Interesting how transient winners are at the top in athletics. Not many world champions from 2007 championships were able to repeat at the 2008 Olympics...in fact I think it could be the kiss of death winning a world tiltle a year before the Olympics , only exceptional athletes are able to pull it off.
So who will be the champs at Berlin Worlds 2009??????????

Im a huge fan of tyson gay but that's a big call. Usain won't be beaten in a long time as long as he stays injury free/

i dont know, he'll be good, but gay will be hungry, and he was impressive at the us trials. bolt will have a tough time maintaining the improvement he's had this year, i reckon. might be a quieter year for him next year. but then again, i might be wrong!

It'll be a very interesting Gay/Bolt match-up, I'm not picking anything, I might place my bets at about 50 metres into the final! ;)
Rocky, are you willing to give Steve Hooker a chance in the Pole Vault?

How could I forget? Goodness, we have a few solid hopes in the walking. I may be a bit uninformed but how is Nathan Deakes travelling?

I do not have first hand info, but it seems that teh ham surgery was success, Natahan is doing the strenght training in AIS and is starting to walk a bit as well.

At this stage the biggest chance is Jarred Talent, who walked last week 18:54 for 5000m track

I am guessing that is his new PB, so obviously getting faster.

The whole aussie team did 4 weeks heat adaptation training camp it was part of research program in AIS with some overseas walkers participating, it all seemed to go well, possibly some will take part in this sunday 20km racewalk in Albert Park.
