when I buy from eBay, I'm happy to get different models of the same brand sight unseen.
I have one pair of Adidas shoes (Super Nova Trail) and they are a half size larger than any other brand I've worn. In fact, I have to replace them - they got trashed at GH on the weekend. Falling apart. But then, they are five years old!

Hi StellaBella
I have a pair of Supernova the same size as my other shoes,
but, like Bellthrope, they are a bit bigger - longer.
I found them good for down hill running.

I’m the same size in ASICS and Adidas but the two Adidas models I’ve run in (Tempo and CS) are slightly narrower and just a tad longer. Having said that I tried on the Supernova Cushion yesterday and it felt more like an ASICS fit.
For anyone in Melbourne interested in Adidas shoes – I was in the Adidas factory outlet in Smith Street Collingwood yesterday and they had a stack of men’s Supernova Cushion and Adizero Tempo, as well as the Adistar Cushion. I tried all on and found the Adistar’s to be the heaviest and bulkiest. Because of this they are possibly the most stable but don’t take that as gospel. The Supernova’s felt lighter but the heel felt too high for me so I got myself another pair of Tempo’s for $70.

Thanks guys...
I was after light shoes so looks like these ones might not be appropriate after all...
I think my Asics "boycott" may be short lived... the DS Trainer seems the lightest of the sheos recommended to me... but the only shop I know of that sells them is the one shop I wouldnt go to just to try them on for size so I can buy em on the internet!
Might end up forking out for the first pair and then buying online going forward.

You are right Stella,
the Adistar Control and Supernova control are both heavier than DS trainers ( in mens, 370g vs 260g)
The Supernova control is probably more like the 2130 asics and the Adistar control is more like the Kayano, in terms of general comaprison.
I've been using the Adistar Control over recent months and find them a great training shoe - good cushioning and control, nice fit although feel a little bulky compared to Asics. you could use a pair for training and leave the DS trainers for races - you will aso get alot more miles out of the Control.
On a side note, I ran in DS trainers on sunday and found them really slippery on the wet pathways - almost fell over going round a corner.

Interesting... I'm back to the pod on Wed (Darryn Sargent for those in Perth) so I will ask him about the Supernovas... he recommends cushion over control for me but said control would be ok (well this is in the adistar as the novas didnt come up in conversation at the time!).
I've never worn asics, only brooks so can't really compare... I'm just not liking my brooks very much atm... too big and bulky.

Darryn is great, but he does particularly like Adidas.
Asics really are a great fitting shoe - there is a reason so many people wear them. Each time I've changed brands I've gradually come back to the Asics.
The other brand I've liked which are also fairly light are Mizunos (I wear the Wave Inspire) - perhaps ask him about these too?

One US retailer has a downloadable measuring chart, and a not too bad video on selecting the right running shoes. Their site lists, for each shoe, the kind of fit it is, including width, toe-box room and so on.
