Currently have a pair of nimbus 10 which I have to be honest and say that they have never felt as good as the last two pair of nimbus that I have, they are three months old and have done some K's but they never felt great from when i got them .
Was thinking about getting a pair of the gel Kinsei next and wanted to know if anybody wears them and if so what are they like . I spoke to guys in athletes foot and they said they are really good for maximum cushioning.

I know they are a hefty price but I am able to get them at cost through a contact so if they are good i will get them

Cheers

This shoe will certainly help your running. It has so many things going for it ...
  • I'ts the most expensive Asics shoe presently sold.
  • It's an exclusive to Athlete's Foot.

It has one disadvantage ...

  • Heavily cushioned.

But then, it has 'Biomorphic Fit'. Can't go wrong with that!

Only thing I would add to Mr Bellthorpes ever so slightly sarcastic comments are that I see very few runners with them. On top of that they appear way too overcooked.

Consider going back to your Nimbus 9s A4E, there are still loads of new pairs up for grabs on EBay.

In terms of maximum cushioning then yes, according to Asicsit is - so you could say the sales assistant was right?

Although from opinion, give me a pair of Nimbus any day.

Problem with the Kinsei is they weigh a little too much for my liking. the combination of the large amount of gel and the external heel counter does seem to feel a bit heavy on the foot.

In regards to the Nimbus 10, i think its a good update from the 9. Feels a bit more like a 'pillowy' ride.. Its obviously not as soft as a Vomero.. but you got the advantage of durability.

I'd stick to the Nimbus.. or try a different brand.

For $300.. there are better options.

But hey.. thats my opinion.

Hello all,

My first post

Anyway, I tried a pair of the Asics Kinsei today at Athelets foot, i always run in Kayano and i was very intersted in trying these on/out. I have heard so much hype around these shoes for such along time, but the price always turned me away from even bothering to trying them on

But they are currently on sale for $219.99

I spoke with Asics last week and they said that they have done an EXCLUSIVE deal with Athlets foot and thats why u cannot by them at any other running shop in Australia.

Asics also regulates the prices globally in the US/Canada and Europe. U will find it very hard to get someone in America to ship to Australia. Especially when u see them retailed for $119.00 USD. If you go to most online shops in Australia u will always mostly see older Kayano models reatail at around the $179.00 mark....maybe even a litttle cheaper. I have heard of Asics giving warnings to shops that if they do not stop shipping there shoes overseas to Australia etc, especially when the AUD/USD was almost at parady etc...they will stop/ban suppling shoes to that shop. I few years ago...Pauls Warehouse had some problems with ASICS because they were selling there shoes WAY to cheap.

Ebay has quite a few sellers of the Asics Kinsei . as you probably know ..but they are not much cheaper once you convert it over to AUD. AUD/USD is currently at $0.665690. There are some online shops in the UK but again the conversion over from GBP to AUD gives up any savings.......and the shipping costs are crazy. One seller wanted to charge $65.00 in shipping costs.

So, the lady who was helping said that the Kinsei shoe was more for a runner with a neutral running style. I tried them on and they seemed ok, nothing that said BUY me right now. I have a pronate running style so straight away this shoe was not really the best for me

Another thing was that both new Kayano 15 & Nimbus have alot of the new technology that the Kinsei uses. The lady in the shop basically said that the Kayano 15 and Nimbus are a better running shoe, support, comfort, cheaper etc. The Kinsei also do not come in sizes (4E) extra wide either

i am no expert on this shoe...

But i think that both the Nimbus & Kayano 15 are a way better shoe then the Asics-Kinsei.

I have been running in Kayano's for years (Currently i have the latest model 15) and i wont be changing anytime soon

But then again some people out there might find it a bargain to pay $219.99 for the most technically advanced running shoe that is out on the market today from Asics.

There is my 10 cents, hope this is of some help

I bought the first Gel Kinsei when I was in America a couple of years ago. They didn't feel quite right at the time but I bought them because with the Aussie dollar so strong at the time they were pretty cheap. I've always worn Asics (mainly Kayano and Speedstar) so were happy to give them a go.

Big mistake. I did 150km total and never managed to do anything longer than 10km in them. Fairly certain they managed to contribute to a recurrancy of ITB injury.

Stick with the Kayano's - they are a great shoe and cheaper.

Confucious say - "Be very suspicious of product given exclusively to one outlet".

If you had a hot product, would you limit it to one outlet.

Hi A4E I had a pair last year and I have to agree with Bellthorpe's points. The fact that "serious" running shops dont sell them is a combat indicator and I dont think they are worth the extra money over the Nimbus. While I didnt have any dramas with my Kinsei, why spend all that extra money for essentially the same shoe? I now only use Nimbus and am completely happy with them.
