Right this is the official thread.
Dates for the challenge in 2009: FEBRUARY 7th MARCH 7th APRIL 4th MAY 2nd Wiki Page can be found here with more information, past results and MAP. General Gist: Run at the Uni Loop Nth Adelaide, Aim to finish at 7:30am (now 8am)...so leave at 7:30am (now 8am) minus your goal time (self timed). The loop is 2.2km in length so the start is across the oval behind the council enclosure at the 1600m mark (run anti-clockwise to the finish post and then 2 laps). Coffee or breakfast afterwards if you are that way inclined, normally at CIBO. This post has been edited by Simlin: May 1 2009, 09:10 AM -------------------- |

Hmmmmm.... seems to be two threads going on this one but since this is the 'official' one, then i will repeat myself ( i just posted on the other -d'oh
Just wanted to say count me in for the next one on 1st Nov. I will get there a bit early so i can find exactly where to go, but the instructions seems to be pretty straightforward in terms of location. I am at the beginning of a slow journey back to health so will be slow & steady for me but really looking forward to meeting a few other CR's look forward to it cheers Wardman -------------------- Keep smiling - whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Cool, we'll just keep using this thread rather than start a new one every month.
I reckon we try Zambraccas this time for breakfast. For Decembers I am thinking about bringing the Barbie along. This post has been edited by Colsy: Oct 14 2008, 03:39 PM -------------------- 2010 Plan

BBQ Sounds like a great plan Colsy...what are we cooking? Pancakes or bacon and eggs?...Frank did want an Adelaide CR christmas dinner...this could be it...Cibo was open early last week...must be spring!...so we went there...It's been too long Wardman, will be good to get a few more...I think we have had an SA 5km CR challenge virgin every time so far.

When does Crowpower get back? Dunno when CP returns, hopefully by then. We can work out the menu at the November one for the December one. I'll skip my run and cook the BBQ, we could go and buy take-away coffees from Cibo and bring along Orange Juice and fruit etc. I'll definately be over for 6th December. Hoping to kick your shorter-arse colsy! shortarse Look forward to it shorts. Although I think the Caker is the benchmark as far as speed goes. I'm just the one that gets blamed for everything. But thats cool, I like any kind of attention I can get. I am kind of hoping either Cakes or Crowpower will pace me through to a sub 23 at the November challenge. -------------------- 2010 Plan

I just want the coffee and brekky oh and the good conversation... ......are you intending on sitting with some other people? you weren't there last time.....hence the good conversation.... Speedysnail, you are most welcome. The idea of the challenge is that everyone finishes about the same time so there's no real last place, just someone who comes in closest to 7.30am. It will be great to have you there SpeedySnail! You'll find that the way Simi organises us on Saturday mornings it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are - we all (almost) finish together!

Don't think i've run a 5k for 2 years though, so may have to do a lap before as a warm up. Who's idea was it for the early finish. -------------------- |

It will be great to see you there Chilliman. The 7.30 start is very early especially for you and I coming from the Hills, ...but the upside is that by the time youve finished breakfast you think its lunch time and it's still only 9ish. Frank BTW when you do a warm up lap can I claim that as one of my laps please? -------------------- |

You'll run a PB no worries, especially if you jet propel yourself around the course after those baked beans, I also find fried onions effective for this also!! Mate...for a 7:30 finish I start at 5am...sit behind me all you want....I'll be eating baked beans Friday night.... As head diet coach I am forbidding such delicacies on this one occasion, as you may in fact out run me if you switch on the afterburner. Frank, as last months winner i'll put my time down as one minute faster than you, and use you as a pacer until the last 200Mtrs then i'll sprint home on the power of the chilli. I will mention you though in my speech, as I collect my prize of a trip for two over the Torrens weir in a paddleboat. -------------------- |

The course is flatter than the garmin profile would suggest (due to the error introduced by GPS elevation calculations) as the track definitely does not change in elevation 10m over 500m. The slight rise that is perceptible on the loop is over the 200m from the 1400m marker to the 1600m marker (where we start). I'd guess that the rise is at most 1m... i.e pretty much non-existant but you do notice it on tired legs and burning lungs.

Therefore if you see me cheating, just turn a blind eye...especial you Itsfun...I know what an eagle eye you are! Frank -------------------- |

More of a slight upwards inclination, or slope, than a hill! and there must be an equal down somewhere?

![]() Surely those bumps must be from your arms swinging up and down ? Although I can't exactly remember running the course before, I certainly cannot remember any hills like that unless we are talking about the bottom of the Torrens. as if we didn't have enough to worry about with Chilliconcarnie man being there... What are you worried about Frank ? I'm there to help you achieve a PB. Bungee cord packed. -------------------- |

Does anyone have a map of the actual course that they can post here, or fix the link on the wiki page here ?
Thanks ! -------------------- |

Hope that you can make it Zacman! I was wondering if its against the rules if I skate instead of run....that way I can keep up with Chilliburger... Frank -------------------- |
