Just a thought!!

Looking at the 2007 awards/results there a lot of votes for "Don't Know" "Not Sure". Why is there an option for this. If you don't know who or what to vote for, don't vote!! Could this be removed??

I did the voting for last year Andrew and the reason for that was because the poll insisted on an answer for every catorgary-it wouldn't work otherwise.  As some people have no idea about some things-for instance I couldn't vote on anything track or ultra as I've done neither-I put in the Dont know.  I might rename it this year if I set up the voting page again.

You echo my thoughts there too, Andrew.  i reckon if you don't know, dopn't vote, otherwise it skews the votning so much in the "don;t kow?not sure" way, which may not truly reflect how people feel.

it's a fair point, last year we were even later so we had an even later date. I brought the date in as we were earlier this time.

We could bring it in from 26th Jan to 19th Jan with no great loss I suspect. Am conscious that some people may be away ?

Was surprised to find that I could nominate for CR awards without being logged on - means anyone can nominate without being a CR member. Is that how it is meant to be?

slowmo - clearly the results reflect the readership of CR and if the readership come from certain locations then results will be skewed that way. its a fact of life. the good news is that other regions have had a surge in cr readership ....

...but it doesn't look like JoggerKev is too interested in developing a system of proportional voting... I was thinking along the lines of multiplying each vote by a factor that represents your state or territory's population to give a better picture...

Spot on, Peterhorse (and congratulations on your nomination!) - we here in SA will not be deterred. We took Guy Sabastian and that other bloke with the long hair to the top in Idol... Now for Coolrunning 2008 Ambassador of the Year... We will be running an all out campaign to get a South Aussie up there... even without the Eastern states numbers we think we are in for a chance... "vote early and vote often" as they say! (is there a limit to the number of times you can vote, Kev?).

My only fear is that the number of great South Aussie nominations may work against each other (just as in the Brownlow or DallyM awards): Frank the South Australian; Simlin; Sunny1; even that mysterious bard of the Adelaide running scene "The Rocker"! (Have I forgotten anyone?)

PS If we can't get any of these stars up, I suppose we would be satisfied with Chilliman as he has almost drunk enough Adelaide water to qualify as a South Australian.

I make it a point never to vote for myself in anything.  This means I can instantly take me of the candidates list.  Not an easy choice to CR ambassador-there's some very worthy nominations there.

Not an easy choice.  I've given it some thought and have narrowed it to about 10 or 11 people-and no not all Victorians.

I think thats called a gerrymander (spelling?)

Joe did that in Qld for 30 something years, fixed it so a vote in the outback was worth more then a vote in the city.

There is certainly nothing fair about it, (majority rules).

give me time-i'm working on it.  It takes a while to transfer everything onto a poll and I'm supposed to be working.  That said I was 1/2 way through and I lost it all-have to start again now!

Ditto - someone clearly misread the category headings when nominating me and mistakenly chose 'Inspirational' when they were obviously looking for 'Worst dressed'.

I'll be voting for a truly inspirational runner ie. someone who can (a) actually run, (b) has notched up a list of exceptional achievements and (c.) inspires others to have a go.

Hehe... I'm in the same boat as you! I had to do a massive double take when I realised my name was on that list as it wasnt at the time I went in to nominate someone else in another category! I don't really feel like I deserve to be up there not when compared with some of the names on the list!

Wld be nice to get at least one vote though!
