Yes, good luck, and please post race reports! This is one event Mouse and I were thinking would be a cool epic thing to do together...we even started planting the seed with Mango as our cyclist ;) It looks like a whole lot of fun!

Timing so bad this year, that we aren't even making the Nepean Tri, which is only 20km from home, so it stays an idea for at least another year....

i'm in for the 1st run leg.. of course, i meant to go and have a reccy of the course but didn't get around to it.. My usual running takes me around farrer ridge, where one of the run legs passes, and this morning it was good to see all the white arrows and crosses out in force and not washed away by the rain last night.. unless of course the Sri Chinmoy people were up even earlier than i was this morning marking out the trail!!

Should be a good day.. last year saw some rain later in the day so lets hope it's not too hot for us..

good luck!!

What? When? Who? How? Why???? My memory must be failing me :) No seriously, this would be an awesome event to do. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I will be in a position to do it next year either :)

Back on topic, good luck MissZ and any other CR's competing!!

Good luck guys. I envy you that you can even attempt something like this. Out of curiousity, would it be more or less difficult than an Ironman?

well after tomorrow, MissZ will have done both, so she can let us know. I think harder. MTBing is harder then road. And the lakes are freshwater, which is less buoyant than salt.

i did the 1st run leg and thought it was pretty tough.. still quite cool and with some gorgeous views but some extended steep inclines and declines which really take it out of the legs.. pretty hammered today!

Lovely atmosphere at the transitions with a good mix of competitors..

Thanks LittleBlackPug and others. I finished 2nd female from 3 in 13 hours 59 mins - absolutley stoked! :)

It was a perfect day in Canberra and for the first time in the event's 12 year history, all 7 solo competitors finished. I felt fantastic for the first 5 legs, and kept thinking gee, this isn't hard at all. ;) Duh. Then on the 2nd run my tummy started hurting and the hills started to seem awfully big. From then on I struggled a bit, but once I was onto the 3rd triathlon I knew I would finish and was so happy, that carried me along. Plus the course is a joy from start to finish, so beautiful and varied and fun.

As for whether this or Ironman is harder, it is a close race and probably depends on the individual athlete's strengths and weaknesses. For example, 6k swimming would be tough for some. But the variety in Triple Tri means you are never doing one thing for too long. I enjoyed Triple Tri more than Ironman but I love being off-road.

I'll put a proper race report in my blog when I get around to it. But I really recommend this event, it is fantastic and it would be great to see some CoolRunning teams in future years.

I think the fact that there was only 7 solo competitors says A LOT about how tough this event is!

;) :) :) Good job Miss Z!

brilliant effort Z. And just incredible for you to have completed it solo in your first attempt.

I've always imagined the Triple Tri would be harder than an Ironman, but your point about the relative shortness of each leg makes sense I suppose. Make sure you update us on how the transitions worked for you (ferrying of gear to each transition etc...) in your race report! (yes, selfish means - I'd love to do this one day also).

Hi All,
Thought I would post a brief report as this was an absolutely fantastic event!
Thanks for your support LBP!

I ran in the mixed team of 9 category, our name \"Belly full of tequila\" will illustrate that we entered primarily as a social event, the idea being born (as many good ideas are) from an enthusiastic drunken conversation at a wedding.

We camped at http://www.canberravillage.com/

This was a really convenient location for the start of the first 3 legs. The day was just magic. I ran the 20km leg, which was the first run, a tough but extremely scenic course, up 2 summits Mt Majura & Mt Ainslie with more fast downhill sections than I had anticipated so finished in a better than expected time of 1:41.
A gorgeous finish too, at Lake Burley Griffin http://6may.fotopic.net/p54959396.html
where I immediately jumped in to cool down.
As those who know me will confirm, I am pretty navigationally challenged, so was a bit nervous about this at the start, especially when a few people sort of hesitated when I asked about the course markings, and someone said you \"had to keep your wits about you\" I thought I was surely doomed.
Fortunately the white arrows where very clear!! It was a great job on the organiser\'s part, aid stations were so well placed and I didn\'t even get lost once!!!

All the rest of our team did so well! The pressure was definitely on our last runner who had the challenge of bringing us home in under 12 hrs. He ran his heart out over the last 13km (with some steep sections) to come home in 1.01 which brought our official time to 11.59.50!!!
We are certainly hooked on this event and there will be a return of the belly full of tequila!

Just as an additional thanks to organizers, the post race food provided was the best I\'ve ever seen just fantastic! Vegetarian options were much appreciated! Huge congratulations to Miss Z. The awards ceremony was very, very inspiring to say the least.

thanks for the report Ingrid!

Your team did really well, that's a great time ;)

I wish this event wasn't the same time of year (and the same weekend next year I think) as the Great North Walk 100's!

Hey LBP and others.
We are so stoked about this race, and had such a great day we have already looked up the next event coming up. This looks like a winner! 15th March 09 (it will be very close to 6FT though)

Awesome effort and result Miss Z. As Miners said, please include as much detail in your race report as the seed has been planted although I suspect it will be a few years before it germinates....

I am so glad you enjoyed it Ingrid, it is just fantastic isn't it? Lets get some CR teams going next year. And that is a smoking run time, congratulations!

I can vouch for the Jindabyne race too, its got some fantastic scenery and makes a really nice weekend away. This year I did 1 bike, 1 paddle and 1 swim the weekend after completing 6ft. I felt fine but left the running to my team-mates who didn't do 6ft. None of the runs are that long though.
