Here's a good fun triathlon that's suitable for all abilities, and it's put on by my Club in Forster.

Last year we had 150 entries in the second year of the revival of this race, and this year we are hoping to increase that even more!

An easy 500m river swim, a safe 20km ride on flat, quiet country roads, and a 5km run with no hills in it. All followed by a relaxed and casual presentation in the park afterwards.

Plenty of accommodation available nearby, so we would love to see a bunch of CRs making the trip North.

Hey - a good warm-up for Miner's mob's outing at Camden Haven in February ;)

Entry forms here.

Hope to see you there.

... or south ;)

Looks like we'll have a good line-up coming down for it Muz!! I reckon I should be given a 5-min handicap against my fellow Prez for an even match-up

Oops - sorry to my Northern neighbours, I was hinting strongly that the Sydney/CC/Newcastle contingent give it a bash. We are always well-supported by you guys.

Handicap may not be necessary, I think Prez has blown a calf muscle.

It is a long drive from Sydney for an hour of racing. If it was a longer race I'd look at coming up for it.

I used to be a regular at the Taree Tri in the '80s and '90s. Back then it was 1.3km swim, an undulating 48km bike out through Wingham and a 10km run. Just out of Taree, there was a deadly pick-a-plank bridge which would inevitably eat a few bike wheels each year until the organisers put some matting over it. ;)

I hear what you're saying, Paul, but hopefully there are a few people already up this way on holidays. Don't forget to pack your bike and a pair of running shoes if you are.

I know the bridge you refer to, although I've never ridden a bike across it. That former triathlon course used to be a hot and tortuous affair in January!

It is a great venue for a tri, with the Manning allowing more than enough clear water for the swim.

I hope you get good numbers for the event.

Thought this worthy of a bump in case Muz is still off-line over the New Years break

A niggly little injury may keep me off the start-line, but I'll still be down there in supporting mode if not racing. Anyone else now a confirmed starter for this beaut country race?

I'm here - just been incredibly busy with work over the holiday time.

As is normal with triathletes, the entries have gone from a trickle to a flood now the race is only days away - and yes, you CAN enter on the day!

Weather report looks good, too, with none of the stifling heat Taree is known for.

Hope to see you there.
