Slightly odd situation and I'm thinking it might be my shoes to blame.

Lately I've been doing a lot more grass running (the strip next to the footpath) and often this ground is a bit uneven.

I've found that during long runs I am getting blisters up the sides of my big toes and along the top inside section of my foot. This morning on a shorter run, the grass running aggravated them and it was a bit uncomfortable.

I'm wondering if my shoes are somehow bending upwards when I got on this uneven ground and rubbing into the sides of the foot? So maybe the shoes are too wide caused them to flex at the sides?

What do you all think?

Thanks! :p

Hi Sunset,

More likely that you are trying to grip the ground more with your toes. This can happen when running on a slipperier surface like the grass. The gripping causes shearing stress along the sides of the toes leading to blisters. It may also be that the more uneven ground causes you to roll off the side of your foot and across the big toe.

Perhaps different shoes could make the difference but it might also might require a change in gait.
