Hi all,

I would like to complete a couple of Half's in between December - February but have found it hard to find many during this time? Have looked in the CR Calendar but nothing there...I am in Victoria so would prefer something around Melbourne if possible.

Is it due to the weather conditions that there are not as many during this time? I have completed two half's this year (Sandy Point and MM) and would like to do a couple more races over the summer time...as well as my long runs on the weekend to get the race experience up - before my aim of completing the GreatOcean Road Marathon in May.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Go down for the Tassie half! Flights are so cheap and it's so beautiful down there.

I highly recommend the Central Coast Half on Dec 7.

70min north of Sydney at The Entrance, it is a fast, almost dead flat out-and-back course. The race goes along a bike path and is shaded for 80% of the journey and being early in the morning the shadows are long and thick. Generally gets a reasonable size field (a couple of hundred), is well organised and has a good atmosphere. Also, The Entrance is a beautiful part of the world to visit for a break.

this is absolutely a brilliant course. great times are expected and it is very flat. Great breakfast is supplied afterwards ,,, by the way, you get to write your own certificate.... you can put anything you like on it, what opportunites for that PB.!!!!

Long arms has described this run to a tee....... This is my last race until February.... In 2009, I am looking at completing my first "6 foot track" and my first "marathon" in Canberra, so I will be increasing (gradually) my distances to acheive this after this run.

Take a very leisurely flight (with your partner), then 2 train trips and enjoy the weekend (friday am to monday am) on the Central Coast... No I don't live there or have anything to do with the organisation of this race (I live in "the Shire" - South of Sydney -- will travel there myself the day before) ... Central Coast (the Entrance) is a beautiful location.

Melbourne is a long way away so if you can't make it, thats unfortunate, however if you wish to get away from Melbourne for a weekend, what better excuse do you need????? ( a run and a great location)

Thank you for the feedback, I hadn't thought of making it into a bit of a holiday but you are all certainly tempting me! Will just have to convince my partner that we need to get away for a few days if I can't find anything in Melbourne.

I really want to get the race experience up for Half distance...pity about the Knox one being on a wednesday as I would have done that but work and other commitments just won't let me know that one!

Is there a website for the central coast half? Have checked out the tassie one....hhhmmmmm decisions decisions....

Hi Rell,
You could also take a two months holiday and do the SMC half marathon. :D

Good luck!
